Could a technical representitive help me get some definitive answers on listening data? I perfectly understand the definition of a scrobble but what is a listener in the last fm database? When on an artist's page is a listener someone who scrobbles the song multiple times? Is the listener on a monthly period, weekly period or yearly period? Why do artists with lower overall listeners have higher weekly listeners and where can I find all those statistics?

Where do you see weekly listener count on an artist profile page?

This I find also to be a strange statement, since there is hardly any evidence for such a situation;
perhaps occasionally, yes, it may happen that some artist, with only 1000 listeners, haveĀ  a high number of listeners on the last 7 days (for instance if some new release of theirsĀ  are promoted by Spotify through those weekly playlists "Discover Weekly" and "Release Radar");
but I find hard to generalize this to the whole last.fm database of artists !
