I curse alot in my shouts, and seeing "this shout is unavailable" is kind of sketch.  does last.fm moderate on edgy/offensive shouts?  What is the criteria for a shout being "unavailable?"

The only time I've seen "This shout is unavailable." is because the user deleted/deactivated their profile, therefore their shouts are gone as well.

Truth be told, I don't know what happens to a shout after it's been reported. I'd assume swearing is fine within shouts (I've done it, other members have as well), unless you are directing it at someone with the intention of abuse and/or bullying.

I'm not sure what the rule is with swearing either but I can't recall seeing much - if any!? - in shouts. I know I once had a post on here deleted because I swore so...
I second what carnagexcandy is saying; I think the general cause of those unavailable shouts is merely deleted/deactivated users.

Swearing has no place on our customer support forums -- I realise certain announcements and issues with the site can be disappointing or frustrating, but nevertheless if you can't express yourself without using profanity your comments may be deleted or you might be asked to leave.  Our support forums are for users seeking help with problems -- if you want to vent, take it to twitter where it belongs.
