Phantom scrobbling

Hi folks I've been having a random song constantly scribbling a half dozen times a day for the past few weeks. It's a song that I happen to play once on a Spotify Playlist that I played once. After I noticed it scrobbling when I hadn't played it, (or even listening to music) I deleted the Spotify app on my Android phone. It's continued to scrobble even though there is no way for it to. Spotify isn't "active "or "linked" anywhere else. I have checked in Settings to verify it isn't "linked" to Last.fm

I'm very perplexed. Ints annoying because it's scrobble enough to where it ends up in my top 5 weekly and I'm tried of deleting the scrobble. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi what's your username, and what's the song in question?  Can you show me an example from your library where the song has been scrobbled so we can check this with our own logs?  Thanks!

Sure thing! My username is geddy1001 and the song in question is John Legend's "Tomorrow". Ive attached an image below showing multiple instances just within the last day of it scrobbling. Its the craziest mystery

Have you reset your Spotify password and logged out of all devices (through the Spotify website)? What's compromised is the Spotify account itself - someone hacked it.

I actually dont use Spotify in general. I used it once to find a running Cadence playlist , where that one song was from. After I started noticing the random scrobbles of that song, I deleted the Spotify app off my phone so there shouldnt be any link at all. Kind of odd its only that one song. Thought I have never used the Spotify website, I will see if I can even log in there and then change password. Thanks

Someone has access to your Spotify account. Deleting it from your phone doesn't solve the problem. You need to change your password.

Yeah, I'd er on the side of caution and change your spotify password here: https://www.spotify.com/uk/account/change-password/

Once you've done that, go to this next page and choose the "Sign out everywhere" option: https://www.spotify.com/uk/account/overview/

If the track continues to scrobble to your profile after that, please let us know.
