Does my jolicloud need to be running for the new updater to work as my jolicloud doesn't auto connect any more like it used to.

My Jolicloud should still autoconnect, so that is a problem of it's own. But I don't believe you need to be connected for it to work. I brought up the issue a while back that users could only update while connected, so I would assume this new updater solved that problem.

My Jolicloud no longer auto connects either. If I click on the Jolicloud icon, it connects (turns blue) without opening My Jolicloud. The updater seems to work whether connected to My Jolicloud or not.

If you're connecting wirelessly, it may be that the Jolicloud daemon is trying to connect before your wifi connection loads (and is therefore failing). I'll have to investigate this myself. In the mean time, the updater is working properly for you.

Zak,
I am connecting via my wireless connection.
If the daemon fails, is there an error message somewhere?

No, since it's just a connection failure. If there was, you'd receive an error every time you booted up (which... that'd suck). If you connect with an ethernet cable, do you get the same issue? If not, I'm right. If so, I'm baffled.

My ethernet connection didn't work, I've always used wireless.
Dave

I booted off of a USB drive using another minimal linux distro and the ethernet works fine.

It may be that your ethernet drivers are not properly detected in Jolicloud. This would be a kernel issue, so you'll have to wait until we get proper drivers for it built into the kernel (shouldn't be a big deal if you use wireless all the time, anyway).

Thanks Zak
It isn't a big deal at all, as I always use my mini connected via wireless. Just for grins, I tried the newest releases of UNR and another "U" derivative and they didn't detect the ethernet on my mini either. I'm pleased that the minimal distro worked, I'll use it if I need to use a wired connection when travelling etc - until you guys get the proper drivers.
