HAVE YOUR SAY - Vote for features

This conversation is no longer open for comments or replies and is no longer visible to community members. The community moderator provided the following reason for archiving: This -> "the official response to this thread was to not use the voting system like this. Instead we should be giving a +1 to any existing single-topic threads that we agree with."

******  PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS POST BEFORE REPLYING  ******

Following a discussion in another topic, the idea of this particular conversation is to create something to help the Last FM team see which features (new and old) we the users actually want the most.

However, to achieve clarity, we all need to follow some simple rules for this discussion:

  1. Leave the first comment reply thread (which I will start after posting this) exclusively for listing features to vote on, described as simply and briefly as possible - e.g. groups, About Me personalisation, custom header images.
  2. Click 'Like' on any of the features in the list you'd like to see added.
  3. Do discuss features to add to the list but please, I repeat, DO NOT reply to this first comment thread. Instead, please scroll down to the box at the bottom that says "write a reply".
  4. If you accidentally comment on the first thread/list of features, please delete it and add as a new reply.
  5. If you want to add a feature to the list do feel free - remember to state it as clearly and briefly as possible - but please check that it hasn't already been listed. Remember, we're aiming for clarity here.

Ideally, it would be great if someone at Last FM (or perhaps one of the mods?) could make this a sticky topic so that it doesn't get lost down the list...

Finally, if nothing in the current list appeals please hit the follow button anyway, so you can vote on any future additions to this list of features.

Obviously, the more people that interact with this thread and vote the better! :)

1. Bring the groups back,

2. A list of tags,

3. Fix what is broken,

4. Playlists,

5. Start terminating profiles that do a fake scrobbling activity.

6. Add an option to see from wich devices Last.FM members are scrobbling.

7. Return "friends who listen" widget back, see here: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/friends-who-listen/meggmbmcebhnbamegfmejpokkjhcnmih

8. Give us the ability to wind-up incorrect list of scrobbled tracks with just one click.

9. Give us the ability to change our username.

10. Do better organizations of notes and notifications, it's a mess.

11. Give us an EDIT button to edit our comments; instead of writing them again by deleting them and losing all of the positive votes that we got for them.

12. Delete duplicate albums

13. Fix the tracklists, it's a mess.

14. Allow us to stream audio tracks instead of videos.

15. Do a better list of neighbors; 90% of them are inactive, so what is the point of having them on your list when they are no longer active?

16. Recent activities.

17. Recent top listeners.

18. Recent groups.

19. Blog groups.

20. Top music groups.

21. Make your application to display avatars properly; I'm sick of seeing default avatars when I open Last.FM scrobbling desktop device, especially when I upload animated avatar on my page.

22. Last, but, not least, FINISH BETA!

For the rest of suggestions and ideas, go here: https://getsatisfaction.com/lastfm/topics/can-you-return-all-of-the-functions-of-last-fm-back

Have a great day.

OLD FEATURE: remove artists from recommendations

Also a stricter neighbour algorithm based on a larger number of shared artists, preferably weighed towards top-50 or top-100  most scrobbled artists from a longer time span (at least 3-6 months, i'd prefer 12 months or even all time). Now it's easy to get millions of neighbours who listen to the same three really popular artists but otherwise your tastes don't really match -- and closer, more eclectic and unique matches get obscured by them.

There used to be a playground feature where neighbours (and recommendations) could be manually weighed towards different artists/tags/timespans/countries etc., that was really neat

Associate youtube scrobbled songs with the album they are in when choose to do so.

AKA: Associate track with album when the album appears in the URL

Examples:

1) Scrobble the album: https://www.last.fm/music/Leprous/Coal/Echo
2) Don't scrobble the album https://www.last.fm/music/Leprous/_/Echo

In example 1 the album appears in the URL, in example 2 there's a blank space there.

Great to see this has already got lots of ideas but can I just remind everyone to check the entire list before adding suggestions - we've already got one feature repeated.

Also, if any staff member or moderator is reading this thread (the hope!), could you delete any repeated requests as well as duplications caused by GetSat, please?

Just like I thought they would. I'm out guys. Thank you Elliot and everybody else for taking the time to do this. After reading Jon's reply, I've decided to stop posting here, unless there's a scrobbling or other issue, listen to my music and scrobble it for as long as last.fm is around. the end. they'll figure it out in time, or they won't. either way, it's not going to be the end of the world.

... and some important circumstances are totally clear now. (as expected) Without this thread you created (and without Samitha's of course) we never would not get the answer by Jon. Those who decide what happened to Last.fm next, aren't here to talk with us about their bad decisions.
Only one question left: What can we do to get the Last.FM we want? (Ja ja ja, I know: push the button ...)

The point for I've wanted to get a confirmation was the structure of decisions. At this point we can see clear now.
Indeed Tiff, it would have been nice to be teached about the rules 500 days before.
And yes, the GetSat voting system is useful like athlete's foot when the ruler behind Last.FM the results of votings use as a thermometer - at best, and decide largely indepent from "the core community" what's to develop at next and what never. (Already this classification (core community = only a part = not sooo important) is a kind of disrespect.)

I share your feelings Ajax. - Of course, what else could I feel? I guess, every question by you and Tiff are worth for a thread (= idea). With enough votes, it can be interesting what happens, when Jon reports to the leadership about "What's up in the community". (Even if we have to see, that the thread will be archived and closed.)
As far as I currently understand, there is Last.fm as the old one and Last.fm + CBS with at least one boss from CBS as the decision maker(s). So in real we're struggling with a black box and Jon is "only" the connection, or keyhole to it, but not the box itself. At maximum a part of it. Ok, reason enough to feel deceived.

So after all and after the missing help by mods or staff in this thread like Elliot was asking for, you can understand, this thread isn't very welcome.

That Rock_Music_1001 is clearly trolling. Since I last visited his page (probably within the last week), he's changed his profile pic to a porn gif. You can tell from his replies to the shouts other users are leaving on his profile page that he doesn't give a shit about this site. He's just doing it to be a nuisance.

If they had actually done so (care about their users' feedback) in the past, the numbers and traffic of said users would not have been decimated as much it has... and this complete downsized overhaul would not have been necessary. Ergo: not going to happen.

Well, that and the fact the official response to this thread was to not use the voting system like this. Instead we should be giving a +1 to any existing single-topic threads that we agree with.

All official responses means nothing as we all already know :) Even if we all will vote +1 to all existing topics the result will be the same. And you know the the answer - it's ZERO :)
Nothing will change. Personally, I don't care anymore about last.fm as before.
If they will decide to close it - I will not be upset.
