Last fm team - Guys can you please advise if you will be working on improving the desktop scrobbler? For the longest time it has been very unstable and continually crashes, whenever I scrobble iPod plays of over 30 plays the application just curls up and dies! lol

Really annoying but I guess I have got used to it but I want this to be fixed, I mean for real?

Yeah, same here, randomly crashes. Been going on for years. Works better if I just leave it in the background and don't touch anything on the scrobbler, but still sometimes randomly crashes, freezes ect.

Thanks, it felt like I was alone with it. The scrobbler has always been rubbish and incredibly unstable, I've tried reinstalling it many times too.

I wonder if the last.fm team will be able to significantly improve the app in the future? I wonder if we'll get an answer? lol

The iOS desktop scrobbler has been crashing on me constantly in the last few months, mainly since the new site went up. It's really random. Sometimes it's when I submitting iPhone scrobbles, sometimes it's when I log into the computer, sometimes it's when I'm just doing other things. It's random, but a daily occurrence. Luckily my scrobbles still tend to go through.

Disheartening to see that no one from last.fm has responded to this.

It crashes pretty much every day when I send scrobbles through it. I've given up caring now tbh.

I had to redo my laptop and install everything new (iTunes and scrobbler) and I can't even get them connected, everytime I try it crashes and everytime I start iTunes it wants to create a connection though it should already be there. That's really annoying.

Bumping this again just as a reminder, another really important thing that should be fixed. It literally crashes every day, I send my scrobbles through it and it constantly crashes. I feel like I'm losing scrobbles because of it, total pain in the ball sack. :)

I don't think I've ever seen someone bump their own thread this much, but I guess I can't blame phoenixbloom.

It doesn't crash often for me, but it's definitely something that randomly happens from time to time. Regardless of how often this happens to how many people, it's still a problem that occurs and should be fixed.

It's not random crash for me, it's just guaranteed crash when app is trying to send songs list.
Looks like there is only one way - find another scrobbler application that can work with lastfm and itunes.

MP3 is a dead technology with Apple & in general. So an update is needed.

http://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/best-media-players/ dime a dozen. Some are awesome, but if this end is not stable, well it just adds to the enigma.

Btw, excellent vid :)

I only used to get crashes occasionally, but I had two crashes in the span of about an hour just now. It’s definitely gotten worse in the last few weeks. I don’t scrobble from my iPod or Galaxy 4 at all (I gave both of those up as being horrifically unreliable a long time ago); I’m scrobbling exclusively from foobar2000 on my Windows box. It may be a bug relating to Unicode text, as a rather large number of crashes I’ve had have been while listening to Dir en grey or other Japanese artists, but that may just be a coincidence as I’ve been listening to a lot of Japanese music lately.

At any rate, I’ve given up even trying to fight with the scrobbler for now and am just using the Universal Scrobbler. It’s a pain in the arse, but it’s less of a pain than constantly having to restart the scrobbler and foobar2000.

Last.fm: http://www.last.fm/user/Cassandra-Leo in case this helps at all.

When I submit iPhone scrobbles the desktop version crashes for me, resulting in not all of my tracks being scrobbled correctly. It's been going on for a long time now. Is there any way around it?

Everytime I start a song on iTunes, the scrobbler crashes. Been happening for just over a week, just tried uninstalling the scrobbler and reinstalling it, didn't work.

I have the same issue as Rob. Almost every time I confirm scrobbles from a device, the Scrobbler crashes immediately.
