Is there anyway to make the live profile ticker for a single country, (USA in my case). I'm doing an observational statistical survey of a total of 60 profiles, every eighth profile. I am using how often they listen to their all time favorite artists as a quantitative value and the number of artists they have listened to on your site as well. I am using whether their all time listened to artist's lead vocalists is male or female as the qualitative value. Is there anyway to organize this is such a way? Thanks

Did you ask those people for permission to do such survey? I know profiles are public, but still...

You have the option to hide that information in settings---->privacy if you cared that much. Profiles aren't shared with the professor and I could care less personally if someone's most listened to artist is a Noise band or a K-pop group. I doubt they care themselves if someone knows since they are scrobbling their music to the internet for the world to see. I personally use it as a music journal myself and do not mind others looking at my profile. I browse many music forum sites and I've never seen anyone say they were nervous or whatever to share their last.fm profile or tastes in general. Share your last.fm profile is commonly a topic among such communities. Where's the potential harm? The neat thing with this is I'm enjoying it myself, seeing how diverse people's tastes are. I've very rarely came across people with the same most-listened to artists; actually only two so far. This is ironically a problem with my original idea for this survey. I love music and I'm a fairly passive person so this works for me. If I did such a survey in public, who is your favorite artists or what is your favorite genre; the majority of the time I would get they don't have a favorite artists or genre, at least where I live,  "I listen to everything but country". This is obviously not the case, They may listen to one artist 5x more than others without realizing it. I've also realized time of day has an effect on what people listen to because different time zones obviously. I should chosen a particular time to do the survey over a period of time, say 12 EST when a good chunk of the US population is on lunch break.

Also ohgod, feel free to look at my profile as it is public. It is a bit skewed because I shared it with my niece for a short time due to her lack of internet or phone but other than her obsession with Amy Winehouse and a few others, it's fairly accurate I think. I won't attempt to look at your profile assuming your username would be "ohgod" out of respect even if it scrolled by but I still think your concern is in the minority. My user profile is reflective of my name on this board.

Okay, I see your point, I guess there isn't any real harm, it's just a privacy matter. Also, no, ohgod is not my Last.fm username, but you still wouldn't get any use from that person, since it seems like they only have one track played... Goodbye and good luck with your task.
