Gateway configuration lost every time iRule is closed.

I lose all of my gateway setup every time I close iRule on my Samsung Galaxy S4. I'm using the app on several other devices and have never seen this issue. A restore of the gateways works around the problem until I fully close the app again, but I'd like to get it solved. Anyone else experience this?

  • ME TOO!!! Nexus 7. Ever since the update (which didn't provide the functions we were "promised" like MODULES!!!) I have to restore my gateways sometimes once a day. I never close iRule (hardly ever). After I restore (i guess its a good thing I backed them up) all is ok.... for a while anyway. When I look in SD Card\Android\Data\com.iRule.Activity\cache\ there is an xml file named gateways.
All it shows is (before AND after I restore gateways)

Can I manually add the necessary entries maybe?

  • First report of this came in yesterday. I have tested a few times with a Nexus S 4G and a Motorola Xoom, everything appears to be ok.

Any info on the gateways you are using, and their configuration as well as the Android device / Android OS will be helpful ( You guys both already did this, thank you) . I can get my hands on a Nexus 7 on Monday morning in the office.

BTW, you can paste xml, you just have to use preserve HTML blocks in.

// Before you paste XML, omit spaces around pre / code
    < pre > < code >

// After you paste XML, omit spaces around pre / code
    < /pre > < /code >

Proof that I am not making this up :)

  • I'm running android 4.2.2 on my at&t galaxy s4. IRule version 1.5.2. Only other thing to mention is that the phone is fully encrypted including the sd card, but I doubt that makes a difference. I have the following gateways: iTach IR, MCE Controller, Vera Gateway, and a WOL gateway. Lastly, i have a few other ios and android devices, so i've only added gateways by using restore which just made me think i should try adding manually to see if the problem continues... I'll reply back if there is a difference.

  • One more clue... if i uninstall iRule then reinstall and manually add one test iTach gateway, it will remain persistant and work correctly even after closing and opening. If i then restore my gateways, everything looks and works correctly until the app is closed. When open the app again, the test gateway comes back, all of the normal gateways are missing again. I believe the short term work around would just be to manually configure all of the gateways again. Hope that helps.

  • So far, it appears that I have fixed mine. Firstly, I was able to "force" the issue by going into the gateway section of the app, navigate to iTach IR/my IP2IR gateway/I'd select a channel then the device attached to that channel to get to the "status" page and the app would "close" but not really close and then display "no gateway" I would then check the remaining gateways and none would remain.

How I fixed: I restored my gateways, deleted each one, backed up my gateways, shut down iRule app, re-open app, restore the gateways (to make sure nothing would be restored, i.e. empty backup) then manually add each gateway back then exit the app. I checked gateways.xml and it looks good.

I opened & closed iRule app several times as well as reboot my Nexus 7 several times. I've since then made a new backup & did a restore of the gateways. I tried to "force" the issue as stated in my first paragraph and all seems good.

    I hope this helps you.
