Having Issues Still With Replacing Videos, Etc.

I'm using Last.fm on Firefox on Windows 7.

I use Last for the radio function. I kinda don't give a damn about scrobbles or stats. And I listen AT WORK.

That brings me to my first issue. Video relpace for YouTube doesn't work for me. If I want my replacement videos to play, I have to go to the song's page and play the video from there. This is causing a serious issue for me because now I can't BLOCK anything anymore. Thanks so much for that. >:-/ So now that it's totally ignoring my blocks and won't play the vids *I* want, I have nude women and other undesireable things popping up on my work machine. Wanna see what I'm talking about? Check out Mädchen in Uniform by Nachtmahr.

The lack of being able to block also leads to skip skip skip skip all day long. And if I do go ahead and click on a song's page for the video that I selected for that song, I have to go back in my browser and restart my mix. Again, click click click endlessly all day long. And when a live video comes up it's always way louder with people screaming. It hurts my ears. I miss out on songs I want to hear coming up in the rotation if they don't have a video because even though I added a video to them, they never seem to play. My music listening seems more limited because of this.

I'm also annoyed because it doesn't appear I can actually get to the German server anymore. It looks like it's now just a German language version of the American server, and it's not even consistent. You click on another part of the site and it's back to English. It looks like the last update should have fixed but it's not fixed for me.

Also, the radio will randomly stop playing music. I can go get a cup of coffee and come back and still no music comes up. I have to click on my mix again to get it to play. Click click click click.

All of these problems make Last.fm still a chore to listen to. You could have kept the old format. No one would have minded.

Last.fm in it orignal incarnation -- I have been a user for about 10 years -- WAS NOT, I repeat WAS NOT a place to listen to music. Not a place for streaming. It was a social network based upon the music that you played in your own player. Not for streaming. Most of us want to go back to what Last.fm was designed to do in the first place. It's design was to "scrobble" or keep track of the tracks you played. I want to go back to the social aspect of Last.fm and let those who do streaming such as youtube, spotify, Rhapsody and others be able to scrobble to last.fm. So THEREFORE I DO GIVE A DAMN ABOUT SCROBBLING -- the original design of last.fm.

"Streaming" was an add on and not part of the original goals of the site. Obtaining the rights of tracks is an expensive proposition.

Lets see you want Last.fm to correct volume for videos that it doesn't have control over -- youtube.com has that control and to me watching a video isn't what Last.fm. Since CBS doesn't own youtube -- Google does then you should complain to Google/Youtube about volume levels not being the same.

Get Real -- you get what you pay for... buy your music and get over it.

Wow. You're quite an asshole. If you don't have solutions to the problems I present, why answer? This is supposed to be a forum for help. If you cannot provide any, I can't understand why you would waste time and energy replying.

Lets see here I never called you any names so why are you calling me one?. I did over you help -- told you that last.fm has no control over volume levels on youtube videos as they don't own the videos, whom ever uploaded to youtube owns them and youtube/Google so it in't last.fm problem if one video is louder then the next or visa-versa.

Here is an article on the good, the bad, and the ugly on what Google is doing to try to put all video across at the same volume:

You are a very rude man and your reading comprehension is bad. I never asked to control volume of YouTube videos. My whole point was that I don't get videos *I* post. I specify a replacement video, and Last.fm plays the video it wants to play. When it is a live track it's very loud and has screaming. Or often there is nudity, like the Nachtmahr video. If the radio function played videos I specified I wouldn't have these problems. I don't care what YOU think Last.fm should be. I care what I use it for. There is a radio function there regardless of your wishes and I use it. I want it to function the way it is supposed to, and it does not for me. That is the point of this forum, yes? Not a place for people to rant to people who want assistance. As I said, you have no help to offer. Why do you bother? I hope someone comes along who can actually help me with site functionality that doesn't work as it should. Good day to you, sir.

The radio also stops letting me skip and I have to restart my mix again. I would have put this in my original message, but it seems I'm unable to edit it further.

So, @notyerbusines, what exactly do you call "as it should" ?!? Just your particular taste, for start ?
Why on earth do you find that particular video (from the band Nachtmahr) as not appropriate, since not Google (Youtube) nor last.fm found out otherwise ? :-)
It's not that obvious that the radio function should play the replacement video you added for a song; I find this logical, but you know how logic combines with software in general; maybe they simply forgot to add this optio to radio as well ? (on that song's page it works, obviously -- you said it, and I checked it also, for that exact song as well).

Btw, I find the radio function works just as it should be, by (their) design: play songs from the proper sources (in my case, Youtube, as well), and plays them as it's normal. I never experienced stops (as you wrote); even the commercials worked as they were intended. Nothing wrong with MY experience with radio on last.fm.
And I also stumbled on videos with live recordings and none of them were any louder then the other, "normal" videos -- maybe this is something local, in your computer ? (yes I tried the radio "similar artists" from Nachmahr, so if it were to be like this, surely it would happen to me also).

So, I don't quit get what is happening to you.
Maybe you should consider investigating more in depth on your local computer ?
For instance, try to play music directly from Youtube .... did things happen the same from there, too ?
Or from other streaming sources (Spotify ?  Deezer ?)

P.S. When I read this conversation so far, you were the one that started to be rude :-)

P.S. 2 Now I'll try to be a little rude myself: you're serious ? You're listening to this sort of music (as Nachtmahr) at work ?!? And nobody complaints about it ? :-)  (at my side, my colleagues do complain about, when I listen to such music ...).

Can't ANYONE offer actual help? Where is the Last.fm staff?
