Update:We think this problem is now fixed. Cached scrobbles should clear themselves (by scrobbling to your profile) soon.

Hello everyone,

We've identified the root cause of the problem where you may see scrobbles build up into the cache, but then get stuck and not arrive on your profile.

You may be seeing this on the Desktop Client, or in iTunes, when you have more than a small number of scrobbles ready for submission. This can happen easily if you are synching an iPod, for example. It may also happen with CloudScrob. Some people find that a small number of cached scrobbles submit but then a larger number get stuck.

We're working on the fix to that right now and I'll keep you updated.

What is the status of cached scrobbles?  Will these eventually scrobble?  There are a couple of  people who have said that theirs have scrobbled.  The Admin have said we should uninstall and reinstall the client but we lose our cached scrobbles.  There are messages all over the place.  I wish the Mods would have one stickied thread detailing all existing issues.  What do we do with the cached scrobbles?  Do we wait for them to eventually go through?  Will they?  And what about deleting and reinstalling the client....did that work for future scrobbles?  I honeslty don't know what to think.

Everything is such a mess.  Can we have some communication here?

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Scrobbler Not Registering Plays - Cached Only.

Scrobbles from iTunes are showing in the Last.fm window as played, and once reaching the 50% point they are registering as "cached" but not registering on the last.fm site. They will occasionally show up as the currently playing song, but once the song is over it disappears. Spotify plays appear to be showing as playing and being registered on the last.fm page. Will cached plays via iTunes eventually be incorporated into my charts once all the updates are completed?

I scrobble using iTunes and it worked fine until I decided to sync my iPod classic this morning and everything I had listened to on the iPod (about 250 songs) was cached. Now every song I listen to on iTunes is being cached and doesn't show on my account. This is really annoying.

Is anyone else having an issue with their scrobbles from an ipod classic being cached but not moving to the site proper? Is this because the data migration is still in progress or do I need to redownload the scrobbler?

Plays from iTunes/iPhone have been caching since 18 August. Do you have an estimate of when this should be fixed and whether or not we'll lose our cached scrobbles?

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Scrobbles are only cached, not submitted to my account..

Hello everyone.

I have a problem with my last.fm desktop program. I'm using iTunes and an iPod. Ever since the 18th August, my listened scrobbles are always cached, but they don't get submitted to my account. The strange thing is that while I'm listening to the songs, they are showing up on my account "scrobbling now". But after they are filed under "cached".

Thank you for helping!!!!!

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Ipod/ Itunes not scrobbling. Items being Cached.

I am having a problem with my scrobbles from my ipod and itunes being cached. I checked the last.fm scrobbler log and I get the following error:

[150820 03:16:17] Stop watching media keys [150820 03:16:17] "<lfm status="failed">
<error code="3">Invalid Method - No method with that name in this package</error>
</lfm>

[150820 03:16:17] QuickStartWidget::onGotTagSuggestions() "Invalid Method - No method with that name in this package" 3
[150820 03:16:17] "<lfm status="failed">
<error code="3">Invalid Method - No method with that name in this package</error>
</lfm>

What is the workaround for this? Am I going to have to scrobble everything manually?

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Scrobbles Have Been Cached For Days, Tried Re-Authenticating Already.

Title says it all, I've been trying to get my desktop scrobbler to upload my scrobbles for days (at least 3 or 4) with no luck. I saw a few people say to remove your account from the scrobbler and re-authenticate it, so I did that, but it didn't seem to have any effect. :( Help would be hot, thanks!

I'm really sorry about this - as soon as we fix the problem, the cached scrobbles should all submit themselves.

My cached scrobbles submitted themselves without errors, but most of them don't appear in my library. :|

I am experiencing a problem with connecting to Last FM. I can scrobble the tracks and they are now in the Cached tracks of the scrobbler but don't get to My library. When I click on RECONNECT, nothing happens. What is the problem? I've had it for 2 days now.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled iTunes Scrobbles Being Chached.

Ever since the migration, all of my scrobbles from iTunes are being cached...I can't look at any forums on the site since they don't exist anymore and I'm not even sure if this is a migration issue or an issue with my computer. I am using OSX 10.8.5.  Is anyone else having this problem/does anyone know of a solution?

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Scrobbles not working for 4 days.

I'm using WMP or iTunes, lasftm 2.1.37 version. And it stopped scrobbling 4 days ago. Sometimes the error message appears, I authorize and connect my account again, but anyway the scrobbles won't go to my account, in the program it's said to be in cache, in cache. How do I solve this? My account is gabrielhcp. Please, or I'll have no choice than leave this inefficient service.

Hi everyone. I have a problem with scrobbling with my itunes. All my listened tracks in scrobbles box are labeled with "cashed". I don't have any problems with Spotify, but I can not scrobble with my itunes. What's the problem? Why the cashed label still on?

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Invalid Method - No method with that name in this package.

As of yesterday, the CloudScrob iOS scrobbler shows up with the above error when I try to submit my scrobbles. I've tried to download several alternatives and they all come back with the same error, so this is a problem caused by the switchover.

Will this be fixed or do you no longer allow the use of third-party scrobbling?

Third party scrobbling will always be supported and we intend to have this fixed as soon as possible.

Super to hear you're working on the cached scrobbles problem.

The new site is kinda growing on me. I like being able to easily play songs, and love/unlove without a drop-down menu. The historical data is also interesting. If you guys can nail the recommendations/similar artists, and perhaps slightly improve how the listening history is displayed on our profiles, I see myself adjusting eventually :)

Recommended to me today is Cliff Richard's "Christmas Album". I doubt that I'll listen to that in December but in August? You've just got to laugh. Spotify recommendations are also often really daft.

Really? "We're working on the fix to that right now"? People have problems with scrobbling using iTunes/iPods since JANUARY!!! It's the end of August and nothing changed for more than 6 months - http://www.last.fm/forum/34905/_/2239688/1
This is just ridiculous...

I gave up scrobbling from my ipod many years ago. I am absolutely certain that apple timed their itunes updates to coincide with last.fms release of a client that was compatible with the previous version of itunes.

iPod and iTunes scrobbling still worked fine for me yesterday, but since this morning everything gets stuck in the cache. I don't know what's left to play music with now, Android scrobbler doesn't work, only half of what I play in Spotify scrobbles, now iTunes and iPod...

glad to hear the cache will clear on its own once your fix goes in (hopefully soon)

for those wanting to scrobble now, I have been able to use the neptunes app as a desktop client and it has worked fine.  obviously does nothing for those currently cached plays, but if youre ocd(from the forum posts the last week it seems a lot of us are) it will keep up with your current plays until the problem is fixed.

The scrobbler is working better now for me. Some scrobbles still get cached shortly but then submit to my profile. I had hundreds of scrobbles that were cached over the last couple of days and most of them have now been submitted to my profile. However, the are still some scrobbles among them that are cached. Have I lost those or will they still get submitted to my profile soon?

I have the same, most of the cached ones got through, but some are still in purgatory. At least it's more or less going back to normal, cheers on that.

But indeed, are the ones that are still cached now from past week going to be submitted? (username: theblacklights)
