Mutual followers and the way they display on profiles

There's a couple of different things going on here. When you're following someone, there is a green check mark displayed over their avatar. If they're following you, there's a red plus sign, giving you the option to follow back and it says FOLLOWS YOU next to their username. Likewise, if you're mutual followers, it says FOLLOWS YOU next to their user name.

At the very least, if you're mutual followers could you just have it say MUTUAL FOLLOWERS or something next to their username and do away with the green check or just not have the check/plus obscuring their avatar? Maybe a little off to the side or somewhere else? Next tot heir username perhaps?

Sorry, but ''Mutual followers'' just sounds horrible. Mutual friends, sure, but followers, not so much (terminologically speaking).
In my opinion, circular avatars are looking awful as it is, so the check mark or the plus can't ruin it any further. So maybe it's better to just stand completely against the circular avatars and followers instead of friends, instead of giving them (developers) the idea that we like those changes, but want a little bit of alteration (moving it to the side or somewhere else). If I made any sense.

No, I get what you're saying but that's not going to happen. At least, I'm not banking on it. I think we learned this awhile back. Rather than reiterate the things that are wrong (which I think we're already in agreement about), how do we move forward? Not half-obscuring user avatars with the check/plus is a start.

An additional thought on things not changing back; back before the beta went live, users (myself included) were very vocal about the title - artist thing and while staff stated their reasoning for it, they did say on more than one occasion that they were considering changing it and lo and behold, they did. These others issues like followers to friends have not been addressed up to this point, so I think it's clear what the answer is. That's my reasoning behind saying "don't bother, that part isn't going to change".

Just change it back to friends. Problem solved.
