Is there a way to delete followers, that I don't intend on following so I don't have or see  them on my list ?

I believe you can go to their pages & "unfollow" them by clicking on the button that says "following".

That would only work for people you are already following, not for your followers. The idea behind that is that people can follow you (maybe because of your musical taste) even if you don't want that.

And I am not sure if putting them on the blocking list in your settings would change that, it only prevents them from sending you PMs and shouts.

if you block the person, they cant follow you, i know one person that blocked me and its true, so in short, just 'soft block' the person

OK, makes sense in a way, thanks for confirming. Brian could have used an Ignore list, too, I guess...

Ok thanks .. I don't really care if they follow I just don't want to see them on my list.  I'll give it a try.

Edit : tried both as in soft block and ignore.  Yet I still see the followers... Too bad I didn't think about people who have past away yet still have their accounts or people who have left the site and I can't rid myself of  "The Ghosts of friendships past".....

Mona Lisa of the North, Is 'soft blocking' something different from just ignoring the person? If so, how to make this soft block?

Please, allow us to delete followers! My ex-boyfriend followed me because he harasses me everywhere he can. I don't wanna see my ex-boyfriend among my followers! And now I can't do anything about it. But that is my profile, not his! I don't want to delete whole profile for this, isn't that the obvious need for users to have ability to delete unwanted/ignored followers? Please!

Bump! Any response? You have no idea how disgusting this situation is for me. Why another person have more rights on my profile than I am? I don't wanna see this one particular person among my followers, and I need ability to delete him((

Another user has more rights on your own profile? What are you talking about?

@ Auserkoren - I feel for you I do . Many of us have been there and done that.  The soft block is what was described above.  As I said it doesn't work.  Also the ignore list and the block list does not work. Those users you have blocked or put on the ignore list you will still be able to see messages left for you be it in a shoutbox for an artist or elsewhere. Also any shout messages left for you prior to the change over to the new LFM  you delete will show back up be it on your profile page or the other users page.   You will also find out that a user who deleted their profile from LFM , you will find that their PM's are still there. ( if you recall that if a user deleted his profile the PM's also disappeared - this is not the case any longer.) So the answer is that LFM users don't have control any longer to who has permission to be on your follow / followers list.  I think this is the biggest flaw for LFM,Or those users that are social, because you don't know what person you may talk with on here that has a screw loose.  The users that are more data driven, chart explorers  usually look at a profile, not as a person but as a radio station to listen to.  I rather see the followers section go and turn it into "Personal Radio Stations" thus those who don't want to socialize don't have to. The users you have on your follow list are ones you give permission to be there. At this time  the only remedy would be new profile and name change.

It was a grotesque mistake to replace friends with followers anyway. Now you feel like a creepy stalker if you follow somebody and they have zero interest in you lol. Seriously it was so much easier and nicer having a friend request, you could simply agree or disagree. Now you are either being stalked by somebody you have zero interest in or you're made to feel like a creep because you're stalking somebody.

I mean friend sounds nicer doesn't it? Follower makes it sound like some impersonal Last FM Cult of something equally dumb.

Bottom line: Bring back Friends and friend requests, Last FM!!!!

@ Crystal Mountain.. "friend sounds nicer doesn't it?"  no not really, being on LFM since 2005, I have found that users have different definition of what a "friend" is.  I  have also noticed that those who want this word changed to "friends" again  ( and I'm not saying you, by the way) Often haven't spent much time with the "friends" they have accumulated during the course of time, if they had done so,  many of them would have noticed that those "friends" have left LFM  over a year ago or longer.  Usually the only contact was in the initial meeting with "hello,"  and "great music." Other users on here, think of "friends" as meaning someone you stay in contact with sometimes you may know more about them than just the music they listen to, such as their family members, or worry when you hear about some tragedy in their neck of the woods. A friendship that is worked on, built over time by a common interest such as music.  Other users think of "friends" as new radio stations they don't feel the need to get close and chat away tell jokes or care about the users weather patterns. This group of users are elated that they don't have to wait for permissions ( they are mining data streams). Your "friend" may just turn out to be your creepy stalker. Follower and following has been around a long time and is generally accepted everywhere.Too many meanings to that one little word "friends"

However that being said; I agree with you in this respect  Bring back Control of our page ( Including but not limited to) : permissions back, customise  our view of the follow or following list an alphabetical list. A control to turn off the following list. It isn't the name that bugs me  it's not having control.  As it is now for user auserkoren ,could ask  the ex to delete her from his profile. But what are the chances of that to happen? As it is now he knows what bugs her and nothing she can do about it.  Ask a mod for help?  A staff member?  Can you imagine how many requests Mods, Staff and others will be called upon to do something about this?  This happens more than you might suspect. Usually more men than the women.  Yep Men.. they get into deep with a user and come to find out that they were exchanging sexual scenarios, not with a woman but with a man posing as a woman.  The men wouldn't dare mention it to a MOD, for the sheer embarrassment of it all. Another user I know, was put in a compromising position, in a catch 22, this woman knew where he worked and knew this could compromise his job. She had plans to fleece him or ruin him. Like I said I have seen it all here.  This is an issue that should be addressed and we should have CONTROL BACK.

@ Mona Lisa

Well yes the use of the word "friend" is an abstract one, this is the internet after all, a purely synthetic construct of communities that ultimately bears little relation to real life. My point is that “friend” sounds warmer than the more austere “follower”, it’s a basic psychological reaction that I would have it the vast majority of my fellow human beings would agree with. I have some degree of faith that most of my fellow Last FM users would have the intelligence to discern the difference between internet “friends” and real life friends, though I too am in the habit of falling into cynicism at times:p

Yeah I do take your point about the Last FM community being full of ghost accounts and that there is a habit to collect "friends" while having next to no contact with said user...But aren't most internet communities a lot like that? what's going to be the difference between users collecting mass ghost accounts of "followers" and ghost accounts of "friends"? That habit will continue irrespective of the terminology  so in that regard I agree, the actual terminology is probably irrelevant. Heck you could replace Follower with “Stalker” and the option to follow with a “Stalk” button if you want,;-)

Ultimately beyond our little disagreement your right what I believe is that what most of us want is that CONTROL BACK. It doesn’t actually matter what you call it, whether it be “Friend”, “Neighbour”  “Stalker” Or even godamn it “Follower” I just want that simple option to choose who follows me (or "befriends") me and vice/versa. It  shouldn’t be public either, it should be in the form of private E-mail message like it used to be. Above all else and over and beyond any nitpicking about terminology that is my real point.

" I just want that simple option to choose who follows me (or "befriends") me and vice/versa."

Then you have completely misunderstood why they made the change. Now you can follow a user who you think can enrich your musical universe WITHOUT needing their permission.

You probably can't delete followers, sadly. The whole point of "followers", I feel, was basically Last.fm trying to be like every other boring social media outlet out there, and so people can't really get "rejected" unlike in friend requests, they just don't get followed. It's silly anyhow. Friends were much more controllable and simpler, and it was easy to check up on what they were listening to and bond that way.

I seriously doubt they'll implement removing followers, though really this wouldn't be a problem if we still had "friends".

I hate this feature as well. I couldn't less about followers there was a reason why I denied them on the old lastfm. Now it seems I have unwanted followers on my profile. I only want to be followed by Julia and I only want to follow Julia. If you're going to be like twitter and tumblr at least let us block unwanted followers for personal reasons. Also I do not care who views my profile. I just do not want them on my profile and I do not want to be on their profile or have anything to do with them. Too bad the friend feature is gone, now all I have are a bunch of posers following me. I sure do love how tumblr and twitter let's you block them.

And they (my friends- or sorry, I mean followers..uuh) are not even alphabetically sorted anymore! argue! Maybe the best solution is to delete the whole account...

You can hide the unwanted followers with uBlock Origin (a browser extension to block the unwanted content from sites).

First go to the options page of uBlock and add these lines at My Filters section:
www.last.fm##a[href="/user/username1"]
www.last.fm##.user-follow.label[href="/user/username1/following"]

www.last.fm##a[href="/user/username2"]
www.last.fm##.user-follow.label[href="/user/username2/following"]

www.last.fm##a[href="/user/username3"]
www.last.fm##.user-follow.label[href="/user/username3/following"]

Of course replace the username# with the actual unwanted usernames.

Then block their avatars. Right click and select Block Content and then Pick and select the first avatar. Be sure you select the actual picture (png or jpg), not the container surrounding it. Do the same for the rest.

As for the names underneath the usernames, you can hide them with something like FoxReplace. However, if those users change their avatars or names, you'll need to hide them again. The usernames will remain hidden all the time.

Simply making unwanted followers "invisible" is not the point, I guess. Fact is they are still following you.

Yes, but at least you don't see them everytime you visit your Followers page. This is a temporary solution until Last.fm hopefully add the feature to edit the Followers list.

The point is removing them from my list and their list and blocking them from following me or messaging me. Hiding them is not the point and a waste of time.

@ Alin, thanks for the info, yes it works very good unless you have a user that is always changing  their avi. As you have said, as a temporary tool till either LFM comes up with a solution or another 3rd party script comes around. :-)

Since any features regarding social side of last.fm are still on the to do list even after all these about 8 months, I'm just guessing now that the lack of features to remove a "follower" is something that is supposed to be like that ... all over the internet.
I mean, even Youtube does not permit you to remove some user that at some point in time "subscribed" to your channel; you only can block such user.
Funny enough, you CAN unsubscribe from their channel, so only they could unsubscribe from your channel as well; but you cannot remove them from your side.

The exact situation is on Twitter.
And most likely, other similar sites as well.

Thus, I think we will have similar situation here on last.fm: you can un-follow some user, he/she could un-follow you, but you will not be able to remove them once they followed you.

I have very low confidence that we will have this ability, to remove a follower we don't like to have in our "followers" list !
If I'm wrong, I would be very happy to learn such thing from someone from the staff.

I've updated this one to in progress.  Currently users on your ignore list are not able to follow you.  This is now being updated to break the following relationship (both ways) if you decide to block/ignore a user that's already following you.

Update: this is now live.
