For quite a long time now Last.fm is not launching automatically with iTunes. I have to manually launch it, although "Launch application with media players" is checked.

Yeah, I've got the same longstanding problem on my MacBook Air. I don't reboot it very often so when I do and then open iTunes, I invariably forget to manually open the scrobbler; really quite annoying.
Would be great to see an update rolled out for the Mac scrobbler - although I do prefer the Mac scrobbler to the Windows one, which I think is probably too streamlined, now. It would be nice to have extra info available again.

You can add the Last.fm Scrobbler to your Login Items
https://support.apple.com/kb/ph25590
Then it opens every time you restart your Macbook Air.

I normally close the Last.fm Scrobbler when I am not using iTunes.
