Hi, is it maybe possible to give a hint on what to expect on the next update and when we can expect this (a week, 3 weeks, 2 months...). Loved the last updates so i'm just hoping this update will be huge because it takes a lot of time compared to the last updates :)
thanks in advance :D

There's supposed to be a smallish update today, but there's currently an issue with the site at the moment, so I'm not sure if we'll hold it back until things stabilise.

Btw the time between updates doesn't necessarily mean that a bigger feature-packed update is coming. If there's no forum post, it usually means we're working on mundane stuff to keep the website ticking along, like seo, ads, bug fixing, moderator tools, and backend improvements.  The kind of boring updates that are essential, but not worth drawing attention to.  Right now the team are working on restoring Spotify playback (shouldn't be much longer) and updating our scrobble storage system, so I'm afraid the user-facing updates are going to be fairly modest for a while.  Sorry about that, it will pick up again though.

That's good to know! I'm fine with small updates and stuff, it's just nice to know that stuff is still happening behind the scenes. :)

Will there be any updates coming up for the desktop scrobbler app?

It seems as the latest itunes version for mac has broken some functions (scrobbler not launching with itunes, duplicate scrobbles appearing as device scrobbles).

Hope it doesn't go unnoticed.

Thanks Jon, this is all we need to know. :)

Realize we can be a bit...demanding in terms of wanting the latest news on the site. I hope everyone on the team knows that it comes from our love for last.fm and we appreciate everything they do. A quick update here and there, even if it's the most mundane thing, is welcomed.

I'm not trying to be a dick, and please don't take this personally because I totally get that this isn't your job, but are you seriously telling us that in the last six weeks the development team at last.fm has been unable to do anything other than keep things ticking and fix stuff they've broken?

Okay, to clarify: What you're saying is that for the last six weeks, there has been no update or even any progress at all on any of the major features that they removed from the website, such as groups, journals, or profile customisation? Because the entire development team has been unable to do anything other than keep the site operational and work on unspecified "backend improvements", and fixing broken Spotify playback?

I don't know what's going on behind the scenes there but it really seems like there's no sense of what the priorities ought to be, and if it requires your entire team to keep the website merely operational then maybe you're understaffed?? If the backend changes are important then I'm sure the community would want to know about them, and if they're not important - or if you don't think the community would care - then perhaps you shouldn't be prioritising them?

I get that I'm coming across like a dick, and I'm sorry about that, but damn, I've been using this website for about seven years now across various accounts, and been a Premium subscriber for most of them, and I love this site and want it to make a comeback, which is why this frustrates me. It's really disappointing.

I might be misinterpreting your post though, in which case I apologise.

More backend improvements, bug fixes, etc would be my guess. The pinned conversations at the top of the main page also detail what projects they're working on: new Spotify player and iTunes update/scrobbling plug-in compatibility issues which are probably taking up a lot of staff resources.

If all they can do in three months is 'backend improvements' and 'bug fixes' then they're not doing a remotely good enough job.
