Every single app/program I use to scrobble is constantly logging me out. The desktop scrobbler, the iOS Marvis music app, the iOS Loud app and the iOS Eavescrob app will scrobble nothing and keep asking me to log in to my account again and again.

Not commented here in ages because I didn't see the point and some things that I asked for years ago are still not here...but anyway this re-authentication thing has completely ruined my setup. I've reauthorized the scrobbler (not sure if this has installed the one I was using prior or a different version) but because I've had to re-install the scrobbler/plugins it is completely broken now.

I haven't updated iTunes for a long while because I learned that the new version would not support ipod classic scrobbles so just kept my setup as was. What happens now is I try to open iTunes, the lastfm scrobbler appears alongside it like normal, then iTunes just closes by itself so I'm literally unable to open iTunes at all now with lastfm.

I've uninstalled last fm and tried reinstalling it but I think I need to download an older version of it...can't remember the link to it now.

Any ideas? So sick of the instability of this scrobbler software. I don't want to update to the current iTunes.

Do you know which version of the scrobbler you were using with iTunes? When I would scrobble with iTunes, I used the "Legacy Last.FM Desktop App" The version was 2.1.37. I am pretty sure it's listed here: https://www.last.fm/about/trackmymusic

Hi, thanks for the reply, no I can't be sure now. Although I've just downloaded the legacy one you said and this seems to be the same as the one which reinstalled with the re authentication so perhaps that was the one I had already installed? I think I may have downloaded a special modified version of the scrobbler somewhere as I was having real issues years back with the ones listed on the site and found one which managed to work, maybe it was 64 bit or something (it may have been on a third party website). Anyway, when I open iTunes and the lastfm scrobbler opens, it yet again just cuts out.

The new version of the scrobbler is definitely not what I need, remember I want the one which supports ipod scrobbling. thanks

Just realised I think it may be something to do with iTunes as I’ve uninstalled the lastfm scrobbler for now and iTunes is still cutting out. Done a reinstall/repair and am now running a virus scan while I’m asleep. I will not be able to check it properly now until late tomorrow night.

I scrobble from Spotify and WinAmp.
Spotify still works as usual, but I have reinstall the WinAmp scrobbler after every reboot since 2 days...

Well I’ve given in and downloaded new itunes and now itunes doesn’t keep closing immediately after opening it but now the lastfm scrobbler won’t stay open alongside it. Think this is the end of the road for me when it comes to scrobbling from my iPod classic, shame as my previous setup worked fine and this outage has completely thrown it out.

Is there really nothing us ipod classics users can do if we want tonscrobble? I don’t really scrobble from anything else...

I'm not even sure I can explain this in a comprehensible manner, lol. I have no idea what's going on.

3 days ago scrobbler started crapping out on me by logging me out constantly, giving me warning pop ups that I was being logged out. I honestly thought at the moment someonehad taken control of my account or something of the sorts. This kept happening for the next days. At random times, many hours a day, automatically being logged out.  I finally uninstalled, only to install it back again and things furtherly kept crapping out. I downloaded the latest version 3.1.29 directly from the official site and it was already weird during installation because it looks very unpolished and old tbh?! (Older than the version I had, anyway. To this for be intentional seems illogical to me). And when I open it is not that window where you have all the information of the artist currently playing, bio, etc. It's just tiny, almost optionless little window, wich only is giving me:

 -Log out
-Show Notifications
-Select the pluging to enable: iTunes or Windows Media Player.

I use Foobar2000 and have done so seemless all my scrobbling life.  Anyone having this same thing or understanding what it actually going on? Because have absolutely no idea!

We have two Windows scrobblers you can download from: https://www.last.fm/about/trackmymusic
  • The one you were using before (2.x) is the Legacy Last.fm Desktop App with the graphical interface.  This version is no longer supported, but does have an old Foobar plugin that might still work.
  • The one you've downloaded is 3.1.39 is a lightweight scrobbler designed to just sit in your system tray and scrobble itunes & WMP. It doesn't support foobar2000 because there's a better plugin you can get called foo_scrobble.
For Foobar2000, quite honestly, I'd recommend downloading and installing the foo_scrobble component, rather than using the Last.fm client software.  You can read about how to do this here.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Error on android.

I noticed an error in my android Simple Last.fm Scrobbler, last sunday. I had to login again, and all my previous scrobbles of that day were lost.

After logging in, the error had disappeared but my new scrobbles had not been added to my profile either.

My streak has ended because of this, and I would like to know if I can get my scrobbles back.

I also replied to someone with a similar issue, but that "conversation" has been closed and no further replies can be added :(

Hi, unfortunately I can't reproduce this issue - SLS is working fine for me with a clean install - but probably it was affected by the API issue that occurred on Sunday.

If this is still happening for you, can you please try clearing both the app's data and cache, then try deleting and reinstalling it?

>>>>I would like to know if I can get my scrobbles back

Judging by the screenshot you've posted, the app hasn't locally cached any failed scrobbles, so I'm afraid not.

Seems I lost about a days worth of scrbblings. Using Spotify. Any way to check in Spotify if I have 'cached last.fm stats' in there? (Scrobbling is working fine now though)

If they're still in your history (last 50 tracks), the offline scrobbler might resubmit them, but I can't guarantee this unfortunately.  If it hasn't already resubmitted them when you re-opened spotify, it probably won't.

Shame the Universal Scrobbler is premium, don’t fancy paying for something I’ve been able to do for free all these years.

Thanks, that looks promising. If it works I’ll have to use this from now on to scrobble...obviously that means I’ll have to calculate all song plays for the week but I can manage that.

Thanks again!
