It's not that I'n unhappy with the redesign, but I'm sick and tired of last.fm's problems and the fact that they don't listen to user complaints or concerns. I've been using this website since 2008, but I'd like to go elsewhere.

I just need to scrobble music. You know? sometimes I just listen one song and forgot the artist, I used lastfm to remember an old song or artist or discover a new one. Scrobbling the music isn't just milestones it was a way to remember the names and all stuff.
If someone knows another site that scrobbles music please tell me. thanks.

vk.com? you mean vkontake.. yeah I have profil there for years but they don't have wide music library, prety much underground but lack of artists from all countries.. x.x

and yeah I agree with Scarlett! and that's why I am upset I lost 2000 artists with this change, those I don;t remember you know 2000 out of 7000 I listen some I remember but those who I listened 3 years ago hardly could remember all. I stored everything on last.fm and now it's lost, everything for believing and loving and using last.fm unforgivable to their team.
I as stupid not to save it anywhere else so I could just use it and go from the site.

Congratulations for deleting all useful features like.friends, neighbors and attended event! I really need to find another music site... such a pity, I use last.fm since 2006 and it's really sad to see how you've messed it up...

Yes. Why do they have a follow button when you can't even see what the people you are following are listening to? Makes no sense at all.

Sadly I don't think there's a comparable alternative to Last.fm. If you'd like to send a message to Last.fm think about installing an adblocker on your web browser (ublock for Chrome and AdBlock Plus or Edge for Firefox. Anytime you visit, you'll be using their resources and giving them nothing in return in terms of ad revenue.

Yeah i can understand peoples frustrations with new Last fm, but is Libre fm any better? People are leaving Lastfm due to missing features and going to a site with even less. I would welcome any lastfm alternvatives but at this moment Libre is not one.

I got my scrobbles now, just waiting for them to go on libre.fm now.. Hope you can get yours too!

ONE THING
you cannot delete songs on libre.fm either so now I have like over 300 "remove the last.fm beta website design" plays there too. So if anybody wants and knows how to edit libre.fm html, could add the deleting option there, I would be really thankful.

Leaving for good? If you have used this site since 2008 you have seen many changes and re designs. Even the take over of the site by CBS. Remember the last big re design made everyone go apoplectic to the point they swore they would never come back. All websites have problems. And this site more than many does listen to our complaints and concerns. They weren't getting enough people volunteering to go on the new site, so they tossed us into it, no holds barred. And yes, a lot of us freaked. I did. I actually teared up this morning. All I had worked on for seven years was gone? What other site is as good as last.fm? I have tried a dozen others. Some aren't even around anymore. Give them a chance. Why go elsewhere? Can't you scrobble from other sites? Rdio? YouTube? Practically anywhere with a browser add-on or the Universal Scrobbler? Give them a chance. It might not be as bad as you think.

why it's outdated? for great customization? layout was ok and platform, it needed just to be UPDATED but NOT REMOVED.
but no, they didn't want to work their asses for something that big. easier is to launch beta unfinished crap with fancy look..

I cant even scrobble right now, I struggle to find a point in giving them more chances when they foolishly dumped an unready beta on everyone which is so flawed I cant even use the core function of the website anymore properly.

"since 2008 you have seen many changes and re designs"

Been using last.fm for 10 years and don't really remember any redesigns at all. The interface was perfectly fine and could have been modernized gradually instead of messing it all up first.

There's a new site that has been mentioned on here, http://blog.hatchet.is/

It's not ready yet and there isn't a beta site yet but keep an ear out for it. Hopefully it'll be better than last.fm.

Hello, I have a question I need to consult. You see, I have no fixed Internet connection. I never really do listen to music from web services like Spotify, sometimes just checking out previews via Bandcamp but that is all of it. Instead I have an average library of lossless rips stored on a hard drive. For me, there never was a possibility to scrobble anything 'constantly', so that one could see what I was actually listening to. However, I was accessing web once every few days, say once per week to send all the data collected during that time by the off-line set scrobbler. I have used an older version (1.5.4.24567), but it always worked excellently. I could control how much tracks did I listen to during the aforementioned period very easily, via Help->Diagnostics and I have been mostly uploading a big amounts of scrobbled tracks, like 500, or 1000. I was struggling to have always a 'round number' (in a colloquial meaning of the term), since it was easier to see if I do lose anything, but honestly, I never lost more than 20-50 scrobbled tracks in the worst days, and I was happy that I can collect my data off-line even if I cannot always share everything I listen to. My average was about 200 scrobbles per day (I usually listen to music even while I'm asleep, about 17-18 hours daily), I had no reason to complain. Thus, I have finished with 323650 scrobbled tracks on August 12, when I have submitted the data last time after four years of scrobbling.

Therefore, my question is like this: do any of the Last.fm alternatives will make available similar possibility of the 'off-line' scrobbler's settings, or howsoever would You prefer to call it? Will I be ever again capable of collecting my data off-line and then uploading them once every few days via? Is it possible to ask the persons responsible for Tomahawk, Hatchet, or Libre.fm if a similar process can be put in work?

I don't know your case when it comes to country. But my country isn't supported by ANY of those services. Except youtube.
and Libre.fm doesn't have any scrobbler supported for Windows. I am using Winamp for scrobbling music that I bought and have on computer...
So for now I have high hopes only on Hatchet..
but yes you can twitt TOmahawk or send emails to Hatchet blog I guess... *o* I'll do the same later when I copy all my info from last.fm profile. for now I am on messages and Inbox dealing... x...x

one possible correction, @svetlana. i don't think it's true that you can't scrobble to libre.fm from windows. the list of clients i have posted leads me to believe that there are many options on windows (although i don't have a windows computer to check myself): http://web.archive.org/web/20150224132832/http://bugs.foocorp.net/projects/librefm/wiki/Clients winamp 2 is listed as one of the supported clients. for winamp 2, the clients list says "hosts" which means you have to change the hosts file as described by the wiki here: hosts file entry. the libre.fm server you have to forward to is incorrectly listed in the wiki though; it is actually 213.138.110.190 that you need to include.

anyway, in addition to libre.fm, i am also looking forward to trying tomahawk/hatchet. (or going back to last.fm if it starts to look like something more "normal"/useful)

there's no scrobbler option. that way I can't store my music. I don't have all time to sit infront of computer clicking artist and song by song to make library while I already listen music... this site isn't useful that much.

People always freak out when there is a new re-design of a site. Give it a few months to calm down and everyone will be happy. I remember the meltdown when Facebook put the timeline in. Now nobody can rememer anything else.

Just looking at Libre.fm, it looks like it has a similar style to new last.fm with far less features and no easy way to import scrobbles. Not sure why anyone would jump over to there.

Website has to work properly on my desktop. Trust me, I am a user myself.
Missing the point here - you are one user but overall a website in 2015 should work across every device or you risk losing a lot of users.

"Seems like a no-win situation here. There site was getting old and stagnating so they needed to change it to get people using it again. However by changing it they will lose existing members unhappy with the change.

Still, I cant belive people would ever leave an established service like this for something like Libre.fm which has even less features."

I'm not understanding this, why would people leave because the site was old and where would they go instead? Other than the old site being buggy there wasn't anything wrong with it and it worked fine on mobile. Sure it wasn't mobile friendly but that is when lastfm could have simply made a mobile version and kept the desktop version as is.

The way last.fm was updated here people will leave because this site isn't properly run. They replaced the site with an unfinished beta site that isn't completely functional and there's less features now, whether they will bring everything back is really up to last.fm but they should have done all that to the beta site before switching over. But now with this new site the about me is restricted to 200 characters, plain text and basically had lost some of the functionality my old profile had so that is driving people away not only that for others they can't scrobble. I won't scrobble until the site is back to 100% or there's something better in the works.

What happened to last.fm is terrible, but you don't need the site to listen to music.

Well then please tell me Mr. Developer why does last.fm looks different on my PC and smartphone? The only similarity that I could mention up to date is a lot of wasted white space.

Give it a few months and people will be happy? Your post is already a month old and I'm still not back on the site (and I'm not the only one). Let's see what happens first - they make beta usable or people find alternatives to this Lost.fm.

Sorry to revive an old thread. Maybe if we had a real FORUM still. :l

Just read another thread about this place. It's brand new so it's still in alpha but I've never really been disappointed in MusicBrainz. And since it's linked to MB it'll probably use its database for tags. It's importing my history now.

This seems cool. I wish they had more official info directly available right now but found a little after some Googling (I don't want to get too excited from what the Google tells me but oh well). Quoted from an article about it,

So, how does it work?

Crowdmix creates individual music charts based on the users listening habits. You will be able to connect with your friends, favourite artists and brands in a unique and contemporary way.

Profile charts are what I miss most so if this is true then this would be a great replacement for me. I hope it can replicate the lovely rec system too (the old one of course, I haven't bothered with the new one too much because it's pretty much useless to me).

The whole idea of Crowdmix kind of reforces the idea to me that this Last.Fm beta mess was a deliberate attempt to lose its users...since the Crowdmix launch is right about the corner (in max. 2 weeks), and it is the same target group we're talking about. Plus, it received 17million in funding and is already super hyped before anyone has even been able to get an account. And the idea is totally similar to Last.Fm. Coincidence? perhaps.

It seems pretty legit though, but I'm not pretty sure whether they are going as "new" last.fm, if so, a better choice for alternative chart music and social site.
