After almost 10 months of being ignored, I officially give up.

I was okay with the site change. I just wanted to be able to delete artists and songs from my library again. So I asked the staff for help, an ETA for the feature to come back, anything. After almost 10 months of being ignored, I officially give up on Last.fm. I really tried to stay but they clearly don't care about their users. I've been on this site since 2008 and it is heartbreaking to see what it has come to. This used to be one of my favorite online places to be and despite everyone's patience, you managed to destroy it. I won't wait another 10 months for a reply. Goodbye.

OK, my mistake. I thought the thread starter was looking for answers. Looks like it was just an another excuse to whine.

Excuse to whine? It's been EIGHT MONTHS since they launched the beta and 7 1/2 since that thread was started. All that official reply says is that it's on a to do list. How you don't see that isn't helpful is beyond me. Most people, myself formerly included, just want to know when feature x, y, and z will come back so they don't have to waste their time waiting TWO WEEKS for an update only to get something that should not take so long.

Don't you think it would say so if a date was decided on? What possible reason do you think there is to keep it a secret?

Because most likely there is no date? You've also lost a lof of respect dude for accusing anyone who comes here of "whining". Those are concerned users who were given some half-ass product/service and no good and clear channel of communication with the staff.

Oh why I bother, this will get archived and lost as most of such threads.

Yes, there is no date set yet. I guess the new catalogue manager is the highest priority now. Anyway, the original question was indeed answered so the claim of "being ignored" is not true. That a specific date for it wasn't given is another issue.

It's whining when you hear the same complaints over and over for 8 months. Yes, features are missing. Yes, the website should have been completed before launch. Yes, progress is slow. But it's here now and no amount of complaining will bring back the old site. Deal with it.

To be honest I'm still happy Last.fm still exists. I'm quite surprised CBS hasn't just binned it.

Yes, there is a problem when people don't accept "We don't know when" as an answer.

May I ask how anyone remotely responsible can think it's a good idea to have someone as hostile as you as an official rep?

I'm not an official rep. I just answer questions. Some obviously don't like that.

That green badge sure makes you look like one. Maybe staff should reconsider how these are awarded.

Perhaps, and perhaps they should also consider banning users who aren't here to file bug reports and ask questions they want answered.

I have actually never banned anyone from this forum, but if you are I guess other also may ban trolls and spammers.
I'm actually hurt that you consider me a mean tempered person as it has no base in reality. You may disagree with what I write and I don't sugarcoat it, but I always try my best to help people.

Haha. Sure, if you want this platform here to become as empty a wasteland as Last.fm's facebook page, go ahead and start banning users left and right.

svilcans, they can go ahead and consider banning users who aren't here to file bug reports, but...I mean, hell, *8 months ago* I was filing bug reports and all I received was deafening silence.  Last.fm asks for feedback, for bug reports, and, for months and months and months, did jack about them.  Almost never even *acknowledged* the damn things.

Again, I am reminded of the boy who cried wolf.  Last.fm has a significant amount of responsibility in the attitude that has pervaded on this forum.  Either they should have just not bothered with a forum or, you know, have been decent people from the start of the forced-beta.

The atmosphere on this forums blows, I get that, but damn it all, Last.fm staff is doing nothingnothingnothing to deal with the members of this forum.  You know, I big-ass developer blogpost of "what's going on" would help immensely.  The communication feedback thingie.  Users can stare at a stationary hourglass or see a status bar that indicate progress.  One of those feels much slower and much more painful than the other.  Same thing applies in software development.  You keep your mouths shut for months, possibly giving tiny little snippets of "oh and this one feature is now kinda there" without any kind of indication of an actual plan, and coupled this with the already abysmal rollout of this beta...
...Last.fm has pretty much zero credibility.  The userbase here does not believe, and frankly I think has no reason to believe, that Last.fm is dedicating any real time/resources to this endeavor.  It feels like they have one high school programming intern working on this thing for 5 hours a week, with the goal of "just add some stuff."

And some of us really liked this site.  We found some utility with it.  We found some fun with it.  And a lot of the utility and fun we had, well, was just pulled out from under us.  Without warning.  With bunches of missing features.  With a bunch of ignored feedback.

Basically, there is a section of the userbase that is pissed, we've felt spat on, and honestly, at this point, I really do want an apology.  I don't need flowers or anything like that, but I'm really insulted (not by you, but Last.fm).

"Perhaps, and perhaps they should also consider banning users who aren't here to file bug reports and ask questions they want answered."

We spent a whole week with you on album art, opened 3 libraries (4) one you didn't bother with, gave you a number of links to art you said that did not exist and all we got was insults, how strange our music was, etc. Even the original person who posted said "you didn't get it" - should they ban you for not knowing?
