Editing scrobbled albums in bulk (rather than individual tracks)

Firstly, I just wanted to say a HUGE thanks to Last.FM for introducing the edit scrobble feature. It's been so great to be able to go back through years of scrobbles and correcting artist names, track and album titles to make our library even more accurate.

However, it would be amazing if you could add one more element to this: the ability to edit an album title in bulk.

At the moment for instance, if I scrobble an album on Spotify, but it has the wrong album title - having a 'Remastered' or the like - I then have to go through each track individually to correct the album title.

It would be amazing if instead, we could simply head to that incorrect album title and just say 'anything that has been scrobbled with this album title, change to this title'. Hopefully that makes sense.

Thanks!

Also - it would be really handy to have an option to display all 'album artists' in our library section. I have found loads of scrobbles from years past that had weird/incorrect album artists ('Various Artists' for instance), meaning that they didn't correctly get scrobbled under the correct artist, but there's no way of realising that without editing every single track individually.

There is a slightly quicker way to identfy these tracks -- on a given track page, if you mouse over the album title of each scrobble, it should show a link at the bottom of your browser to the album it belongs to -- this link will show the album artist, not the track artist.  I agree though that it would be much easier if these pages simply showed the album artist as well.

Keep in mind that the 'album artist' field doesn't count as a scrobble towards that artist name -- only the (track) artist field does.  Various Artists won't become your top artist if you tag compilation albums with this - in fact, that's the intended use, so that soundtracks and compilations are counted correctly in your album charts, but doing so should never affect your top artists.

Thanks Tom, I'll raise both of these for consideration in the future -- I'd like them too.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Bulk Editing option for albums.

I subscribed to the site recently but i see that there's no option to bulk edit an entire album name all at once, rather than going through individual tracks.

I have over 200k scrubbles so it's very time consuming to keep changing the album title in every single song. If we could just simply change the album title it would make it so much easier!

I see there's a bulk edit option for songs, so why not for albums as well?

I don't like my albums to have variations, like: Deluxe, Deluxe Edition, Bonus Track Version etc... and since I use Spotify, i can't really change that.

The only reason I subscribed was for the editing option. If last.fm adds an option to edit a whole album title all at once.... That would keep me as a premium subscriber for a looooong time.

So yea I wanna know if there are any plans to add this feature soon

Don't forget to vote for this idea if you would like to have this feature, too. It has also been suggested by other users in the two announcement threads about editing scrobbles and bulk editing.

Voted for sure. Is this getting serious consideration by the developing team or something that's somewhere in the back of their heads?
I'm holding off on editing my tracks where I only need to change the album name because doing it on a track per track basis would require too much work.

We need this option. As jazzthieve mentioned, it would request too much work to fix all incorrect tags where you only need to change the album name. Editing scrobbled albums in bulk would be a massive improvement. As I already said, you have my vote. I support this idea. Let's hope the Administration will implement this soon.
