Associate Spotify Links With Tracks

  • Under Consideration

As you can see in the screenshot above, hardly any of my top tracks have the play button next to them. Most of my recommendations don't have Spotify associated with them which means using Last.Fm to play my suggestions is useless.

There have been many comments about this in the past - can something be done about this? Possibly searching for the track name on Spotify and playing the top hit, that's got to be better than nothing.

Certainly a lack of related Spotify links seems to plague new and recent releases. I'm sure the Last FM team is working on the database ultimately auto-linking with Spotify tracks, but I think it would be a good idea if a "submit Spotify link" feature was also rolled out with the database.

It's been discussed earlier and if I recall correctly the problem is that Spotify is supposed to provide a list of what tracks are playable, but it's very outdated.

Does anybody know the current status on this? I can't find a post mentioned that, but I think that somebody from the staff mentioned once that they use the Musicbrainz links as well. On each release page on Musicbrainz, there is a possibility to add a link to the album on Spotify.

Is this still being used? Or are there other ways to contribute to that as an user?
