The posts and friend relationships was what I most enjoyed with last.fm. All of that is gone. My friends are gone, my music list is gone, the shared thoughts with others is gone, i'm gone. Clearly, the launch of this new website was entirely and irresponsibly premature. I understand that this was a free service, but last.fm needs to understand that I am also free to take my computer somewhere else. I do feel bad for those who had invested in what was a fun place to be throughout the day. If I were an advertiser, I would take my business elsewhere.

No Bueno!

It's weird so many people having issues with scrobbling when that broke for me 2 weeks ago partially but has worked perfectly since the new site launched lol.

I'm honestly surprised to see so many people talk about how they used the streaming service. I never knew anyone did. It's library was always so limited. I can't stand streaming music anyway though, bitrate too low (yes, I can tell the difference)

the only good thing from the new site is no more locked picture from the artist. however, the rest is just disastrous.

The new website is a complete disaster usability wise and doesn't match the needs and wants of its core users AT ALL. Just don't fix, what isn't broken. Rule number one! (UI designer speaking here)

If they wanted a fresh new look, they should have hired a better designer and should have kept all the existing features. Maybe work on some more new social features, but that's it. The design patterns, typography and contrast are totally wrong. And I honestly miss the clear, simple charts. It's a chaotic picture-fest right now. And if I click on library the first thing I see is a BIG ASS general chart about how much I've listened the past time. It doesn't tell me anything. It has no purpose. That's not why I open my library and I couldn't care less. Plus the navigation is terrible. I'm not happy about it at all.

Where can I find the list of new added songs on the new lastfm design? I'm searching also for the delete button of some scrobbles...

Do feel invited to read this post carefully. Maybe you'll notice that deleting scrobbles is among "the areas that may experience some disruption" and that they're gradually restoring the listed features. Just chill, you'll delete those songs later...

As for recent additions to the library, I also hope that they're going to return. Write about it in the feedback they ask for - I guess it's the only option.

This is the first time I've checked the website in a while, but wow, it's awful. Changing it out of the blue, as well as spectacularly screwing up people's profiles by removing the ability to scrobble via iPods/iPhones, which I primarily use Last.Fm for, as well as other things has killed the website I've grown to know and love.

A stupid decision.

My only complaints are that now it seems you cannot post pictures in your About Me section (nor use any codes), and the pictures for top artists/albums/tracks are too large, making them simply too distracting. I also dislike the scrobbles bar charts; they take up too much space and are completely useless. All the features such as following/unfollowing of users, deleting scrobbles and such will come back soon, so I'm not worried about the functionality, as it'll be pretty much the same. Overall, I'm leaning towards liking the new site more than disliking it, but they could have done a much better job.

I would gladly welcome more bar charts but, that aside, I agree with you. After several days of trying to come to terms with this new look, I've realized that the loss of 'compactness' is by far the biggest problem. The space that they arranged with the new layout could contain much more information instead of huge pictures and tons of white gaps. Currently, I'm using the site zoomed out to 75%, and it's just about tolerable.

The customizable side bar simply HAS TO return - with so many great third party add-ons,  it was something that made the site unique. They should endorse and support people who've been developing all that stuff - graph generators, tag clouds, song length-based stats etc. etc., instead of simply discarding months ans years of somebody's work.

I really loved seeing who dropped by to look at my page or listen to my radio (I'm a subscriber).  I sincerely hope that feature comes back.

I am really disappointed with the new site.. it is so boring and plain looking. I want customization, I want the little tiny pictures back that were next to each track that you were listening to.. little stuff like that. everyone's profile is the same looking now. LAME.

if you want something like classic last.fm do the following

1. Go to youtube

2. type in the band or genre you like

3. click on mix

if more people do this, Last.fm will get the message that people prefer the classic layout and not the shitify endorsed layout.

Not many people want to use it or like it

Thanks. I'm gone to Youtube - It does what I want.

I have been on LastFM for over 10 years - Unless it goes back to what it was, I'm gone. Too many ads, garish, confusing design, missing features. It was the one site I spent hours on several times a week but with the new design.......

I tried to sign in - It used to be with Username, now it asks for an email and then tells me I don't have an account. Then I sign up to a new account using the same username and email and it doesn't ask for a password.

Thanks for the advice - I am now relaxed, contented, listening to my favourite music on YouTube.

Sorry LastFM - after over 10 years I AM OUT OF HERE!!! If it hadn't been so BAD I would have given it a chance but the new site is TERRIBLE for so many reasons.

Please, Please, go back to the way it was.

last.fm told me on their twitter page this morning that the cache issue is being worked on and once they fix it, all should submit on their own (who knows if/when that will happen) and that they still don't have a final migration (transferring/combing library data from all the servers) ETA. they've said "within 24hrs" every day this week and now it's gone to no ETA. probably a lot more technical problems than they anticipated...who knows.

Do you have a link? I need to ask them about the fact that I haven't had a cache in nearly a year. They ignore me on support -_-

I've been through a lot with this site, but I'm done. The new design is horrendous. Functionality is non existent. I just don't see the purpose for it any longer. It's a shame that after nearly a decade of being a constant user, I have decided to wash my hands of the site altogether. This was a horrible decision Last.fm, and by the feedback I've encountered, I'm not the only person that feels this way. It might just be time to jump from this sinking ship before all the life boats are full.......

Still ruined.  Gone corporate.  Useful for no one because it's now lowest common denominator.

I'd like to know if anyone has an old last.fm similar site recommendation. The old last.fm appears to have been a much loved site by others including myself. It doesn't look like last.fm values the negative feedback their site is getting and instead want to create a more mainstream subscriber base. Even so the implementation and design thus far is disastrous. I can't seem to understand what value  there is in the site any longer.

Does anyone know of a site that is similar to the old last.fm where we can go?

I think the new layout is boring. I miss the album thumbnails next to "now playing". Among a million other things.

Two weeks later and basically nothing has changed. No proper responses from last.fm on any of the messages. No changes on the profiles. People are clearly not happy with the 'new' site and last.fm treats it's customers very poorly. Very disrespectful to all those who have been using last.fm for the past years....

Don't understand what you're talking about. 'Basically Nothing Has Changed'. As I've already said elsewhere, that's definitely not true. 'No proper responses from Last FM on any of the messages'. I'll try to be polite. There have been. Lots of them. You've either not seen them or you're not trying very hard to find them. I can't imagine how the staff who've tried their utmost to tame and satisfy users must be feeling when they read nonsense like that.

yeah.. I agree. It is very sad. Last.fm had some super cool stuff. Most of it is gone. Any ingenious programmers and designers out there wanna recreate all the things last.fm was special for and call it something else? I will subscribe and pay a fee happily!
