Compilations not grouping together when scrobbling from iTunes on an iPhone

Hello,

Apologies if this has already been reported or discussed, but I'm new to this forum and couldn't find anything similar.

For quite some time, I've been finding that when scrobbling compilation albums from iTunes on an iPhone that they don't appear grouped together like they used to.

Each track appears separately, but they used to group together to form one compilation album, if I had 'Various Artists' listed under the album artist field.

So, my question is, does anyone know of a fix for this? Or am I doing something wrong? I've experimented with ticking the compilation box, but that doesn't seem to make any difference.

Any help or advice would be really appreciated, because I now tend to steer away from listening to my compilation albums, and I'm really missing them!

I used to scrobble from an iPod and that used to group compilation album tracks together OK, but I gave up on that as last.fm stopped scrobbling completely on both my windows laptop and iPod, so I focus now on listening to music on an iPhone as it does at least scrobble.

Thanks,

WoodyCAFC

If you had literally just searched for "compilation" you would have found this has been discussed before. Multiple times. So I'm not sure what you searched for or where...

Anyway, this is a long-standing issue that will hopefully be sorted for good when the team rolls out the scrobbling update they've been working on. It's certainly an annoying quirk of the system as it currently stands but hopefully it'll be resolved in the very near future.

Ah, I'm sorry - I did see some of those, but I hadn't thought that they were exactly the problem I was having. Plus some of them were two or three years old, so didn't know if they were still relevant. And there were a lot of posts to wade through!

But like I said, I'm new to this forum, so am finding my way around. Thanks for your patience - I know it must be annoying when newbies don't know how it all works.

Thanks also for your reply - it's good to know that it's something that's being worked on.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

No worries - sorry if I sounded snarky.

I can understand why you'd think those ancient threads weren't still relevant, but sadly the pace of progress with the site is that slow :-/

No problem, mate. I do appreciate you taking the time to reply.

When (and if!) this does get fixed, any idea how we'd find out? Other than compilation scrobbles suddenly getting grouped together? Would something be posted on this forum? Or is there somewhere else that's worth keeping an eye on?

Cheers.

I'm pretty certain I read a reply from one of the Last FM team on here that mentioned that they're aware of this issue and that it should be addressed/fixed with the coming updates but as for when exactly, it ought to be this side of Christmas but that's still a guess.

The team will post about notable updates in the Updates & Announcements section of this forum, but they also always highlight the latest update in the top-right-hand corner of this site in the dark grey box.

It's been a while since I posted about this, but does anyone know anymore about any possible fix to the Various Artists bug at all? Cheers.
