i'd like to pay more for these super features

Here a list of other super Features i’d like to pay more for :

F1
no advert at all  (or at least, only advert for releases from  artists i have many likes/hearts or brands i choose like Sony/LalaLandRecord or Varese Sarabande or Polygram... So , not foods, not clothes, not banking adverts)

F2
As i’m a long user (10years), i wish my votes would be counted as double or triple  over the junior’s votes.

F3
I’d like to put a « don’t like » vote on songs i don’t want to re-listen  when i forget them. I  Know facebook does not want such feature too, it would be  really usefull to have it ! how many time i try to listen (sometime i pay for) a song i forget, and i forget i really don’t like it ! When you purchase tracks one by one, it is vey usefull to remember you don’t like some.

F4
i’d like to know which album or sort  them, by « hearts/likes » i gave on tracks. It is akward, but lastfm does not allow us to know which album we like the more, it only tells us which ones we listen to the more. Using and counting the « hearts/likes » would tell us the truth.

F5 F6
Same feature like previous-one, but by artists and by songs

F7
Each month, i’d like to see a hit parade of :
1. who is the user who upload the more cover
2. who is the top-voter for cover picture
3. who is the top-fixer who send opinions (correct/not correct) on albums/artists/ tracks names
4. Who is the top-talker (who writes the more the comments)
If that kind of hit parade who be filter by users’country , it would be super !
5.who is the top « hearts/likes » user, who is the user who gives a lot of hearts and how many myself i give each month.

F8
i’d like to sort and filter  my own historic by date older and by « heart/like » to know  WHAT is the song –or the album –or the artist   i didn’t listen since a very very long time and whose i gave a lot of hearts/likes in the past.
Don’t you that happy moment when you re-discover a super songs/artists you forget ? it’s like having a candy when you’re 90 years older after the first time you eat it.

F9
i’d like to have a graph to know if i listen more of alive singers or more dead ones.
Yes it is akward, but also funny too to know that.

F10
Of course, i’d like my super feature i explain there would be possible :
https://getsatisfaction.com/lastfm/topics/a-feature-to-display-the-song-i-did-not-listen-to-yet-to-c...

F11
Also, a i’d like a way to link the orginal songs to the covers one.
https://getsatisfaction.com/lastfm/topics/a-way-to-display-and-link-the-cover-song-version-between-t...

F12
i’d like to have a right to donwload the official cover art in high definition

F13
I’d like a way to group some albums together whereas they are not from the same artists.
https://getsatisfaction.com/lastfm/topics/a-way-to-group-several-album-compilation-together-like-col...

F14
and finally, maybe the one feature i need, i’d like to know in my town (or region, or country), who is the nearer person who uses Lastfm too. In my own town (Amiens, France, with  150K people), i am alone !

Seriously, for all this features i list,  i’d ready to pay 5€/month

F15
And for more 5€ (so  10€/month) i also would like to upload my own music librairy (mp3 & flac) online at your lastfm server to keep her safe there. Warning, do not be a fool like the google music manager, i really want my files being uploaded, not its references. Google Music manager does not upload my versions, it’s only take the references. So when i upcrease the volume, google does not care of my version (even not my album art i fixed or performs).

As the page https://www.last.fm/subscribe  does not give me a hint (screen snapshot by example),i still do not want to subscribe yet for 3€/month.

I know Xmas is passed, but i have the right to still  dreaming....
If LastFm does not care of these features, one day another challenger would create them on another music plateform....

You know, i’m a computer/analyst/developer, (unemployed actually), so i even would liek to code this feature myself for the community, even fixe/upgrade the windows scrobbler application !

I have time, i can work remotely online for free.

Ooh, lots of ideas! These vary from some pretty nice suggestions, to stuff I'm personally less fond of, to one of two things that are very unlikely to happen or wouldn't be viable to do.

Some thoughts about some of your suggestions:

  • F1: Ad-free site browsing is already included as a subscriber perk, so if you sign up, you've already got this!
  • F2: Hmm, votes only really exist for correcting the system, and a subscriber isn't necessarily more right than your average user. I'm not sure this would help the catalogue. In terms of junior votes, I'm not sure adding barriers to new user's enthusiasm is the way to go, and there's already a scrobble threshold for a lot of site activities.
  • F4-F6: This is a nice idea, more sort options in the library (A-Z and bringing back grid view are popular suggestions) would be cool to see.
  • F7: I guess this could encourage users to contribute, but it could also be open to abuse and lead to bad changes to the system. For example, to be the top cover art uploader, would users not possibly upload bad art?
  • F8: The labs used to have a feature like this before the redesign, listing artists you'd forgotten and not listened to in a while, and I was actually just thinking yesterday that it'd be nice to see it back. I think it could work as a way of enhancing the home page feed, for example, "You've played this artist 43 times, but you haven't listened since 2015."
  • F12: This one would be very hard, realistically too hard, for Last.fm to do. Cover art is under copyright just like the music, so there'd be a need to license it for download.
  • F13: Yes, being able to browse the titles in a series would be useful. It seems like MusicBrainz already offer information on this, and I know Discogs do, so that'd be a help.
  • F14: I'd really like to see more integration for locations, such as who else is in the area, who the top artists are locally, shoutboxes for regions (then groups, if that feature were to return at some point).
  • F15: I can't see this happening, because becoming a storage facility for music would really change the scope of Last.fm and be a step back toward offering streaming directly.

Basically agree with everything you've said, Katy.

Some of my thoughts:

F2 - Katy's right; just because a user has the dumb luck to have signed up to Last FM before another user doesn't mean they're any more likely to be correct about things. If an individual user's vote were to ever carry more weight, it should be an earned benefit and not one bestowed because a certain threshold of time has passed.

F7 - I get that this list is your personal wish list but this particular one strikes me as rather pointless and would only encourage spamming of meaningless interactions (comments, likes, etc) to achieve the goal of being #1. A reward for being the user who has uploaded the most artwork, for example, will potentially add to countless redundant images being uploaded, putting an unnecessary further strain on the Last FM servers. Personally, I would leave the image uploading to the users who want to do it without the motivation of a reward or perceived increased status.

F11 - of all your suggestions, I genuinely like this one and would +1 it. It'd be great if Last FM cross-linked an original song with its subsequent covers. If such a thing was possible, it would also be pretty neat when songs that heavily sample another artist's song were also linked - e.g. Eminem's popular song 'Stan' samples Dido's 'Thank You' - although I realise this could be a nightmare to programme. Sometimes these details are included in the track's wiki (as it is for 'Stan'), but I think a more visual feature, akin to the Similar Tracks / Similar Artists panes on a track's page, would be great.

F12 - the vast majority of artwork on Last FM is good quality, just how high quality do you want it??

F14 - this has been touched on in a recent thread. The only problem with this is that some people are really particular about their privacy, so if it was to be introduced it would need to be opt-in, which would negate its usefulness as a feature. Although, as Katy says, more geography-based stats would be a great addition, even if they were only (initially) done on a large scale, i.e. by country, so that people couldn't moan about privacy.

As the page https://www.last.fm/subscribe  does not give me a hint (screen snapshot by example),i still do not want to subscribe yet for 3€/month.
Don't understand this bit, a hint or screenshot for what, maybe how your profile looks as a subscriber? You could subscribe for only one month perhaps to test the additional features.

I only have a few related suggestions, e.g. Tastebuds.fm can search for users with similar taste per region, and you can add your Last.fm profile there besides your Facebook music favorites and others.

Uploading MP3 files is possible for free with Deezer which also scrobbles to Last.fm either with its internal option or with a browser extension (which also scrobbles your uploaded files) or with the Last.fm Android app.

Finding songs/artists you may have forgotten is indirectly possible by checking your scrobbled tracks/albums/artists in your library and going to the last pages with only one scrobble, also per year by clicking on the pink bars on the right side or by setting a custom time range.

Dismissing recommendations is still under consideration, so hopefully it will be possible again to only see artists, albums and songs recommended that you don't know yet.

It's probably a mistranslated idiom. I'm guessing English isn't George's first language. He's clearly just trying to emphasise his approval for the ideas in this thread.

Not so hard to unterstand imo: Because of the developement time every single step takes untilgbar now, the timeline for this suggestion will probably reach far into the future:
Here's the soundtrack to the theme by Moody Blues. ;-)

"heritage" is the french word, guy (for Legacy i think), but how did you guess i am French too ?

well, he means, that feature F11 (the cover feature link i suggest) would help our teen-younger people to really discover older song and the "false newer" song from actual artist.
By example, most teenagers know the song "Skinny Love" From Birdy because Birdy is a young artist in vogue. But the youngers ignore that this is a cover from the older Bon Iver song ;-)
As i'm french, i can't imagine how many people does not know my french artist "Claude Françaois" was the first singer of "My Way" who is not a english song ;-)

The F11 feature would be great whenever it would be possible to "subscribe" to a song and be emailed-alerted from a new cover of the song.
As a huge fan of Oasis Band, i'd like to know ALL the cover of Wonderwall song !

And (as i might say in the original thread of this feature i wish), i also would like to know what are the alternative version of a song (instrumental, piano version, accapella song, gregorian song version, baby version, string version, punk version...etc).
When i love a song, i love all versions uUnconditionally (even when ed sheeran makes one ;-)

I guess, "Heritage" (en) is comparable to romance languages: Herança (pt), Herencia (es), Héritage (fr), Eredità (it) = Erbe (de) = heritage. ;-) (this makes sense because the context ("grandchildren"))

well, heritage is something that our current generation will leave as legacy to the future generations...all these great ideas, along with other good ideas that have been posted in other threads, will take many years to be implemented...

Honestly, I feel like everything listed is pointless. Sorry.

What I would like to see is the following:

01. The ability to choose my own cover photo.
02. The ability to select which artist photo shows in 'Top Artists' on our own profile.
03. Blogs/About Me to return to our profiles.

Simple enough, right?

I'm a little disgruntled I can't edit my post, or remove it. I try and I get this long red band at the top of my page, but it doesn't say anything. -.- We all know I meant heart. >.>

You should have been able to edit that comment until somebody responded to it. As you've posted it obviously can't be now, but if it didn't work at your end due to a bug, glitch or some sort of incompatibility with your device, it's worth noting that Get Satisfaction are a third-party customer community platform used by Last.fm. Any problems with it would be best reported via them.

You weren't been able to edit, because I've liked your comment. (Sorry! ;-) This editing issue is part of GetSat's weakness.
But you can relax! Because of the internationality of this community, the most users already have learned to overread such mistakes and everybody knows, you were meaning "heart". (999 :-)

Haha, no need to apologize. I'd rather have someone like my post than to have someone point out a spelling mistake. :P I agree that it is a weakness, you should be able to edit a post regardless if someone likes it (or even repies).

I guess my brain says "proof read your post" and my eyeballs say "too tired, try again later", haha. Thanks for the reply (and likes) - conversations like this really makes me miss the actual LFM forums. :( <3

i'd like to add 2 more features :

F16
A way to link a song to movie, the scene where it's linked, something like a youtube video or at least, just a text content who descrives the moment.
As i listen to "Meet Me Halfway" from Kenny Loggins, i alwasys think about the Stallone movie with the child...
ps : i know There is already another website which performs the reverse feature (movie gives the musics), but i always need the F16 because when i listen a song, i like remembering where i discovered it the first time.

F17
There should be a "badge" feature for every user, like a notoriety icon/property. IMDB (and modern forum like phpBB engine) have that kind of specs.
It would be good for "senior" user to have the hand on "junior" user. Upper i spoke about a feature to have more "power" on fixing thing, voting things.
As a senior, i could "confirm" (or cancel) the vote of newbies....
More than a "badge", each time a user performs a type of feature for the first, it could win a grade.
I don't know all the features of Lastfm (and i would), but there is NO simple page that list them all.
I'd like a list of the feature, and near of there a checkbox to know whenever i already perform/visite the feature/action. It would be like a "roadmap", to each visitor/new user to gain grades.

F18
A subscribe feature to the real official artist mailing list.
Yesterday, i bought a CD on cdbaby. in the end of the order's process, the website asked me if i want to be add the official mailing of the artist whose i purchase the CD. it is a very good idea that Lastfm should do too.

I don't envisage anything like F17 would ever happen. It seems a bit like it'd be something to use as a power trip over new users, and their views on corrections and votes are just as valid as those of a long-standing user. Allowing users to simply cancel the votes or actions of others would also be far too open to abuse.

KatyLB, i understand you don't like this F18 because, senior user could eat your job as moderator.
When i'm a junior on a website, i like the idea of been "guided" by a senior user.
As i said, this kind of feature is also a way no make moderator less userfull ;-)
At least, a moderator could "give point" to users who gives good advices or good votes.
an exemple :
when you (you, the moderator) discover than 1000 people votes for the good name fixing of a song/artist/album. You should "reward" them (your choice to find a kind of reward, i proposed one).
Also, when a user do a bad thing like upload a false cover, you should alert him ...

Hmm, I guess there is an interesting idea wrapped up in there somewhere, the concept that votes from users with a track record of making good corrections could maybe be weighted higher than those of users with a track record of making bad ones. A user's standing under such an algorithm is surely best kept hidden, though, lest it be used as a stick to beat others with? Also, that isn't so much about the age of your account as it is about good judgement and contributing positively to the community. :)

I would imagine that would be almost impossible to implement, though - that wasn't done through manual review, at least.

I agree that the site could really do with a team of user-level moderator types who could handle more mundane issues like capitalisation errors, incorrect artwork uploads. I, for one, would happily help out with this kind of work as to me it's just an extension of contributions I already make to the site: image uploads, wiki addition and improvements, voting, etc. This would allow the development team to carry on with more important issues.

in an album page, i'd like to see in front of track name, the number of comments. (to know how the discussion is deep..., curiosity...).
Also, it would be good if the windows scrobbler could display the last comment or a way to write/reply a comment there

A feature that would allow the users to tell/vote  whenever an album is :
- a real album
- an EP
- a single (and even tell a basic single, a cdm, a cds,..)
- a compilation (and even a basic group of songs or a original soundtrack)

with that kind of information, that will "increase" the automatic fix of removing the "album version" in title song !because we will know when it is an album or not
This exemple is an album, so every "(album version)" string  should be removed because i'm boring to vote "this is the wrong title" with invisible score of the balance !

i add a F21 feature i'd like to pay for too :

i wish i can group the stats/scrob by band+main singers.
by example:

my top one is OASIS band, but i do listen to the singer Liam gallagher and his brother Noel gallagher..
Same thing for No Doubt and Gwen Stepfani. You can't dislike No Doubt and love Gwen, they the same Artist.
Dolores i'riordan and the cranberries...

So a feature for grouping that kind of artists would be super.
