Sorry, I've just downloaded the Last.fm desktop scrobbler and it looks that it's not possible to scrobble from Winamp. On settings I can enable only WMP and iTunes plugins!!! Is it possible to scrobble also from Winamp, or I have to use the Legacy scrobbler (that right now crashes every time I try to install it)?! Thanx in advance for the answer.

I'm afraid the new client doesn't support Winamp, and we don't have any plans to add official support it this time.

The legacy client shouldn't be crashing on install -- which version of Windows are you using?

If it doesn't, you might have to consider an alternative media player such as Foobar2000MusicBee, or Clementine

Why couldn't you just inform that Winamp 5 scrobbling has been disabled permanently? If the legacy plugin doesn't work, it doesn't work, whether it installs or not is not even relevant!

It was mentioned in a long thread about fixing iTunes 12.7 problems with the legacy scrobbler when the new desktop scrobbler 3.1.24 was released with iTunes and WMP support that Winamp and foobar2000 are no longer supported in the new version. It no longer uses the old plugins for iTunes and WMP anyhow, as far as I know. The legacy scrobbler 2.1.37 still works with Winamp, see my postings below.

I'm using Windows 7. I disinstalled the Legacy client because it was not working, and now when I try to reinstall it it crashes after the installation, when the client open asks to connect with the Last fm user...it is weird... There is no other way to scrobble with Winamp beside the Legacy client?

EDIT also if I use any of the players you suggested, I still have this issue because none of thr players scrobble with the Desktop Scrobbler.

I have older version of Desktop Scrobbler, so if you fail with searching it on Internet, I can send you link to installer. It works with Winamp nicely, although I don't know if it needs additional plugin or something. It can be also this plugin case that you can't scrobble anything.

But if you decide to choose my link and something will be broken, you can mail me @Toma400 (on Last.fm) so we can fix issues somehow.

This might be caused by the same problem with Windows XP and the legacy scrobbler not being able to use SNI and TLS 1.2 for the changed Last.fm image servers, see this staff reply.

If this is the case, the good news for Windows 7 users is that you can enable support for TLS 1.2 in your OS which is not enabled by default. See this MS developer blog with explanations and screenshots:

I installed Winamp version 5.8 Build 3660 from Oct 19th, 2018 on Windows 10 which is the last "official" release by the new owner Radionomy from their home page and installed the old plugin of the legacy desktop scrobbler 2.1.37 which works fine with it and can be installed from the scrobbler.

Some related links:

https://getwacup.com/

The last one is a "WinAmp Community Update Project (WACUP)" with a new beta release from yesterday, but installation somehow failed on my computer, maybe because I hadn't installed any Winamp version before.

By the way, on the official home page you can give feedback for one future feature of version 6, e.g. internal scrobbling via API independent from the device and app, as Radionomy plans a version in 2019 for mobile apps and lots of additional features.

Last but not least remember that the old plugin needs to be installed in the default plugin directory and path of the standard Winamp version, see also this thread.

Meanwhile there is a new beta version of WACUP which installs and runs without problems on my Windows 10 version 1903, but installing the old plugin from the legacy desktop scrobbler in its plugin subfolder does not work. Maybe it is just because of the folder name for the program which is "\WACUP\Plugins", not "\Winamp\Plugins", as it installs in another directory than Winamp, so the desktop scrobbler might not recognise it. By the way, the plugin itself gets renamed during installation by the desktop scrobbler from "gen_wa2_scrobbler.dll" to "ml_wa2_scrobbler.dll", so it gets listed under Media Library plugins in Winamp and WACUP, not under General Purpose plugins.

The developer of WACUP is Darren Owen aka DrO, a former Nullsoft employee and Winamp forum member whom you can contact on his home page.

Yep, it's as easy as that: just rename the WACUP installation folder to Winamp, and it will scrobble with ml_wa2_scrobbler.dll in its Plugin subfolder:

Note that the WACUP developer DrO does not want to install his version in the default Winamp folder yet (or ever), but if you want to use the legacy Last.fm desktop scrobbler with it, there is no other way. By the way, there is already another preview version available for download:

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Legacy scrobbler not scrobbling for WMP or Winamp.

About 8 hours ago, my legacy scrobbler stopped scrobbling for Winamp and Windows Media Player. It says the scrobbles are cached, but they do not appear on my list of scrobbled tracks. Is this a shutdown of the legacy scrobbler or is this just a glitch? I use Winamp and WMP for tracks I listen to on my iPhone because they do not appear as scrobbled in the mobile app.

I can't scrobble from Winamp in Windows 10 anymore. The client shows the track playing, as if it is scrobbling, but it doesn't appear on my profile. It doesn't show any error and it's happening for several weeks now.

I unistalled, reinstalled, tried on a different user on the same PC. Nothing worked.

I tried scrobbling from WMP too, same problem.

I had the same issue around a month ago. I had a complete driver change in my laptop (Windows 10 x64) so I had to reinstall every software, including Winamp and last.fm scrobbler. Now I have Winamp 5.8 build "3660". I remember I had some problems with the last.fm scrobbler back then, and while I was experimenting with two different softwares offered by this site, I just created even bigger mess with no results. After several uninstallings and reinstallings, somehow I could make it work again. The .exe file that eventually worked was Last.fm-2.1.37, I have no issues with Winamp and scrobbling since (not talking about the occasional scrobbling issues that aren't related to Winamp itself).
