Bumping again, I'm really getting sick of having to shut down iTunes and then checking both "Enable Device Scrobbling" and "Confirm Device Scrobbles" EVERY damn time I want to scrobble plays from my iPhone (which is almost everyday) and then having to shut iTunes down again to uncheck both "Enable Device Scrobbling" and "Confirm Device Scrobbles" in order allow desktop scrobbles to work properly and not double scrobble......REALLY ANNOYING

Another month has passed and still not a peep from anyone. We all see the post regarding the new Windows scrobbler for iTunes, but that doesn't exactly help those of us with Macs now does it?????

4 months since the problem's been acknowledged. This bug induces significant daily hassle to scrobble the right tracks (checking which have been scrobbled or not, unchecking those that have, etc). Pretty painful! I really hope last.fm fixes it soon.

For the sake of continuing the conversation, I've now replicated this on a second entirely different iMac. Save version numbers of iTunes and Last.fm, different user, different music libraries, etc. still getting the same thing.

Just chiming in to say I have the same set of issues: double scrobbles, the scrobbler won’t launch with iTunes, and it won’t save my settings for scrobbling devices so I have to uncheck it every time.

Also of note: sometimes I *do* want to scrobble plays from devices. I’ve been using an app called Eavescrob to do that, but now it’s getting the opposite problem: plays from my desktop are being scrobbled on mobile.

This pretty much ruins Last.fm for me so I’ve stopped paying for premium until it’s fixed.

I get that no fix is simple, but I’d think a short-term solution would be to just delete (or give an option to delete) any double scrobbles. I doubt anyone is genuinely listening to the same song twice at the same time.

me too, Windows and Mac. I'm going through today's last.fm page and deleting the doubles individually. 200+ Good times.

Any update on this... 7 months now since it was reproduced in your office. If it's a thorny problem, fine, but an update of some sort as to where things are at and when/if we might expect a fix would be great.

Hey, the scrobbler app NEEDS an update. There are problems like these, and the interface just looks old. Please update this, it's ridiculous that it's been almost a year and this still hasn't been fixed. Not ok and not a good move by this company. Get on it.

lamo yep, the iTunes logo used in the app is still the Blue icon from 2012. Over half a decade old.

As much as we'd like to, unfortunately we don't have the developer resources to update the mac client at this time.  Sorry for any inconvenience caused by this.  The best workaround for now is to disable device scrobbling as explained in my previous post, or use an alternative scrobbler for itunes, such as Silicio or Neptunes.

I'm sorry ianitor, but we're unable to officially support ipod / device scrobbling any longer. If you have an iphone device, we have a dedicated iOS scrobbling app which you can download from the itunes store.

What do you mean that you don't support device scrobbling any more? I think this should have a better announcement. Will this feature actually be turned off, or will it still work, just that you won't support it?

So I first noticed this problem in February of 2017 and the resolution is apparently to use an alternative scrobbler!?

So there are no plans to fix this issue in the official last.fm mac client? I've been using your site for over a decade, a paid user most of this time, and find this extremely disappointing.

Official scrobbler for Mac was released 7 years ago at last.
7 years... a baby who born that time can already use iTunes.
You should state the future of Scobbler for Mac.

Apple have announced that they're killing off itunes this year, so it's likely that we'll need to either update the scrobbler or build a new one.
