How to request a correction to a mistagged artist/song?

Another old feature I can't see anywhere is the ability to vote for an incorrect artist/song tag. For instance a band I've listened to a lot lately is called Archis, but for some annoying reason it corrects itself to The Archies (quite a different band!). The old site at least had the option to vote for when something like that is wrong (though even that system seemed flawed). Or we had the big forum topics which eventually saw things get altered.

Anyone know if there's any likelihood of Last.fm finally having the ability to correct these kind of mistakes, and if so, on a much quicker turnaround than before?

Thanks!

True that it very rarely works, but we definitely need something to correct mistakes like this, otherwise what's the point in scrobbling if it's not accurate?

Hi Tom,

The artist and track catalogue correction will be implemented in the future. Unfortunately, I am not able to do manual corrections at the moment. I am very sorry about that.

Hi Russell,

The correction system will be implemented with the new catalogue, which is currently being tested. The correction suggestion tool is currently being developed. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. Is there an ETA on this at all?

In the future, in the future - last.fm team repeats as a mantra but I'm affraid that all this previous functionality will never appear again

And why on earth am I redirected to this incorrect track, which adds an extra "main" to the track title? http://www.last.fm/sv/music/RuPaul/_/Main+Event+Main+(Matt+Pop+80%27s+Tribute+Extended)

Totally screwed up... And still no real response from Last.fm. I love you guys but I'm running out of patience.

This is why I hate Spotify as well. I use www.ibroadcast.com but now the new last.fm has taken over allot of the former scrobbler services are simply no longer working though my last.fm account is in sync with them.Still, at least I am able to still use Clementine Media Player but the other issue that I am having is my internet radio station streaming url once implemented in the player is no longer being scrobbled but prior to the new changes, this feature did work. Will this be fixed at all any time soon?

Ditto - ARCHIS still getting redirected to The Archies.

And thousands of badly tagged songs/artists.

I just wonder if, when they finish this catalogue polishing currently under work, these kind of scrobbles will be redirected to the proper artist (the one you actually played, not the wrong redirected one).

They should be. Last.fm does not change the data from the user library. If at the moment is incorrectly re-directing to another spelling (different artist), but the scrobbling artist name data is correct, the new catalogue (or by using the manual suggestion tool in development) will override the current re-direction.

"Last.fm does not change the data from the user library."

It did months ago, then it stopped working and the auto corrections just vanished like they never happened. Albums I had originally scrobbled under a certain name and had more than 1 group of it got grouped together in one, now a fair amount of albums under a variety of artists are now separated again.

I think I know what you mean James. You are referring to the way the scrobbles are displayed in the library, but the data (i.e. the artist name included on the audio file you actually played) it is never changed. Once the catalogue system is stable and corrections are working properly again, your library should "look" as it was before the current website launch.

There are several tagging problems for classical composers.

At the moment, I submit my scrobbles via Universal Scrobbler, and even though I am submitting scrobbles for artists such as Joseph Haydn or Tomaso Albinoni as "Joseph Haydn" and "Tomaso Albinoni," they each appear on my Recent Tracks list as (the incorrect) "Franz Joseph Haydn" and (the equally incorrect) "Tomaso Giovanni Albinoni." This is how they appear within my library as well. (The auto-correct box is not ticked.)

Once last.fm's team has fixed the artist and track catalogue problem, will my scrobbles be reverted back automatically, to the way they were originally submitted, or will I have to re-submit them?

Many thanks!

Hi Will,

Indeed, last.fm will never change the audio metadata submitted by the user. Your "scrobbles" will revert to what they were originally submitted.

Thank you for your patience.

Hi Pellitero,

I've asked this already but got no answer.

What happenes if a person has X amount of scrobbles like "Heaven and Hell", and then X amount of scrobbles like "Heaven & Hell". Would it be possible to merge it somehow?

The example comes from Black Sabbath album. the correct listing is ""Heaven and Hell" and when I started using Spotify I have not noticed that they have wrong album name as "Heaven & Hell" so it caused mess and I would really like to have the ability to merge wrongly tagged albums/track names from Spotify.

Is this being taken into account as well and can we expect to have a solution?

Well, thank you - it sheds some light but doesn't change the fact that it sucks :(
To kill my dreams of perfect stats - your answer also means that the submission for corrections of the album names (as with Bonamassa case) will not be possible due to metadata and artistic licences?

To keep your dream alive, if two releases by the same artist have the same tracklisting, they will be displayed under the same item, regardless of the spelling of the release name ;)

What about two releases from the same artist with the same name but different tracklisting? i.e. an album is named after a lead single but there's also the entry for the single - this happens a lot!

Will the new database be able to split album/singles with the same name like it is intended to be able to split identities for artists with the same name?

It should have two items for the album and the single as they have different tracklistings.

Any update with this? I'm sick of seeing things like 'Here Comes The Sun - Remastered 2009' all over the place because of Spotify. It makes the Last.FM charts completely inaccurate and thus pointless. Thanks

Tracks still get automatic incorrect tags and there's still nothing we can do to report and fix them. I am so frustrated!
