iTunes keeps reopening when I try to close it. this stops when I uninstall the scribbler.

This is a known issue with the newer windows desktop client (3.x) -- since the client is polling itunes for play state changes, it's possible that the desktop client polls itunes as it's shutting down, which causes itunes to relaunch.  That's a behaviour we can't override, and as far as I know, the only option is to poll less frequently, which can result in dropped scrobbles.

Right, and the workaround here is to exit the desktop scrobbler app first before closing iTunes.  Alternatively, if you don't want to close the scrobbler, then you can either uncheck the itunes option under plugins, or uncheck "Enable scrobbling" from the system tray icon. Then re-enable once iTunes has closed.
