Replacing the old version with this unfinished Beta version was a terrible mistake. What the hell you were thinking?

Many users told you on those Feedback forums what was wrong with this Beta version. Some of them (including me) even offered you mockups of improved design:

What you did instead? Commercial suicide. You knew that the Beta version is terrible and yet, you went ahead with it like a stubborn donkey. I think you're aware of the overwhelmingly negative feedback. Mark my words: you'll have the fate of Myspace. A wasteland. Good luck, you will need it.

I will scrobble for few weeks until there will be exactly 7 years since I'm opened my account and then stop.

PS: For the remaining users, I did this userstyle: https://userstyles.org/styles/114442/last-fm-improved It's not perfect, but give it a try anyway.

Ya...I think it's a lot worse than anything we've ever seen. Even Myspace...

Now Last.fm is almost useless, but it still has a bit of functionality (plus they will re-add some features later). Myspace on the other hand removed everything that made them Myspace (including all blogs) and becoming totally useless.

Myspace was bad from the start. It was just as badly coded as last.fm has been. But so far i haven't been hopeful of the changes of last.fm

Myspace was always terrible. I still remember those awfully customized user pages. But that was part of its appeal.

Thanks for trying, but the text, pics and huge amount of space are so badly co-ordinated,it's unfixable.

It should be rebuilt from scratch. But if that isn't possible, at leasy they should make it as similar to the old one as possible. They should keep the best elements, improve them and add new useful features, not simplify everything until there's nothing left. Right now Last.fm is almost useless (especially that dreadful new library).

nice mockups! too bad they will likely stay that way. last.fm doesn't have to balls to own up to their mistake so they're going to stick with the shit website that no one wants to go on. Best we can hope for is a real competitor to emerge like reddit did with digg, facebook did with myspace, ect.. and send this shithole into obscurity

Last.fm basically doesn't have competition on scrobbling (Libre.fm is too weak). Somebody should make the new Audioscrobbler (a service totally dedicated to music stats/charts).

There's rumors there might be a rivaling website. I haven't seen any proof or confirmation of this but i guarantee you that with this new site launch that there will be one soon!!!

Thank you for your userstyles Alin! Used in conjunction with the Greasemonkey script which reverses title - artist order, it's all a bit more tolerable. I am currently using your "No circular thumbnails" style because the "Last.fm Improved" one makes a mess of my header. It's probably because I'm using an older version of Firefox?

That Greasemonkey script doesn't work properly, though. I removed the link to it. "Last.fm Improved" may not work properly too since Last.fm changed few things in meantime. I will wait until they will settle on a stable design then I will try to improve it.

I'm not even bothering to scrobble. If they can't take suggestions such as yours what's the point in using this site? Last.fm users has been fed up for some time and iv'e been hearing rumors about another website that is going to do what last.fm should have been, though i haven't seen anything about it yet.

Last.fm has gotten worse over the years and seeing how the Beta website was launched prematurely shows that this site or CBS has given up on last.fm and wants to bury it. They know how many complained about many things done to the site over the years but this one is the final nail in the coffin. I would say that last.fm has become the new Microsoft, making changes and going through with them without listening to feedback. Myspace if i remember correctly never bothered to listen to feedback. Now Windows 8 is dead and Windows 10 is a joke (constant issues) and myspace is dead. Do people not learn from their or others mistakes? Apparently not.

R.I.P. Last.FM

Last.fm staff is really stubborn. They prefer to see all their users leaving the site than to do what users request. It happened before at every redesign. All that feedback from their forum + through that widget = totally pointless.

I'm surprised by the fact that there isn't a strong alternative yet. In those years no one thought about making a Last.fm 2 (much better and more dedicated to music stats)?

"Last.fm has gotten worse over the years and seeing how the Beta website was launched prematurely shows that this site or CBS has given up on last.fm and wants to bury it".

Then why they don't just close it? What's the point of redesigning and removing tons of features just to annoy the users?

I just signed up so i can see the beta of Hatchet, i hope that will outdo last.fm because last.fm isn't offering much. My biggest complaint is they messed up the 'about me', 200 characters is a joke! I want my bandlogos and custom chart views back. The new site doesn't do it for me.

I think CBS/Last.fm thought if they redesigned the site more people would sign up and maybe subscribe but again it's poorly done. They really needed to hold out until it is finished and people are satisfied. But they are just like Microsoft and go head first into it without listening to feedback.

There is no point in redesigning/removing tons of features, because it will make users mad. If they fix the about me and restore it to it's former glory then i can deal with some of the other ridiculous changes but when they removed that functionality i just don't want to deal with this site anymore, they claim they want feedback but what is the point in having feedback if they are not going to listen?

You have some great ideas of what the new site should look like and it's pretty much the same format they are dong except removing all that nonsense blank space. They could have put the ads there or something instead of restricting 'about me' to 200 characters and being text only.

Pretty cool! I was just mentioning stylish on another thread... twas hoping someone who is good at this sorta thing (certainly not me) would make a stylish that we could change the background color from white to a personally preferred color.

I like my "artist" header - I found that attractive  on the new Last.FM (my personal taste).

Well, let's not be too quick to completely write off Last.fm.
They were clearly misguided in making an unfinished beta live, but I'm confident that things will stabilize and get better. By the end of the week, I'm hoping for that to be the case.

Last.fm has been my most favorite site since I've signed up in 2007.
I won't just let it go so quickly. My charts aren't just that, they're memories of my life since then.

Last.fm, get it together, please!

No one is saying that they are. But i won't be sticking around if they are not going to listen to feedback and restore the about me. They really just didn't do a very good job rolling the new site out and it should still be in beta, not replacing the original site yet. Once they have all the functionality in place they can switch but this new site is still incomplete. They didn't mention anything of this being released nor did they tell anyone to back up their information in about me or stats so users can get what they need. They just threw this new format on everyone instead of taking their time with it. The rushed site is going to make it worse for last.fm in the long run.

they probably took your layout as "little innovative" or anything of the sort. Too bad, I liked it. But it really is a lot like the old one and it would not justify a change. Now, what actually justifies a change I might prefer not to know. However, what really is bothering me in this new version is the endless amount of advertisements.

The cosmetic changes are mostly done through CSS. They're usually easily configurable. They could make an entirely new layout in maximum a week if they want. But the whole simplification (loss of features) is not acceptable.

It's not that bad, they obviously tried to make it friendly and responsive for small screens like tablets and phones. Now it's just modern. Hopefully some of the old features will make their way back. I just want more options for displaying recent artists, albums, tracks. Let us choose different charts and manipulate the data in a more attractive way.

Some people sure are melodramatic though lol. The reactions on here are funny.

It's the lack of options for personal charts. I lost the ability to use bandlogos and i can't restore or copy my old info because it's no where to be found!

The new site is unfinished and they didn't do a good job with the transition. Meanwhile i'm stuck without a proper last.fm profile! It's totally inferior, plenty of features/functionality is gone.

The new library is the most shittiest thing on the site tbh... And of course 200-limited about me. I wish they would return the old library.

@Alin - I don't know how into programming and stuff you are but your design talents would likely serve very well over at <code><a title="Link: http://listenbrainz.org/" href="http://listenbrainz.org/">http://listenbrainz.org/</a> :)

I have a hard time believing last.fm will ever return to its former glory or anywhere close for that matter. D:

I think it will help only if on all sites we scream about this awful change so maybe they'll start to listen some real complaints if they are orried about publicity and future of the site a little.. T_T

From what I can understand by reading between the lines they had no option. The old servers were going down due to end of life so they had to be replaced. The alternative would have been to shut down Last.fm entirely.

we are not stupid, we undertand that new years new age requires new changes ofcourse. but we are talking about THE WHOLE UNUSEFUL NEW thing they launched which changes most of features hich made last.fm different and one of the best music sites that we used and paid for it. they removed most of important features some of them they put back but changed and limited with its options and usefulness. Facebook and livejournal and tumblr change but they DON'T CHNAGE THEIR PRIMARY USE AND LOOK over something tottally different. and also while making new server they got so many suggestions, reviews of what needs to be changed in this new one and they did NOTHING they totally put all that as shit aside and continue with pointless 'updates' connecting to usual problems which were even in old version.
also many members who are in programming field uggested better correction of interface and more useful beta version with features and look which meets expectations of this site's purpose and previous look and features. and they didn't even give a damn at those mock ups.
this isn't about saving last.fm shuting it don due to old servers, it's just a mask. they sold this site to mainstream and unuseful innovation for those who aren't here for music mainly. it just looks like they wanted to get rid of one number of users and mostly older ones.
or that just all old good competent people managing this site got fired or fled away due to pressure of money, or younger and incompetent 'innovation' maniacs who just want to make something more fancy which can bring more money and less useful.
