Monoprice HDMI Switcher HDX-402E IR Codes

Despite the several options available for IR codes found in the iRule builder I have yet to make any of them function correctly. A handful that actually make something happen don't act as if they are true discreet codes for selecting the appropriate inputs. I have 3 components in Inputs 1, 2 and 3. I'd assume to switch from input 1 to 2 to output A would require selecting the A2 command. This doesn't appear to work. You select A4, then to return to input 1 you select A3. It doesn't make sense nor does it appear to be consistent. I've troubleshooted for a week and am seeking any advice as it could be very possible I'm missing something obvious.

  • I had some trouble with this as well but was able to get it to work with some trial and error. First, here is my setup as it pertains to this problem. Android irule on a Nexus 7, Global Cache itach IP2IR, HDX-402E.

So here is the deal. If you look at the codes for the 4x2 matrix switch you will see there are enough codes for the 4x4 switch. It seems that the mapping of the codes to the button names, eg. (A1, A2, B1, B2) are all mixed up. Here is what worked for me.

A1 is controlled by A2 code
A2 is controlled by A4 code
A3 is controlled by B2 code
A4 is controlled by B4 code

B1 is controlled by C2 code
B2 is controlled by C4 code
B3 is controlled by D2 code
B4 is controlled by D4 code

No problems with the Power Toggle and Memory. They work fine with the corresponding Power Toggle and memory codes

Keep in mind that if any of the 4 inputs or 2 outputs do not have a hdmi device attached the matrix switch will not switch to that particular input and or output. For example my input 4 in not in use and is not attached to anything so pushing A4 or B4 will not yield a switch to these particular inputs.

I also tested this successfully using the same Android setup but with a Global Cache GC-100-12.

I have not tested the RS-232 codes but I plan to once I get hold of a null modem cable.

    Hope this helps.

  • Mr. Evil,

This is great info. I should have time tonight to test this out. The 4 groups of codes made me assume they were codes for a 4x4 so I didn't even bother messing with them. Thanks and I let you know how it turns out.

  • Thanks Evil, I just ran into this myself and your mapping just saved the day. I am also having problems with the actual Monoprice HDX-404E as well. I get A1, A3 and A4 to work out of the codes in the database. A2, all B, C and D do not work for me.

  • I am not sure about the 404E since I do not have that particular model. If you have a itach unit you can try learning the codes. I have found that using a offset of 3 in the ilearn program works best when capturing codes.

  • Hi, I need the Pronto Hex codes associated with the buttons of the HDX-402E, would you please copy paste the hex codes into this topic thread, I wasn't able to find how to display the values in the iRule builder likely due to being new. The 4x2 HDMI Switch remote has 10 buttons

    Power Toggle
    A1 / A2 / A3 / A4
    B1 / B2 / B3 / B4
    Memory

    Your help is greatly appreciated!

  • Go to the Devices tab in the upper right.

Click the gray arrow pointing down.

Click the light blue Community tab.

Set Type to Switcher, enter Monoprice as the Vendor, and set Codes to IR.

    Click Search.

It should find "HDMI Matrix Switch - HDX-402E".

Click the box in front of it and click Import.

"HDMI Matrix Switch - HDX-402E" will appear in your list of devices. It looks like the Codes you want are there under Pronto Hex Codes. They look like IR codes to me.

There are several other Devices listed on the Community tab and the iRule tab. Some are for the HDX-401E, but there is a good chance they would also work for the 402E.

    Good Luck!

    Mike
