Wow blessed be the people who are still trying! But sadly I will only be able to install this when I get a chance to get some help since I'm not much of a geek and just got a message saying "this add on could not be installed because it appears to be corrupt". In the meantime, I'll just continue not using Last.fm because every time I come back I get an urge to post in this website (which isn't very helpful but thank you for trying).

I can confirm that  it works with Google Chrome 47, just download it from the GitHub page, open your Chrome extensions, and drag & drop the downloaded file to that browser tab. The dev uses the term "friends", so I am not sure if I can see my followers or people I follow in the right hand frame. But it sure looks nice and is a good add-on on artists, albums and track pages to fill the empty space on the right side.

That "corrupt" message might come from an overzealous Firefox maybe? It might block it because it is not installed from the official app store, but from the GitHub page directly.

It looks like if you follow someone, they're considered to be your "friend", even if they don't follow you back. For me it's showing a lot of people in this list that I follow, but they don't follow me.

Thanks for confirming that it's the people I follow. I think it is even better than the original, because it is not limited in numbers, and it ranks them, so it's easy to find the biggest fans of an artist in that group of users. Last but not least it specifies the people listening for artist, albums and tracks, but I don't remember if the old site did that, too.

By the way, rumour has it that Microsoft will add Chrome extension ability to Edge soon as well as Mozilla to Firefox.

it works fine with firefox 42.0, but only if you've set the language to english... if you use last.fm in german it's not working... pity!

Hey, I'm the developer of this addon.
You are right, it really shows people you follow. I called it friends because the API still uses this term and it's shorter than “people you follow”. I'll make it clear at GitHub.
@heliobalione, what browser (+ version) are you using?
@Matti81, how can I set Last.fm to German?

It works for me until I restart Chrome, then Chrome disables it cos its not from the app store. How can I enable it to always work? Thanks.

Les, that's strange. What version of Chrome and what OS are you using? It doesn't happen on Chrome 47 on OS X. Maybe you can try enabling the Developer Mode in Extensions page. Maybe I'll pay the 5 bucks for the store to simplify the process.

Hi, Chrome 47.0.2526.80 m and Windows 10 build 10586.29. Its greyed out in extensions and I can't enable it. Message says its because its not listed in the app store. Thanks for help!

@David, this is awesome, thank you so much for sharing! It's great to have this functionality back, I really appreciate it :)

Any plans to make the extension available for Safari users by any chance? I switched to Chrome for now so that I can use your add on, but I'd love-love-love to be able to use this with Safari... ;)

@somepixiessong, glad to hear that, you're welcome. About Safari, it would require Apple Developer Program that costs $99/year. Sorry but that really isn't a reasonable price for developing free extension.

Firefox won't add it as app hasn't been signed. Just changed from Chrome so would like to get it working. How are people managing to get this to work?

This has been introduced in Firefox 43. I'll have to submit it to the official Marketplace. But I don't have much time now. Like @heliobalione mentioned, there is a workaround – go to 'about:config' and set 'xpinstall.signatures.required' to false.

@David, 99 bucks a year is a crazy amount of money just to be allowed to release Safari extensions! This is a really shortsighted move by Apple... that fee surely discourages a lot of people - which is definitely not a good thing for Apple's platform.

Still, thanks for the explanation :)

I've just published the addon for review. It will take a few days to approve it (there are 175 addons before me). You can check the progress here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/friends-who-listen/
But when testing on Firefox 43, it doesn't work because of CORS policy. Don't know why. In a testing profile it works. @heliobalione, does it work for you (after you disabled the signatures requirement)? Anyway, the Chrome version works.
Thank you for patience.
