iTunes 12.5.4.42 not recognized by scrobbler

With the newest version of iTunes (64-bit, 12.5.4.42) my scrobbler cannot find iTunes and it gives the error message ""itw_scrobbler.dll" could not load in 64-bit mode", making it unable to scrobble iPod plays. I'm running on a Windows 8 computer and I've tried several times to install the scrobbler and iTunes in the Program Files and Program Filesx86 folders, but to no avail. Is there anything I can do apart from this?

At https://getsatisfaction.com/lastfm/topics/scrobbler-stopt-scrobbling-with-itunes-12-5-4-on-mac it says "Looks to be solved. After restarting MacBook, I got an update. After updating it works again."

But you are running MS Windows so it may be different.

I've actually had this problem since  iTunes1.12 was released, so restarting won't help.

I had the same problem, apparently the current version of scrobbler isn't compatible with the newest version of iTunes. Installing the previous version of iTunes solved the problem for me.

I've tried this too but my iPod isn't compatible with a version lower than 1.12, so for me it's not really an option. You also need to reload all your songs if you downgrade, which is very frustrating.
