Isn't it possible to add a "Released(Or recorded)" tag to songs and albums?
I would loved to check my page and see how many i listened to certain time periods or years, like for example if I check my "Last week" page and see that i mostly listened to music from 2017 and 1992 or something.

That's a really good idea. Like many others, I have all my albums and every song tagged with the year of release. It is important because the song can be recorded at different times by the same artist and the version is different.

I think it's preferable for this to be done via user submitted global tags (rather than scrobbling), which let you tag tracks and albums by both a specific year and decade.  What we want to do in the future is be able to filter your library charts and lists by a tag or combination of tags (e.g. 80s rap, 70s rock, 90s pop, etc), same goes for neighbours, recommendations, new releases, etc.

I frequently do tag individual tracks by year of release, especially when someone else has tagged them with a completely erroneous decade. Such as the person who seems to think that every single track ever recorded by David Bowie belongs in the 80s.

I don't see anything stopping other people from doing the same - so long as they have their facts right, preferably!

He might have used The Last.fm Mass Tagger for all Bowie tracks without checking.

I didn't even know there was such a thing - anyway, from the link, the developer's own words, "Remember with great tagging power comes great responsibility, I made this so that people can create tag collections quickly and easily not for spamming," should have been heeded by the numbskull.

I never used to bother much with tags until they were used to tell me what I'd been listening to in the last week. I now tag as much as I can but I just don't have time to do my own tags for every single track I listen to.
