"Manage settings" and its place

Today on our dear Last.fm I saw information about new policy, the one lately being reason for Last.fm deletion of old stuff. So I had to agree with cookies etc., but after that, I realised "manage settings" button follows me everywhere, being not really big, but big enough to annoy me. I'm wondering how many people have the same, but also, I suggest moving this button into setting panel, where it should belong from definition.

Bumping this.

It's really annoying me too, it's not too bad on my desktop but on the mobile view on my phone it's awful. I really hope they see this and move it somewhere else

Depends on viewer, I guess, for me it's annoying even on desktop (I work on laptop all the time, so I have smaller resolution and it's more visible somehow)

By the way, nice charts - much appreciated Parkway Drive's new album :3

Yeah I mean it's still irritating on my laptop, just not as bad as on mobile. Could really do without it all together though.

And thanks man :) It's an awesome album, been on repeat constantly since it came out!

Agree, I don't think "Reverence" deserves that much hate which is going around it. Okay, it's different, not that heavy as previous ones, but still it's awesome. Also I think it can have most mature character, although Parkway Drive was always really standout band in that matter. :)

This was also kinda "bump" for topic, as I think it needs to be not burnt in ashes of time. At least it would be nice to get an official answer, if I don't ask for too much.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled CB$ Cookie Management Trainwreck.

The new pop up seeking consent and/or allowing management of marketer cookies and tracking cookies of all sorts is a confusing train wreck. With 20 years of education and 40 years experience reading and writing, I found it impossible--indeed insurmountable--to understand and negotiate with reasonable effort. It wouldn't surprise me if this was the desired result. Having had more than one account on this venue for over ten years, often as a subscriber, I am once again wholeheartedly disappointed in the new management by CBS.

I'm wondering if this has to do with why the site has been running so slowly for me this morning... I'm on my work computer, with Windows 7 and running at 16 GB of RAM. The site keeps freezing mid-scroll and I'm having trouble clicking links (there's a huge delay with the underlining on hover). Are these issues related?

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled 'Manage Settings'.

I don't often post in here, or let alone use this site other than checking for updates. Today I logged into Last.fm on my laptop, and the 'cookies settings' prompt came up, I read and agreed and it was all fine and dandy... until I noticed the large 'Manage Settings' button in the bottom corner of my screen.

I don't think it's too bad on desktop, bearable at the least... but the problem arose when I logged in on mobile.

The problem is that the settings button seems to be so large on here, and ruins the whole aesthetic of the site.

I'm not disagreeing with the terms, I was just hoping it would be moved to another place on the site. Maybe pinned at the bottom, or inside the settings menu.

I think that "manage settings" button is great. Just think, when you want to read something about cookies, tokens etc, you need to just click on that button. Just think one more time, you need to read about cookies quickly, and you wasting your time to try find this in your account settings, right now you need one click. Just one.

I hope that's sarcasm. If not, nobody cares how many clicks it take to read about cookies. As if you regularly want to check it. Seriously??

I think we should have everything on the main site, so we won't waste any time to click more than once! Just imagine: main page as small puzzles, 5x5 pixels, and we have every thing we need in one site! It will load for 15 minutes, but who cares, just imagine how wonderful idea it is!

I still love that button, it looks that last.fm is the only site with that kind of thing. Amazing innovation. I am proud that my favourite site is created by people with open minded.

That's kinda beautiful, no matter if you're trolling us or not. While praising Last.fm's button, in the same time you keep this critical topic 'bumped' :>

By the way, I'm still waiting for any official answer to this. Jon, could I bother you?

It's a cross brand initiative from our good friends at CBS Interactive - you can see the exact same interface on other cbsi properties, e.g. GameSpotMetacritic, etc.  We don't have much say in design or placement, but we're reading your feedback and will pass it along to them.
