I have over 2,500 Scrobbles for this track. The majority all duplicates on the 8th July. This is a major nuisance and I have noticed that it isn't just this track that has a high number of scrobbles (in the 100s or 1000s).

Is there any functionality that can delete the duplicate scrobbles? I could cope with a couple but having 2,500 is ridiculous and messes up my stats.

Something similar happened to me. I have a track that says I scrobbled it over 60x with the exact same time stamp. I hope these disappear on their own.

Same here. It's really frustrating to look at my profile and see so many duplicates. It really messes up the accuracy of my charts, which is concerning considering they've always been the site's main appeal for me.

Wow, my duplicates are not up in the 1000's or even 100's, but it sure is frustrating. And most of them I had already deleted when they first was duplicated. I hope they will eventually disappear on their own.

I don't know about bulk delete, but individual scrobble deletions is supposed to be returning soon. https://getsatisfaction.com/lastfm/topics/deleting-editing-scrobble-function

I'm in the same boat with Ben... A couple of specific tracks have been duplicated hundreds of times each, amounting to 4000 extra scrobbles. And several of those tracks are now occupying spots among my top ten most played tracks of all time... suffice it to say, this is bothering me. A lot. I'm not even going to bitch about the new site (even though it's clear that you've released it way way WAY too soon), I just want my charts back in order.

You can see on this screenshot that most of the 4000 dupes were submitted on July 25th - it's very unlikely that I actually listened to 3500 tracks that day ;)
Anyway, I'm not keen on having to delete thousands of duplicates manually one by one, tbh. So I'd like to know as well if this will get fixed or if it'll just resolve itself as soon as the migration is complete (when, exactly, will the migration be complete??). I have seen posts by staff that deal with wrong scrobble counts, but in those cases the users had less scrobbles showing on the new site. I'd like to get some acknowledgement that staff is aware of the thousands-of-duplicates-issue and some reassurance that this will be dealt with.

This is my situation, too, though I think the largest amount of scrobbles added to a single song is around 75 or so, which still adds up to hundreds of excess plays in total. Most of mine seem to be concentrated around July and the very beginning of August as well. It's super frustrating that we have no idea if this will be resolved automatically or, if not, when we'll have the option to try to delete them manually! My top-played tracks charts are extremely inaccurate because of this, too.

75 duplicates for one track is bad enough! I could whistle past 3 or 4, but when we're talking about dozens and dozens of tracks... A high number like that totally screws with top tracks and top album charts, and you're right that this is absolutely frustrating.

I guess I was lucky - the tracks that got duplicated the most for me are from a band I actually like (Modest Mouse). It might as well have been some cheesy "guilty pleasure" of mine, I could have ended up with a huge embarrassment as my Top Track of all time ;-P

My top 9 overall tracks have been scrobbled twice each.
One of those appears 84 times now though.

Just an update, the scrobbles seem to have been deleted automatically which is great news. Hope it's the same for all of you.

I still have 4,406 duplicates. When will last.fm automatically delete mine?

This occurs when in options specified - scrobble track at 50% or below. At 100% should never send duplicates. Instead Last.FM program, I use foobar2000 and Audioscrobbler (1.0 by Florian Heidenreich) and never faced a similar problem.

That's interesting, Alex. I haven't had any duplicate scrobbles since the site update but I noticed this morning that one of my favourite friends/followers is showing not just duplicates but triplicates and more. I've also noticed that the tracks that are scrobbling several times are brand new ones(the new Foals album, for example) but not anything older. He'll never complain and will just delete them but maybe I should tell him to Scrobble at 100 percent.

I have a small query. I wonder if one of the Last FM team can tell me if it's now safe to update ITunes and the desktop scrobbler. Many months ago, I did update ITunes but reverted back to an older version because ITunes wouldn't communicate with the scrobbler. The aforementioned friend/follower did the same thing. No hurry for a reply but I would like to know.

@Ben: yep, all 4.000+ dupes have disappeared from my library once migration was complete. Yay! :) Very happy that I got around that manual clean up...

@Alex _, that's good advice - I always had that setting at 90% when I was using the official client. But the massive duplicate-problem that many of us experienced this summer could not have been avoided by this setting - the server was somehow misbehaving, leading the scrobbler clients to constantly re-submit individual scrobbles that had already been recorded.

@George336: I haven't seen a single duplicate since the new site went live either. I read in this thread that the new system basically doesn't support storing duplicates - strange that your friend is still having this issue.

PS: Regarding iTunes 12.2.2: I use third party clients for iTunes/iPod scrobbling, so I can't tell you how well the official client works - but for what it's worth, it was mentioned here that the caching-bug is supposedly fixed.

How did your 4,000+ dupes disappear? I still have 4,406 duplicates in mine. They never went away.

Thanks. So I can risk the updates to both?

I'd screenshot my friend's page but I haven't had his permission to do that so I won't. But he played the Foals album this morning and all of its tracks are showing multiple entries on his page. Another new track from a very famous band has done the same. Everything else has landed correctly. So that is strange and, I think, worth mentioning on here.

Honestly? I don't know... I haven't used the official Last.fm scrobbler in years. I have zero issues with iTunes 12.2.2 and my third party scrobbler and one would assume that the same should be true for the official client (...). But, as you probably know, it's a real pain to downgrade iTunes after installing a big update, so you might want to make sure and ask in one of the iTunes threads to get confirmation from other users before upgrading.

I'll have to apologise for my earlier post. The friend I was referring to listened to the all the tracks I thought were duplicates/triplicates/etc many times. The app he uses puts repeated plays into one block. So @somepixiessong was absolutely right.

Feeling a bit stupid now.

No apologies necessary at all, George :) Many of the third party scrobblers for mobile devices (and iPods as well) submit repeated plays like that.
But thanks for following up on this, it's good to know that the new system is working correctly after all (or so it seems).

This fucking sucks. I have duplicated scrobbles only with Spotify. This started after the new last.fm (seems pretty beta to me) came compulsory for everyone.

Of my 5,000 most recent scrobbles, I have 2,223 duplicates.
Of my 63,000 all-time scrobbles, there are 5,056 duplicates.

Ouch. I want the duplicates removed.
