Glitched ghost autocorrects, both appear in library

This is not a +noredirect problem per se, but a wrong autocorrect (which i have turned off, mind you) nonetheless.

I'm scrobbling a band called CLANN and it gets “autocorrected” to Clann Lir all the time.

To be more precise, it gets scrobbled to both, in a way: On my profile page, under Scrobbling Now it shows up as "Clann Lir" (wrong), under Recent Tracks below is shows up as “CLANN” (correct), under Top Artists and Top Albums below it shows up as “Clann Lir” (wrong).

The scrobbler app (version 2.1.37 for iTunes 12.6.2, Windows) behaves mostly the same, but the Now Playing page shows the correct information, except that it keeps telling me that “This is the first time you've listened to CLANN” (which is obviously wrong).

Plus: in my Library i got both with the same scrobbles:

Hmm, this does seem like an odd case! You're right that there's no visible autocorrect for either artist, and from a cursory check, it's also affecting all other users to scrobble CLANN, but not users that are directly scrobbling Clann Lir. It seems like an autocorrect from CLANN to Clann Lir that's not fully formed.

I'm sure someone else can confirm this, but I'm pretty sure that whatever the cause, it's likely to be some sort of byproduct of the catalogue problems. For example, the issue you're seeing seems similar - but not the same - to this one, which Last.fm staff member Jon has identified as a problem with the catalogue. Autocorrections have had issues for some time, not just in terms of the headline problem of not being able to add or change autocorrects or make merges, but also issues with autocorrects that split tracks in the library, and so on. It's being worked on, with a big fix for lots of different problems on the way.

Thanks for checking it out, Katy! And yep, i’ve heard about a fix being deployed in about 1 or 2 months time. Let’s hope it fixes this...

I've actually spotted a very similar example of this phenomenon myself with the artist Raindear. Her music appears as raindear? in my now playing and my charts, even though there's apparently no autocorrect between them. See below:

Her music only appears in my charts as raindear? but then appears in my library twice - once as Raindear and once as raindear? - with identical data (scrobble counts, timestamps, etc). Also, the system won't generate a track or album page under raindear? when I scrobble (one already existed for two of the tracks above, but Diamonds In My Chest didn't, and still doesn't - this link goes to 404).

Yep, this looks like an identical behaviour to my Clann / Clann Lir situation.

Seems that way! I've changed the thread title to reflect the issue and that it's affecting other artists too, it'll make it easier for others noticing the same phenomenon to find it.

I think this behaviour is best explained in a post I wrote here.  Both examples should be fixed when we deploy the new system.
