Logged out of EVERYTHING

Every single app/program I use to scrobble is constantly logging me out. The desktop scrobbler, the iOS Marvis music app, the iOS Loud app and the iOS Eavescrob app will scrobble nothing and keep asking me to log in to my account again and again.

Me too, but I use simple lastfm scrobbler. I didn't realize I was logged out from it and it didn't cache any of my plays. And when I try to scrobble manually from open scrobbler it says there's some unexpected error. Lastfm plug-in on my AIMP player also logged me out. Something's up.

Are you still connected to those apps in your settings? https://www.last.fm/settings/applications  If not, you will need to re-connect your account for each one.

At 1 am this morning we had to roll a configuration setting back at which would have logged you out of everything again -- very sorry about this. You'll need to re-connect your apps once again, but it should be fixed now.

Thanks for letting us know, I'm raising this with the team to investigate.

Am I right in understanding that this keeps happening - even after you log back in?

---

edit: It looks like some people have been logged out of all of their connected applications / scrobblers.  You can check which applications are still connected here: https://www.last.fm/settings/applications

If the application you use has stopped working, simply reconnecting your account / re-authing should fix it. Note that with some apps (e.g. the web scrobbler), the app might say that you're still connected to last.fm, even when it's not, in this case you need to disconnect your account first in the app's settings before you can reconnect & reauth.

Thanks Jon. Yes, after I've logged back in I'll get maybe 3 or 4 songs scrobbled then it'll stop and I'll have to log in again.

They are not shown there until after I reconnect them. They haven't disconnected themselves again for the past half hour so the issue might have sorted itself now.

Thanks Ryan, are these apps you connect to via the website, or with your username and password (the latter definitely won't show on that page as they use the old scrobbling protocol).  Please let me know if you get disconnected again.

I'm having the same issue. Between scrobbling last night and turning on my laptop this afternoon, I've been signed out of the scrobbling app and given a pop up message to "re-authenticate my account"

I woke up this morning to my scrobbler having logged me out, and forcing me to update plug-ins to continue.  The new plug-ins don't work, it's not scrobbling at all now.  Even after updating to the new Itunes, the old Legacy scrobbler continued to work until the new plug-ins were put in this morning.  My version is now 2.1.37 (built on QT4.8.3).  Is this an active scrobbler for Itunes 12.9.2.6 ?

New plugins? I don't know what that is.

If you're on windows, and using itunes 12, you need to use version 3 of our scrobbling app which you can get here: https://www.last.fm/about/trackmymusic

Thanks Jon.  Yes, more problems this morning.  It keeps bring me back to this window, and asking me to log in.  I do it, then it circles right back and asks me to do it again.  This morning when I turned the computer on, I had a pop up saying that there was a new version of last.fm scrobbler available, and it won't let me proceed till I installed it.

Hi Shawn, can you please clarify if you're using the windows or mac version of the last.fm scrobbler.

There definitely isn't a new version available, so I don't know what's gone wrong there (trying to find out though).  For now, I think the best option is a clean reinstall of the app from: https://www.last.fm/about/trackmymusic

I think you're right Jon.  When I finally updated my Itunes a few months ago, I was shocked the old legacy scrobbler kept working so I didn't touch anything.  But I think it's time to install the new one.  I will let you know how it goes.  I will update My itunes first.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled last.fm account authentication error.

Tracks do not seem to be scrobbling in real time, and I am continuously being kicked off the last.fm itunes scrobbler on macOS and being asked to re-authenticate, and upon doing so i'm kicked off again

NepTunes does not seem to be scrobbling in real time either

account name is ixafm

Hi, there was a problem earlier which caused all connected apps to disconnect.  You can check which applications are connected here: https://www.last.fm/settings/applications

If the application you use has stopped working, simply reconnecting your account / re-authing should fix it. Note that in some apps you have to disconnect your last.fm account in the app first, before you can reconnect it.

Yesterday Scrobbler suddenly quit on me, gave me the re-authentication message.  I did that 10 or 12 times.  Tried switching to Clementine.  That worked for an hour or so.  Today, nothing responsive, so downloaded a new Scrobbler.  Which just ignored Clementine activity, totally.  Went back to WMP and Scrobbler worked for over an hour but then started lying to me and wasn't, in fact, really logging anything. That's now, Tuesday the 2nd.  Username: MissNewOrleans, on laptop with Windows 10..  Don't know what to try.

Similar problem here. I use fooscrobble and it isn't scrobbling. I checked connected applications and there is only spotify connected to my account. Reconnection and reauthentication of fooscrobble didn't help.

Edit: There's a better way of doing this that doesn't reset foobar completely (thanks to marc for pointing this out):

First, open the Last.fm scrobbler settings (under tools, Last.fm Settings), and click Reset Page (not Reset All).  Now clear authentication, and then re-request it and connect your Last.fm account.

If this still doesn't work, close Foobar2000, open file explorer and navigate to C:\Users\<your windows username>\AppData\Roaming\foobar2000\configuration (if you're using the portable version of Foobar2000, this folder will be located directly inside the program's folder).  There should be a file called foo_scrobble.dll.cfg - delete this, and then restart Foobar2000.  Now open Preferences, Tools, Last.fm Settings and re-authorise your account.

If that still doesn't work (and it really should), resetting Foobar2000 to it's default state (described below) should work as an absolute last resort.

-----

Ok, this worked for me, but might be annoying if you have a lot of components & customisation.  I recommend making a back up of your foobar settings and config first, and keeping a note of any components you're using besides last.fm.

When you're ready, open preferences, and at the bottom you'll see the button "Reset All". Click this, and it'll warn you that this will reset foobar to it's factory state and wipe all of your settings (including installed components).  Choose yes and restart foobar.  Now reinstall the foo_scrobble component, hit apply, and restart.  When foobar has restarted, open the preferences again, and under tools, Last.fm Settings, request to authorise your account; once you've done that don't forget to click 'Complete authorisation' after connecting your account on the website. Foo_scrobble should now appear in your settings ( https://www.last.fm/settings/applications ) and scrobbling hopefully should be working again.

Hope this helps.

looks like the app is back up again.  My errored scrobble from this morning has scanned now :)  Just waiting on the new Itunes to install and upload the new scrobbler.

Side question about the app:  Do you ever notice that sometimes it scans for more scrobbles than it should?  I'll listen to an album with 12 songs, hit scan. and 147 scrobbles show up.  BUT, once I listen to the album/playlist again it's good.  As long as I stay with that playlist it's good.  Then, when I listen to another playlist, first scan always goes crazy, then follow up scans are accurate.  I'm at the point where I always discard my first scan when playing a new playlist.

Are we saying this is fixed? Because when I try to reconnect the Windows desktop scrobbler, I get an error message:

Jon,

Thank you for your help today.  After I updated the Itunes I installed the new scobbler and it's working again.  I don't see it on my desktop so I can't open it, but when I run music I do get the pop up that it's scrobbling and the website also shows it as well :)

Great, I'm glat to hear this.  You can find the new scrobbler app in your windows system tray, next to the clock.  If it's not there, click on the ^ arrow icon in the task bar to show your hidden icons, and you should see the last.fm icon listed there.  Right click on it and choose settings to configure the app.

I'm also experiencing the same issue too. I went to my applications settings, and I noticed that all my applications, which I connected to my account are gone. The desktop application has requested from me to authenticate it, which is what I did. Account: Samson-91. I'm using the latest version of desktop application 2.1.37 (built on Qt 4.8.3) on Windows 7 64 bit. I also checked for updates, and he told me that I'm using the latest version. I don't understand what's the issue.

I hate to have to chime in, but i am having all the same issues as those who have commented above. Both my laptop Windows 10 PC and my Android phone have been logged out. Logging back in only works for a half hour or so and then it has to be redone all over again, including my PC version of Last.FM wanting me to reinstall all the plugins, repeatedly.

I'm going to reiterate what everyone else has said. I opened up Foobar today around 3pm and I was logged out of my last.fm account via the scrobbler. I had to re-authenticate and re-add plugins, and I was fine.

But after rebooting my PC just now (aroun 1am) and opening up Foobar (version 1.4) I again was logged out and had to go through through the process (re-authenticate/re-add plugins). I'm using Scrobber version 2.1.37.

Good morning everyone,

Yesterday afternoon we experienced a brief outage at our datacentre which unfortunately caused many connected api keys / active sessions to get automatically logged out. The root issue has now been resolved, but if you've been affected by this, then I'm afraid you will need to reconnect and re-authenticate all of the applications connected to your Last.fm account.  We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this.

You can view your connected applications in your settings here: https://www.last.fm/settings/applications  If the app(s) you're using are not listed, they will need to be reconnected - please follow each app's instructions for how to do this.  You can also find more information on how to connect to the most popular scrobblers here and here.

Note that if an app says you're connected, but still doesn't work or gives you an error, you may need to first disconnect it and then re-auth again.  Failing this, you may need to do a fresh reinstall of the app, or reset it (e.g. you may need to do this if you're using the foo_scrobble component, detailed steps can be found here ).

Please also note that to fix the problem we had to roll back a configuration setting at 1am this morning which would have logged everyone out of everything again -- if you had successfully reconnected all of your apps last night, then I'm afraid you may find that you've been logged out once again, and will need to reconnect one more time.

Once again, we're sorry for any inconvenience this disruption has caused.

Hi,

In Windows file explorer please navigate to:

C:\Users\<Your Windows Username>\AppData\Roaming\Last.fm\Desktop Scrobbler\

You should see a folder called "v3" - delete this, then relaunch the Desktop Scrobbler (it should prompt you to login again).  It should work now.

If that doesn't work, I recommend reinstalling.
