This conversation is no longer open for comments or replies and is no longer visible to community members. The community moderator provided the following reason for archiving: This conversation has been inactive for over 6 months and is now closed.

Staff has covered many issues, but information is scattered. This is an attempt to make it more
accessible.

Please let me know if there is a feature I have missed or if any of the
information is inaccurate or out of date. I have not included the features covered in their announcement.

I welcome you to BUMP. I will now and then.

*Thanks for all the input. Sorry for the delay. To keep the thread true to its purpose, I will stick to posting about features that used to be on the old site and new features that will be introduced. I will not be posting suggestions for features or bugs with features that have been reintroduced.

Hey, somebody told me that maybe you can help :)
I don't have option to delete messages, is it with everyone?

It's not like that with everyone. I can delete shouts in my shoutbox, but I've seen others with your problem. Example: https://getsatisfaction.com/lastfm/topics/cant-delete-a-shout?topic-reply-list%5Bsettings%5D%5Bfilte...

I have about the same technical expertise as my 14th century ancestors, but it might be that
1: You are trying to delete the shout of someone who has deleted their account. This may not work (as suggested by Hans-Jürgen in the link).
2: You may be running a browser add-on that blocks certain scripts from running.

1. I've been sending and receiving messages this couple days, so these people didn't delete account, just there is no option in inbox.
2. I try on every browser, still no option for deleting.

This is happening with me too. But in my case the restriction applies only to users that aren't (weren't) my friends (before the big change). As we are still not able to add new friends (or to follow somebody, in the new concept), this is even more annoying. If you want or need to clean up your shoutbox and have no concerns with any of your previous received shout, I would reccomend trying to desactivate and then reactivate shout message in your privacy settings. I imagine this should delete every single past shout you have received.

@tumultodevozes Well, there's a 'follow'-button on profiles now, or 'following' if you already are, so it seems to be working now. I haven't tried it myself though, and the announcments thread has not been updated, so I have no idea if it's just cosmetics or not.

Edit: Donyvi was a bit quicker.

You can add the link to your Last.fm profile in the settings of your GetSat profile as "website/blog", so clicking on your avatar or username should open a profile summary popup with a button to your full profile.

Yesterday evening there seems to have been a silent bugfix release which also enabled following/unfollowing other users besides disabling the blue bar on top of each Last.fm page and maybe even fixing the "only one track playing" bug with Spotify. Hopefully there will be more info when staff is back in office.

@ Hans-Jürgen: Like someone mentioned, the option to enter people's user profile has been broken since last week (for some). I click on a name, which prompts the circular-loading-thingie to appear for a few seconds before going away. I've tried in all my browsers and on different computers.

This isn't last.fms issue, ofc.

Currently when I look at Events "in my area" I get a shitton of events featuring artists I have never heard of (and don't match my music taste at all) and the new site is way too liberal with the use of the phrase "in your area". I live in Vienna and I don't really want to see all the events in Hungary, Slovakia and so on. Didn't have that problem on the old site, will this be fixed?

Yes, but the V1.0 version as a simple RSS feed is missing. That's what I was referring to. First item on this page.
http://www.last.fm/api/feeds
My feed would have been here.
http://ws.audioscrobbler.com/1.0/user/jbond/recenttracks.rss

Artist similar is a bit harder to find as the V1 docs have long since disappeared.
Docs here https://web.archive.org/web/20060911141306/http://www.audioscrobbler.net/data/webservices/#Artist
Example call here
https://web.archive.org/web/20061231223630/http://ws.audioscrobbler.com/1.0/artist/Metallica/similar... This was available up till 10 days ago. There's old code and tools out there that used the old V1 calls that now breaks.

I've worked around the missing RSS recent tracks by writing my own code to read my getrecenttracks and emitting an Atom feed. But I can't fix the old code that uses similar as I don't have source and the developer disappeared a long time ago.

Delete/remove scrobble and/or artists still does not work.
But, according to https://getsatisfaction.com/lastfm/topics/new-site-launch-temporary-service-disruption-information  it will be back (soon ?)

This is one of the most important features on last.fm (I consider it like this, anyway).

Also, the list with friends (following/followers) is in reverse order of the date they were added -- the newest comes first in the list.
This one is also an option that needs to be modified: switch the order of followers/following as to my preference (I prefer strictly alphabetical ).

The first feature you mention is coming back:

The reason I didn't add the last point is that I strongly doubt that it is working as intended. It would be such a strange decision. If it's not fixed really soon, I'll add it to the list :)

On the old "home" page, it used to show the last four artists added to one's library.
It had a "see more" (or "show more") button/link which took you to the last tracks that you had scrobbled for the first time.

The link takes you to that page, yes. There, every new track is listed.
But I'd like to see a list of just the artists that have been added, possibly even more than those four.

How about being able to jump ahead several pages through your library. I have 78 pages of artists, and it is too difficult to run through them one page at a time.

Also how about the full set of tags on a given artist instead of just five?

First one you mentioned is simple. Just change the page number on address like this. if you want to go to page 78 : http://www.last.fm/user/USERNAME/libr...
Then you can jump to any page of your library at once.

@Matti81 Yeah, you can, but that isn't exactly user friendly. They need to bring it back to the way it was in the old library view, where you could sort it by amount of scrobbles or alphabetically, and then easily jump between pages with one click.

I think the 'cached scrobbles' issues are unrelated to the migration of data from the old site to the new. You can find comments from the lead developer on the subject here: https://getsatisfaction.com/lastfm/topics/problems-scrobbling-scrobbles-stuck-in-cache

I'd like to know whether the 1,000,000 scrobble limit will be increased in the future.  Many of us have been around for many years and are approaching (or already did reach) the 1M scrobble limit.

To reach 1,000,000 from the start-up in 2002 until now you would've had to scrobble 210 tracks per day. If the average track length is 3 minutes, that means 10.5 hours of listening every day. I love music, but that just sounds painful.

You possibly could, if you only listened to punk and grindcore, where the average track length is 1:50 and 0:40 respectively. Still though, the 1M users are definitely cheaters.

Some people scrobble from their own radio stations 24 hour a day. They use something called Scrobble Along(which I think is really good. Found loads of stuff through it) but none that I can see have a million plus scrobbles. I listen to music throughout the day. In the car, in the house, in the bath , in hotels, at friends, parties etc... Most of that music gets scrobbled but my average daily plays stand at 71. I'd have to be a last fm user for another 30 years to get near a million.

When I first started using the site I caught a lot of heat from the guy who introduced me to it for doing some scrobbling without being present. I just wanted to build a base from which last.fm could make recommendations! Don't hate me :(

To make up for it, I'm throwing a party when I reach a million in 2068!

I've fallen asleep many a time, completely rat-arsed, with my headphones pounding out music until 7 am. All of the tunes scrobbled. I now delete when that happens but didn't in the beginning because, not having the I.Q. Of a brain surgeon, I didn't know how to.

You could import very large media player libraries, too, when creating a new account (max. 300k on the old site), but even then it's hard to reach that limit. Anyhow, that topic has been discussed and answered by staff member in the old forum as well. ;-)

Artist that you have scrobbled 0 times and tagged will appear in library (by design, the new site will not display artists that you have scrobbled 0 times and added to the library)

That is COMPLETELY IDIOTIC. I added like a thousand artists and tagged maybe a hundred of those artists. However, artists i've never scrobbled before BUT HAD ADDED in my library appear on the front page and it says "This artist is in your library". Of all the problems and missing features on the new site, this is the feature I care about the most and it's completely ruined. Brilliant.

I can't believe this site went live with THIS many issues. Holy crap! Like seriously, some of these things are integral to the site. I also feel like the site is a ghosttown since the change. At least on many of the artist pages I visit. I wonder how many people have jumped ship.
