Artists auto-redirect?

So I've noticed something while browsing my library. Is the site now automatically redirecting artists even with redirects turned off? I've listened to Tiffany Giardina under her original name (cause that's the name she used on ALL her albums), but now she automatically redirects to her new artist name, Stalking Gia. And it causes problems in my library, cause it says I haven't listened to her yet. Is it gonna stay like that forever?

Come on, last.fm, this is really annoying. It happens to Siobhan Donaghy too, and thanks to that, I can't access any data in my library. It just says I haven't listened to them yet.

Did you scrobbled her music as such (Siobhan Donaghy) ?
Or as  "Siobhán Donaghy" ?

In a similar case (scrobbling a song with "Seven Drunken Night (bonus track)" , it get scrobbled actually as "Seven Drunken Nights" (I saw it clearly in Recent Tracks) without that part of "bonus track" --- but when checking the song's page (id est, for Seven Drunken Nights), it states that I had no scrobbles, and they were about 30 :-))

May this be your case, too ?

Siobhan. And yes, she's being automatically redirected to Siobhán. If you look at her CDs, she doesn't use the accent, so my tags are okay.

Unfortunatelly I see on musicbrainz that her name is WITH the accent.
So it's no wonder last.fm uses this variant (ant thus the autocorrect).

To be fair, though, her real name is actually with the accent, right ? :-)
(despite the covers of her CDs are written without).

Yes, her name is Siobhán. But she goes with Siobhan on her CDs. Not a single one has the accent on it...

It sucks so bad. One of my current favorite artists redirects to a completely different artist just because they share the same last name. This really, really, really sucks for smaller artists whose last.fm pages have been swallowed up by larger artists. It seems they no longer exist? :( What  is the point of giving us that option in settings for it just to be ignored?

Well, to be 100% fair, the option is called <<Auto-correct the spelling of your scrobbles>>
No one can tell for sure what this actually does :-))
But it seems it doesn't replicate the old site Auto-correct functionality.

So, maybe auto-correct is something still one of those options that are to be back, some day ?

This is really annoying. I want to use my own tags, since sometimes the redirected ones isn't actually correct. Will the option to turn off redirect be back?

One annoying example is the Cher track "We All Sleep Alone (Todd Terry Remix)" from her "Believe" album from 1998. This track is automatically converted to "We All Sleep Alone (Remix)" which is a different remix released back in 1988, not the 90's remix. Fix this now please. Such a stupid function anyway.

I have at least one artist currently redirecting to a completely different, unrelated artist, with all the old scrobbles in my library merged, and I would really like to see this fixed.

Bump! In my library, Japanese pop group B i S is replaced with Japanese punk band B i s (these names are spelled with fullwidth letters, so Last.fm treats them as different artitsts), and Japanese pop duo Be-2 redirects to Russian rock band Би-2.

What moron had the brilliant idea to redirect Horațiu Rădulescu tu Horatiu Radulescu and Joseph Haydn to Franz Joseph Haydn? Imbeciles.

Redirect for Haydn is actually correct; after all, this is his name, right ?
It would be also correct as merely Joseph Haydn, since virtually everybody knows him as such. But since they had the database with ONLY the form "Franz Joseph Haydn", you just have to live with it.

But the other artist, is rather ridiculous, besides being incorrect.
They have both names in the database: Horatiu Radulescu and Horațiu Rădulescu, as being different artists, so .... they shouldn't redirect anything.
Or maybe the slight incorrect form Horatiu Radulescu to the correct one Horațiu Rădulescu.
This is clearly a mistake --- someone in the staff, can you correct this ?

Let's then redirect Bob Dylan to Robert Allen Zimmerman, John  Lennon to John Winston Ono Lennon and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart to Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart because, hey, those are their names after all, right?
Well, no, not right at all. Fuck their database and their retarded redirections. I can live with the new site being a huge mess but not with this. I was always striving to scrobble the correct artists, tracks and albums names and here comes some idiot pissing on my work. And i am sure there are countless other examples.

Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart would be a great name for a death metal/grindcore band.

Bump! Band "La música de Erich Zann" redirects to "LA MÚSICA DE ERICH ZANN" (0 scrobbles, 0 listeners) even with "+noredirect" in URL.

Have they said anything about this or given a timeframe? I'd like to listen to my wrongly redirected artists again without having to manually delete loads of scrobbles afterwards. It's not even a "cosmetic preference" redirect, it's audiobooks being merged with an unrelated artist for example.
