Hi everybody. It has been nearly a year now since we moved from the old (and very much loved) last.fm. A YEAR can you believe it ? No, I carn't. Half the functions do not work, we get fixes to things that are not broken, feedback seems to be very rarely listned to. About Me ??? bbcode ???? Not gunna change back now, that has ripped the heart & soul out of last.fm IMO. I used to love the widgets I had in my About Me section. I have waited patiantly for nearly a year since the move to the new site but am slowly begining to lose faith. A few things really, really get right up my nose !!!!! VARIOUS ARTISTS albums are a total mess display wise, despite the being reported here several times by several people. The whole auto-correct incorrect auto-correct shambles, dunno if it is the sane for everyone els buy my page still says BETA on it, after a soddin' Year ! I like some of the new functions & understand that things take time but dear me, what a mess still after a year. What was the rush to leave the old site ? And why does it still say BETA everywhere ? I still miss the last version of last.fm & still dream of something like that but those dreams are fading with every pointless spirit 5 million whatever.
    Good luck with it all.

Tragic site is tragic. I bet in one year it'll still remain messy.

I'm pretty sure it will. Will probably wait for the 10 or so years to this site turn on better?

But don't you all love the Responsive WebdesignTM️ which gives up to 60 % of the space on mobile devices to slow, external advertisements that aren't remotely connected to your music tastes / statistics?

It says BETA because, sadly, it still is Beta. I find it so surreal that it's been a whole year. Seriously, they had enough time to build it from scratch.

Just to note: today I see that the site is no longer a "beta" :-)
Either I haven't noticed this earlier, or they decided to "call" it a stable site since yesterday.

Surely they couldn't just erased the word "beta" and leave the site as is!

This move is one of the worst things that ever happened to the internet. Awful, useless, mediocre move.

I wonder if the staff knows how many people hate them...literally. If they do i wonder how they cope with it.

I conclude that if “The big daddy company” protects them, it makes them untouchable. They clearly understand that no one is buttery cake and everyone gets what they earn.

Me and my fucking friends would have finished a site much better than this new version in 30 days. I will never forgive the lastfm staff for this horrible new site.

Damn it. I thought that year passed recently and about how inconsistent I am - I told I will leave this site at the beginning, and as quite nothing changed after (ohmygod) year I'm still here.
Damn my memories, damn my ex-girlfriend I met there, I don't know how can I be so stupid. Love is blind, no matter if it's girl or site like Last.fm. But yes, I won't change it. But it still hurts.

"When we said revolution we mean that - we put the users in charge. CBS gets this."(1)
I just want to remember the first relevant cut in the last.fm history.
(1)with this bbc news
Has Martin Stiksel really believed, what he told and the founders were cheated like in a bad copy of "Waynes World"? (btw. Was it the 17th of august when beta starts?)
Two years later, they leaved the company and it hasn't sound like they were lucky. So I also want to quote this guardian article (2) to rember one particular circumstance:
"A huge 'thank you' has to be said to all of you in front of your computers. With your contribution, enthusiasm and 'scrobbles' you have helped to make Last.fm into what it is today: the best place for music online."

Yes, it was best place for music for sure. And it probably still is, but don't know if I'm saying this objectively.

I'm only subjectively too, Tom. But what happened to the focus on the users off the last quote in relationship to the beta development process?

Hiya Last.FM staff:

Just curious - do you guys actually have a goal in mind with Last.FM? Like, does anyone over there know what would constitute completion of the beta? What are *Last.FM's* goals for this website?

I've asked before; I'm asking again. 99.999% certain no one from Last.FM will acknowledge this. But just throwing it out there again because...well, hell if I know why.

Here is a cause, more money in their pockets, and better for them. The purpose why last.FM site has started going down the drain is because of terrifying CBS Corporation who obviously has one point in their mind and that is destroying last.FM service, so they could sell it for very scarce money. What else could you assume? It has been a year since they launch that horrendous BETA and still half of functions on this site are missing. Not to mention a tremendous number of spammers, bugs, trolls and stupid children who their only mission is to troll someone out of spite for not desiring their favorite artists like Justin Bieber or Selena Gomez. Do you really believe that last FM administrators are feeling triggered about this? No, they do not; they cannot wait for a day to sell this domain for very scarce money. However, before that, they will make sure to everything be overthrown and executed!

As Willie Miller said:

It would be nice to think that someone one would take over the Audio scrobble function when Last.FM finally sinks into well-deserved oblivion.

That is all I can say, until then, find a better site to stream your favorite music and move on!

It's hard to move on, when there isn't a place to move on to. Even this tiny bit of Last.fm that we have now is better than any other alternative that exists out there, such as that ridiculous Libre.fm and similar websites (for me at least).

I more prefer Spotify over Last.FM. The only thing I hate is horrendous customer service and country limit.

Who will guarantee that there weren't rulers, masterminds wich pull the strings behind the lines and were responsible for this sabotage like beta start one year ago with the target to scare users and lead them to a high prized music company a, b or c?
And while the migrating user thought they makes a free desicion, it's only the way of the sheeps to the shearer. Then after the main movements, the leftover last fm community include the staff can go on as usual in it's new social niche where they didn't disturb the 'big business'. Thank you for paying attention to my paranoid derailment.

It's what usually happens, make a bad redesign. Anger the users. Watch traffic go down. Shut down site. :(

It is a travesty. We've been stamping our feet for a year now. Sadly the bad bits outweigh the good bits and we live in this forever BETA world. Sad face.

I can't. Seriously, i can't. ONE YEAR and we still can't delete songs/artists, the "about me" still poor, we can't put gifs anymore. The library remains poor too. Where is the "old one" library? With big pictures and dinamic pages. Lastfm are just caring about layout and forgot the IMPORTANT options that made the site so cool for years. Everytime that i see a new topic of update i feel sad because they are all useless or just for aesthetics.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled When will be possible to delete ARTISTS and TRACKS from the library?.

Come on... One year since the new lastfm, and one of the most important options is not working yet?

I am getting nauseous of double standards that this community has, every time this retarded getsatisfaction.com forum widget reject me. Every time when I visit the horrendous forum, I get log out, the only thing they returned is "neighbors".

1. About me category is horrendous;
2. The organizations that I use to be a member off are still idle;
3. The playlist that I build is gone;
4. Library is not working properly;
5. Half of tracks on some album artists are missing;
6. I am still not able to stream Various Artist category that thanks to last.FM BETA lost over 130 million listeners;
7. I'm not able to edit my posts on this junk of a forum after one hour;
8. Spammers are flooding this forum community with their advertisement every day with no problem;

Over 100 reports and over 1000 suggestions, we sent to this community and none of this administration viewed or fixes the bugs that this site has! Somebody should contact Google or musicbrainz.com and tell them to buy this domain and fire this community permanently!

How is that hard to admit? It's obvious! Lol. We will all be dead and buried by the time the site is fully functional...if it's still here by then.

They can probably get away with anything because there's no alternative. Personalised music streaming is everywhere, but I'm here for my scrobbles and stats. The only similar website that seems to exist is libre.fm and it's not very good.

Well, I am not sure why they thought or think that shouts are the most important thing to focus on. I couldn't careless about voting up a stupid shout or leaving a reply. They already have killed what made lastfm so unique  and different, so now they're trying to be twitter, tumblr, and facebook.

I'm still at a loss as why they essentially started from scratch.

Everything was working fine but then they take most of it away and bring it back bit by bit.

Should have slowly migrated stuff over to the new style

We heard that half explanation 1000 times. It's okay to be honest, "Jim." From what we've seen since the past year is much more than that. Don't you think?

Apart from an understaffed and underfunded development team and a too optimistic time plan it sounds reasonable to me. But then I work with software development.

Jim, are you saying that this other option (shutting down last.fm) was on the table at one time? Is it a guess on your part or something you've heard/read someplace?

It may have been considered shutting down Last.fm. There was only two options, recode the back-end or giving up. I don't know about you, but I prefer that option.

I also don't understand the point of that big annoying advertisement at the bottom of the page because I don't listen to hipster, pop, or rap music. I am pretty sure I am never going to click on any of those stories.

all rejoyce! this time they did listen to us: the site is no more beta... or so they say. It should have been easy enough to modify the design to change this.
Still wondering what happened to all the functions we were promised would have been "back in few months" and for which we are still waiting for: journals, groups, playlists, etc.
