I know fall has arrived and winter is just around our doors, but is it really necessary to be asleep? Why is it so difficult to keep us updated on your progess? There are no answers on the forum, Twitter, or Facebook. You block people who are upset from your Twitter and Facebook accounts and don't even try to give users a professional answer. It only takes one man to write up a few sentences on what's been occuring... say, every week. You leave us literally with a broken system, perhaps 30% of what was originally intended as Last.fm is currently working and for the rest it's still unclear whether we even get it back.

"Soon," is no answer anymore. It's not even close to an indication. "Soon", is what you tell a group of people you are no longer concerned with. "Soon", is what you tell a group of people you are no longer interested in as having your customers or users. I wonder if you even know what you are doing, or what you have done so far.

When will we receive some real answers? Will the site even continue to exist past the end of this year? Because currently it's looking as if you're all letting it decay.

Last.FM staff...
...there really, really is a unifying theme with a lot of topics that get started around here.

Hint: it has something to do with communication, and your involvement in said communication.

I think the software interpreted the double post as my replying to my own post, which I did not do. Upon seeing the double post, I tried to remove the second, when the option was available, but that didn't work: the posts would not budge. This even occurred when I tried to delete the third - once again, when the option was available. The forum seems to have a problem with this.
Once a post's been liked or replied to, it's automatically locked for editing.
Well, that's a bloody stupid idea. I've never come across a forum or social media website that does this, apart from this one. I know that most forums don't let you remove your own posts whenever you feel like it, but surely they could let us edit them - like most forums allow - even if it's within a time-limit?

Happens to me too sometimes. The double posts I mean. Definitely a bug.
I remember when clicking on avatars to see peoples profiles broke a while ago. Took them 3 weeks to fix. I never did get round to checking to see if GetSatisfaction was owned by CBS ;-)

I'll be surprised if they will not close this site in max 2 years. Until this point they already lost quite a lot of money. This terrible redesign will not help them at all. They should listen to their userbase. A site without users is pointless.

It's simple: they don't care about us.

Why is it so difficult to keep us updated on your progess?

The development team works in two-weekly "sprint cycles". It's not that it's difficult to make an update every hour/day/week. It just makes more sense to do it after the end of a work cycle. In the announcements for the two last updates they have also said what we can expect from the next update, i.e. what they will be working on in the next sprint. Instead of a progress report every week as you request, you will get a progress report every fortnight.

You leave us literally with a broken system, perhaps 30% of what was originally intended as Last.fm is currently working and for the rest it's still unclear whether we even get it back.

It's not broken in a literal sense, but much is missing. From the official responses I've read I feel reassured that all I care about will return. What features specifically are you afraid will not return?

"Soon," is no answer anymore.

They have a small development team and cannot work on that many features simultaneously. Publicizing a detailed road map far into the future is difficult - and perhaps counter-productive - when there is a lot of uncertainty around how long it will take to build each feature. They have been honest and said for instance that some features may take over half a year to finish.

When will we receive some real answers?

At the end of each sprint, which typically lasts around two weeks.

Will the site even continue to exist past the end of this year?

Inshallah!

"It just makes more sense to do it after the end of a work cycle."
For me what makes more sense is that devs should not launch a website with basic functions missing for months.

"It's not broken in a literal sense"
I'm sorry, but it IS broken. And because staff members just don't give any answers to bug reports, it doesn't mean the site isn't broken, I'm afraid.

Girl on here has a YT Channel, she sent your Vid. (I think it's you), it was really getting into "it" needs some time editing though, think of people attention spans (like here as an example), but I send that here, keep it on the professional side - not bad

Looks like they are tucking this away

While they may be communicating on here, they do it sporadically and cherry-pick their responses. For every time the team directly reply to a thread problem there are at least as many times again where they disregard the main query but answer a superfluous secondary point in a reply comment. A lot of the time, trying to get a straight answer from them feels like talking to a politician: vague platitudes are the staple response. "Soon", "it's under consideration", etc

I can appreciate that the exact timeline is flexible and difficult to state with accuracy, but surely they have a plan of action? They didn't just wake up one morning and think "hey, let's delete this much-loved version of the site and replace it with a very VERY basic version - no one will mind!"....right?!

I think it's always worth reiterating that the site was in beta mode for SEVERAL MONTHS (where they allegedly took our feedback) before going fully live with the site in August, and surely they discussed the planned revamp for at least a few months before that as well...

Instead of assigning someone to sift through and delete unfavourable responses on here and other places like Facebook, why not give that person a positive role of reporting in a concise and regular format about the team's progress and intentions?

To be fair to the developers, that's absolutely what this launch feels like - senior management unthinkingly throwing their weight around and pushing the site live without any consideration to the existing userbase.

Not correct; I would blame management at Last FM for simply being lazy. After all, they were told well over a year ago to get their act together.

**There was a statement from CBSI Sept 2012 that changes would be made if this service didn't get its act together, their media/public relation site in NY at present just mentions the service now as "online music."

I feel bad for little people that lost their jobs, best thing to do if they want to weather this out is open old site back up, this is a "Beta" right, says it on welcome page.

Even gives the strong impression "open soon" go to login page - read & enjoy the flashy design, that actually looks okay.

Do it right, then we can bitch about the paint job, this is funny really (it's so stupid).

You know, it's difficult to get our point across when there are people kissing the staff's asses. You can't honestly tell us that you support a broken system and a non-functional 'support'-team.

My avatar is an asshole, so it figures that I have such inclinations =)

I just don't share your outrage and tried to explain why in the post above.

Harold: Questions ?

I am seeing no update post, just one person was active in last 12 hrs, 2 last 15 hours, then another one in last 4 days, about  dozen over 4 days ago, another dozen, many of who have been inactive for over a month, 5 or 6 no activity at all, maybe they just got hired?

I am unclear on the comment above me “people wanting things right away, so on _____ & thinking no is doing anything?”

With that ambiguity, just two in about 20+ complaints of simple tasks as examples; 3 months now and it is like album art is a rocket science? "Events are fixed" BUZZ! no they are not when users pages are blank or locations are way off (history? Well is a blank on blank) but can that be so hard?

Therefore, you are you being sarcastic or maybe staff erased the next weeks update (opps) or you posted wrong site?

* I am missing so many plays, some real news would be welcome.
