Buying a mp3 player. And tracking with last.fm

If i buy a new  not a expensive mp3 player.  Which one can be tracked easily? With foobar or itunes. I don't want to buy apple.

You can buy one which is supported by RockBox and use the RockBox firmware instead of the original. Then you can activate Last.fm logging and later upload the log file to Last.fm. Just keep in mind that scrobbles older than two weeks won't be accepted by Last.fm anymore. 
Alternatively it should be possible if the player runs on Android OS and has WiFi.

Who buys a dedicated mp3 player these days? Every smartphone is an mp3 player anyway.

Smaller size, prize, weight, and a longer battery life are features that still matter in some cases.

I can see battery life being a strong argument but not prize since you're spending extra on top of the purchase of a smartphone.

an ipod classic isn't compatible anymore...

I was able to scrobble my ipod classic on Windows using a 3rd party scrobbler named Qtscrobbler
