Normally weeks start on Monday or Sunday (although I think some Arabic countries use Saturday as the start of the week). I've never heard of anyone starting their week on a Friday - I generally prefer to start my weekend on that day.

OK, I guess that makes some kind of sense. Apparently I scrobbled the most music on a Thursday last year and listened to 63% new tracks - I'm not sure whether that makes me ahead of the ball or just 6 days behind the times!

music industry set friday to be the New Global Release Day...

The organization hopes that the move would benefit the industry as a whole, since it would reduce piracy (since albums often come out before the United States internationally), allow artists to focus their social-media campaigns and, using the words of the IFPI's statement, "re-ignite excitement and a sense of occasion around the release of new music."
my scrobbling-week starts with monday and ends up mostly with friday...

Oh wow that's just awesome...

I know why it happened, but it's totally stupid imo. Since many songs are available before LP release and many people listen music not exactly when it is released (I usually have 3 days to 2 months to scrobble something just released; also even my pre-ordered album from Project Pitchfork was delivered two days after official release date) it's quite useless in my view.
