Feature request: report incorrect artwork / strike system

As I've spoken repeatedly about on here, this is not something that can be left to the hilariously inept voting system.

My suggestion is to have a way to report artwork that is definitely wrong - ideally include the ability to submit a URL from a database entry (iTunes, Discogs, etc) to prove the validity of the report. Furthermore, I would recommend a 3-strikes rule against users found to have uploaded the wrong artwork, to discourage willfully incorrect uploads (or just general ineptitude!) - after 3 strikes, you could disable their ability to upload images to Last FM.

Here are some examples:
https://www.last.fm/music/Fifth+Harmony/Reflection/+images/0abc9eeec2c04cefcc763e4e216a201a
https://www.last.fm/music/Nick+Jonas/Last+Year+Was+Complicated/+images/937f47233b73c9318e7db5531cb25...
https://www.last.fm/music/Geri+Halliwell/Playlist/+images/8d9f3845ffc818886386829907f9f904

The problem is, this isn't a matter of opinion - these images are wrong. It's not like the main artist images where people's choice is subjective. The Fifth Harmony and Nick Jonas examples are people uploading the deluxe edition artwork to the standard edition entry - the Nick Jonas link even has "deluxe version" written as the description(!!).

However, the Geri Halliwell one is the worst example because, as far as I can tell, it's a fan-made piece of artwork that has been upvoted over the official artwork, which can be seen on Amazon, iTunes, Spotify, AND Discogs. By all means, change the artwork on your local mp3s if you dislike the official artwork, but uploading it to Last FM is wrong and affects other people.

The underlying point is that these examples (I'm sure other people are aware of further ones) have images that shouldn't even be in running for voting. The Geri Halliwell example is also for an album that doesn't have many listeners (< 1,000) and will have even fewer active users who vote/care about the integrity of the site and their own stats - which circles back to my original comment about how inept/flawed the voting system is on Last FM.

I (and others) shouldn't have to badger friends and followers to downvote these things - it's both irritating and tiring. It would be immensely helpful to have the ability to report images in this way, so that we can then be satisfied that eventually they will be removed, rather than having the perpetual tussle to get them sufficiently downvoted.

The site is a mess 3 years have passed and we do not have a final version. VARIOUS complaints and FEW updates and feedback... I've already given up hope

Yes please. Another example is Red's Innocence & Instinct, the most voted is actually the deluxe edition cover, the standard is white instead of black

Yet another example where an apparent fan-made artwork seems to have been uploaded and voted up by "people"...

Discogs lists 13 versions of this album and none of them feature this artwork.

That report function I suggested would be really handy right about now.

I'll add to the list this single that has the yet to be released full album artwork currently at the top of voting https://www.last.fm/music/Secrets/Five+Years

This is a slightly different issue; in this example, both images are technically correct.

For what it's worth and to avoid this issue, when an album has the same name as one of its singles, I name the single in the format "<name> - single" and keep the main name to refer to the album.

I agree this is still an issue, though, but one that will hopefully somehow be rectified when the catalogue is completed/further along, facilitating unique IDs for albums, single, and artists, for that matter.

Disagree with you here, as this single in particular has it's own artwork, for the song both artworks are correct but for this album it is not. I absolutely hate when artists release title tracks as singles as well

Oh sorry - I misunderstood you. I, for some reason, read into what you said as the single had the same name as the forthcoming album. A quick Google and I see the album will be self-titled.

FWIW, I've upvoted the single artwork and downvoted the album artwork for you but it hasn't shifted it. Another case for some intervention by the Last FM staff.

Well, whoever it is at Last FM who's deleted the fan-art for the Geri Halliwell and Melody Gardot albums - thank you!

Doesn't actually address my request but I appreciate the intervention on those albums, at least.

Here's another example of someone uploading a random/incorrect image.

The problem here is the artist page JoJo is shared with multiple artists. The most listened-to/well-known is the American R&B/pop singer, but this (popular!) album seems to be by a French singer who recorded an album of songs for kids. Being the 5th most popular album for the "JoJo" page, some fans of the American artist seem to have taken umbrage at its presence on the front page and voted-up a photo her as replacement artwork.

Interestingly, and as I mentioned in another thread, this top-voted image was uploaded by a user who has never actually listened to JoJo....hmmm.

I'm seeing a lot of artwork vandalism on this album
