I think this was a design decision, you don't have to like it, the designer's boss has to.

It depends what benefit you're looking for from this layout, that isn't provided by the current library.  The current layout is designed to emphasise your listening history, scrobbles, and charts.  If there's a clear functional benefit to adding the grid format to your library, I'm sure we'll consider it.

I don't think the grid format is too important (although it's always nice to have more options), but you should definitely be able to sort your artists A-Z, not only by play count.

Although it looks nice, an image grid of 18 artists would be very difficult to use for people with large libraries. What we have now works well and (as Jon said above) the Scrobble count bars give a great visual representation of our listening history and how many Scrobbles we have for each artist, album and track.

I'll admit that I miss the image grid in the library but I can understand why a list is being displayed instead. It will be nice, and this is my suggestion, that we should have an option to display more than 8 artists in our profile; making kind of similar to an image grid, with the option to customize the display of artists...and clicking on 'more artists' would lead us to the list. :)

Echoing the above sentiments, I miss the image-rich look of the old library. I think it's unlikely to ever return, however.

Suggestions for improving the current version's look, I would love it if the images displayed in our libraries (artist/album images) were larger in size as you almost have to squint when looking at them. It leaves it looking rather like a cheerless spreadsheet.

Also, how come you put numerical totals over the listening-stat bars in our library, but not over the bars in our "Listening History" graphs? Seems inconsistent.
