The new website is horrendous. I've had so many last.fm profiles over the years since around 2007 and it's always improved for the better until now. It looks like they aren't even bothering to listen to feedback and make this mess better, so that brings me to this question. Is there any such thing as an alternative to last.fm? Something that scrapes your data and compiles it into charts etc. and then adds social networking to it? Because just using this website right now is a headache..

I agree, because writing 'alternative last.fm' in the search field is really difficult.

You're adorable. Why don't you learn how to operate a simple search function next time. There's enough duplicate threads here already.

There seems to be some kind of bizarre error where your posts are all translating onto my page as a condescending wanker who has far too much time on his hands. Must be another coding problem with this new website!

I think you're confusing this site with a completely different one. Good job.

No, it has not always improved with each major change. It was calamitous when last.fm stopped streaming music and shifted, eventually, after providing NO MUSIC AT ALL, to the awful-sounding, bad remakes and wrong-titled, wrong-artist, tiny subset of even the smallest libraries, that we got from YouTube. The next major change was sure to take into account what an awful, bonehead decision that was, not least because new paid subscriptions must have fallen to a trickle at that moment. Right? Stupid, short-sighted ineptitude. AGAIN.

have you tried using the site at a zoom of 75%? helps make the site a little easier to use. I think it's crazy that they expect people to use their site that zoomed in!

I say this because there doesn't really seem to be a good alternative that does the same stuff last.fm used to do, at least right now. people talk about libre.fm but personally it doesn't have most of the functionality I want (only goes back 6 months) and I couldn't even figure out how to scrobble stuff

Sorry for late reply guys, yes Ramunas has linked the the best one available. There is also one that changes the boxes back to square instead of circular. Just search "no circular themes"

Sorry to revive an old thread. Maybe if we had a real FORUM still. :l

Just read another thread about this place. It's brand new so it's still in alpha but I've never really been disappointed in MusicBrainz. And since it's linked to MB it'll probably use its database for tags. It's importing my history now.

Looks interesting. The idea is public sharing of your scrobbles, which seems a decent goal. The other goal is to preserve your Last.fm data, which may be prescient.

This part is interesting:
Q: Why do you call your data Listens?
A: The term scrobble is a trademarked term by Last.fm and we cannot use it. Instead we use the term listen.

I didn't find anything like last.fm, but I can suggest you rateyourmusic, where you can obviously rate your music, add friends, join the communities...so it doesn't scrobble but I think it's a good alternative by now
