A lot of information such as songs names are incorrect.

You can vote on if it is correct or not.
Also Last.fm gets the data from (among other) MusicBrainz and Discogs and there you can fix the errors yourself.

That voting thing, I've never got the impression that actually did anything.

Exhibit A: https://www.last.fm/music/Charles+Mingus/The+Black+Saint+and+the+Sinner

Been voted on for years, it's still there. Complaints run back for at least 7 years.

IMO, the voting thing is broken / useless. They're clearly aren't enough active members bothered to vote and/or the threshold set by Last FM is way too high.

It's a similar problem with image voting for artists who don't have many listeners.

@Jan Baard: What is the problem? https://www.last.fm/music/Charles+Mingus/The+Black+Saint+and+the+Sinner+Lady has track listing while https://www.last.fm/music/Charles+Mingus/The+Black+Saint+and+the+Sinner don't. There is no redirect, but the info is where it should be.

Also, re: MusicBrainz, does anyone know if Last FM scans old entries for updated info, because if it doesn't then we have no way of correcting errors.

I think it does, but I haven't checked.

Would be great to have an official confirmation either way...

I've edited MusicBrainz entries (and even updated ones I've added myself) and seen them change on Last.fm.

However, the site doesn't always choose MusicBrainz or Discogs and it can get stuck thinking a poorly tagged release from say... Amazon is the 'correct' one. I believe this can prevent a tracklist getting updated.

For example, Florrie's Too Late To Remember single being given the remix tracklist has existed for months - even though the correct release data exists on MusicBrainz

Staff replied to my thread on the topic a few months ago here.

Speaking of Amazon, I can't believe the Last FM team didn't build in a filter for all the "<album title> [Explicit]/[Clean]" bollocks that Amazon do on their album names - I mean surely that's a glaringly obvious thing to filter out. They appear to have managed it successfully for "[Remastered]" on track names so it can't be that hard to implement.

Yep. The database is full of such releases. A filter would help and clean up artist pages for sure. But people are still going to Scrobble with these tags and generate new album pages anyway. We really need a functioning auto-correction system that actually works and can merge all releases and Scrobble data together automatically.

Easier said than done.

It would be nice if Last FM's official database listings didn't incorporate them, though.

And the nonsense of "- EP" and "- Single" suffixes. Where does that even come from? Is that from iTunes?

Yep, iTunes do that.

Very occasionally, it's a helpful way to distinguish single releases from the accompanying album of the same name, but as a general rule of thumb it's not necessary. For the aforementioned exceptions, I can understand why that hasn't been addressed yet, but I see no justification for the "[explicit]" / "[clean]" entries.

Looks like they're currently looking for a way to make this possible.

But, the question is, when? Are they going to launch something like this in 2018? I'm willing to help them to fix the mayhem and make sure that trolled database and catalog disappears off the LFM service.
