Are you looking for the prog rock band with a dot at the end of their name or the white power racist band? The former is still available, the latter has been blocked, as far as I know.

Are there any information that prove that street punk Discipline are white supremacitsts? I mean link, article, news or something like that? Cause I try to found something at the internet, but there is nothing like that. Also there is nothing like that in their lyrics. They're skinheads but it doesn't means that they're white supremascits or some neo-nazis.

as far as I know they're not really white power racist.
agnostic front would have never played with a band like this.

but anyway, why has it been blocked?

I mean, then why to keep this page for example http://www.last.fm/music/Charles+Manson

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled How does work artist censorship in LastFm?.

My question is related to this post https://getsatisfaction.com/lastfm/topics/artist-page-is-missing

The matter is simply, I noticed long ago that a band page was missing
https://www.last.fm/music/Discipline

and in the previous linked post a Moderator said that the page is censored due to racism reason - reason not really true, because the band Discipline is not supporting white power supremacy

In the meantime other bands related to extreme right movement are still visible, for example
https://www.last.fm/music/Zetazeroalfa, or pages of persons like https://www.last.fm/music/Charles+Mansonhttps://www.last.fm/music/Adolf+Hitlerhttps://www.last.fm/music/Benito+Mussolini ...

Independently by any political vision, I think both pages should be available, Lastfm is not vehicle of propaganda, is just a music social network and the presence of those pages should be just there.

Who's in charge of defining this censorship and according to which motivations this happen?

My request is simply to bring back to life Discipline page.

As the text on the blocked page says, "This page may contain inappropriate content that violates Last.fm‘s Terms and/or applicable laws. Alternatively it may have been blocked on the request of a third party."

Inappropriate content is defined in the Last.fm Terms of Use, as G.G.B. pointed out in the merged thread, e.g. promotion of violence. Applicable laws in these cases would be e.g. the index of the German Federal Department for Media Harmful to Young Persons (Bundesprüfstelle für jugendgefährdende Medien):

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Department_for_Media_Harmful_to_Young_Persons

http://www.bundespruefstelle.de/bpjm/Service/english.html

They do not publish their index on the internet to avoid promotion of indexed bands, so you cannot directly check there if Discipline is indexed and why. But usually Last.fm follows their recommendations, as other streaming sites like Spotify do as well. If the artist profile gets blocked only in Germany or globally is probably decided case by case.

Furthermore there are at least four different artists with that name, as liftarn already pointed out earlier in another thread which complicates the issue, because the profile would have been shared then. I have notified the staff about it, and they will be back in office on Monday.

Are there any updates about this topic? I end up to this page again and I was wondering about yep, the censorship delicate topic.
I read again the answer from Hans-Jürgen and well, last time I felt probably hopeless regarding this.
But I do not feel satisfied with the answer.

Nothing personal Hans, but I am wondering if it is possible to investigate more, as I mention in the first post. I would like to understand what is wrong with one band, and what is not wrong with other bands.
As far as I know Discipline are not a representative band for extreme rights movement and they keep playing live in Europe. Still, as I understood, they were labelled as extreme right band due to some violent episodes happened during some of their live performances. But that was pretty common in a certain scene, specially with band playing without a specific politic orientation, that might bring in the same spot people from total different views.

Anyway, my unclear question is still related to this topic, why Discipline are censored and not for example
  • lots of street / hardcore / punk bands
  • half of the metal scene
  • black music
  • dictators of the dark eras of the 1900 in europe
I don't get why rule is applied randomly and I want the Discipline page back

ps. if Discipline after all are really a extreme right band (and as I said, they would have never toured with Agnostic Front if they were extreme right), I ask sorry to everyone. But still, the page should be visible. That band was and is still a band.

Thanks for reading.

This page is blocked at the request of a third party, it has nothing to with censorship.  Last.fm apologises for any inconvenience caused by this.

Ok, I got the point but it is a super weird third party dependencies, because it works really randomly.

law is equal for everyone, but for someone is "more equal" than for some others

Looks like this is the same old problem, collective punishment caused by missing artist disambiguation. It's a problem for many bands. https://getsatisfaction.com/lastfm/topics/cannot-add-video-to-songs-of-a-band
