Request for a tag library

This thread is a platform to voice the demand for a reintroduction of the tag library feature, i.e. a possibility to view all your own tags as a cloud or as a list so you can check, on which bands you've applied a certain tag. If you want to add your voice to this demand, please click on "Vote" in the upper right.

This thread is a reaction to Jon's official reply in this thread: https://getsatisfaction.com/lastfm/topics/let-users-vote-on-what-features-should-be-given-priority-to-be-implemented?topic-reply-list%5Bsettings%5D%5Bfilter_by%5D=company_promoted

Jon claimed that those votes are the only indicator for how much something is requested and that only threads marked as an idea are considered due to how getsatisfaction is designed. While there are dozens of threads requesting the reintroduction of a tags library, an advanced search for "Tags" only in the category "ideas" showed no relevant thread for this particular demand. Hence this thread.

How you've come to that conclusion eludes me. I'm only referring to an official statement on how feedback is evaluated by the staff.

While there are dozens of threads requesting the reintroduction of a tags library
The main thread which request personal tags is
Tags?!!!!!! - 64 Votes
The others threads which are asking for personal tags are
Tags - 11 Votes
Tags and neighbors - 2 Votes
Where are the tags - 2 Votes
How the hell do I browse tags - 1 Votes
Tags and Scrobbles missing - 4 Votes
Your idea for tag clouds is good and I vote for your idea. But in my opinion it doesn't make sense to spread the votes for tags over different threads. I suggest to vote also for the thread with the most votes if you vote for this thread. On the other hand: Every activity for the user requests is better than well-behaved waiting like sheeps behind the fence.

Andreas, I wonder if that thread might be ignored because it is under "question" and there has already been an official answer? :-( ... I know they should notice it, but I do wonder.

I struggle to find my way on this forum.
On https://getsatisfaction.com/lastfm it shows four ways of sorting ...
"Conversations
ALL / PROBLEMS / QUESTIONS / IDEAS"
If lastfm staffers are following these conversations is a "me too" click in a problems conversation seen in the same way as a "vote" in the ideas section?

On https://getsatisfaction.com/lastfm/to... staffer Jon says use the " me too" or "vote" but the page he links to as the one he checks is the "ideas" list https://getsatisfaction.com/lastfm?to...

Good perception Freddy. It's possible, that you're right. In that case, it wouldn't be a fair treatment of us customers. But Jon hasn't mentioned this, so I assume, the question for tags is also part of the ranking.
@ Jon: If I'm wrong, please correct me.

Please refer to the linked staff post in the opening post: All these threads you linked are categorized as "problem" or "question". According to moderator Jon, only votes on threads as "idea" are considered for feedback evaluation concerning features. Jon wrote:

"Please use the vote / me-too buttons to express interest in new ideas or missing features, as I'm using this, and only this, as an indication of interest."

"Please use Ideas for new features and feature requests (including features that used to exist on the site).  Things you would like, that would make Last.fm better.

Please restrict Problems to bug reports only.  i.e. software that's already implemented on the website, but not working as expected / designed. I know it's a "problem" that, e.g. groups aren't built, but for the sake of sorting, please post as an idea so that it shows up in the right place."

While Jon didn't write that question/problem threads requesting a feature are ignored, I believe it's strongly implied that those threads are easily overlooked because nobody would compare current high-voted idea threads with problem/question threads which should have been posted as idea threads (the so-called overhead). He mentioned Me Toos because he was adressing bug reporting as well.

I agree that this is an awkward procedure. This thread is basically a test balloon to see if some sort of recognition is possible once enough votes are accumulated in accordance with "their rules". Well, it doesn't hurt to try.

Where on earth are the tags?!!!! I have my 'seen live' list saved. I NEED IT BACK!!!! Change/ruin anything else you want, I don't care, but I must have my seen live list back!!! Please!!!!

If it's not coming back to the site, can someone just export my information so I can download it. I don't have this list saved anywhere else.

Plus, now I don't know what events I'm go to anymore!!! There was no thought put into this site what so ever.

And how do I manage myself as an artist?!

Whatever! Don't care! Just please give me a way to get my seen live tag back! Please!!!

For years I've been using last.fm to find new music with the help of tags. Now this functions either is gone or is incredibly difficult to find, so there's no reason for me to use last.fm anymore ever.

Additionally, I don't understand the purpose of this web page anymore. All info about artists can be found on wikipedia. All songs are on spotify. What is last.fm for?

What happened to the tagging feature of last.fm? I haven't logged in for a long time, but I see all my tags are gone! I painstakingly tagged all my scrobbled tags and used the search to find similarly tagged songs.

Also what happened to neighbors? I could click on an artist or song and it would show which of my friends also listened to the artist and how many times they listened to it. Now it's all gone.

I could display my artists/albums/songs listen by the week, 3 months, or a year. That's all gone now! Even my blog posts disappeared.

Please sell this website to someone or another company that would actually bring last.fm to its fullest potential and listen to its users. Whatever community feeling this website had is practically gone now. Or just completely shutdown this site instead of running a half-baked site with "updates". I've worked at web-based companies before and have never seen incompetence at the highest level until CBS bought last.fm when it comes to "updating" the website.

I read in one of the posts here that you restored tags... I'm trying to find where this tag page is so I can use some popular tags to find new music.

By the way, I haven't been back here since being one of the first members of this Support forum in August, and I must say, the new website still looks like shit and I hardly use it anymore.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled How the hell do I browse tags?.

When Lastfm was Lastfm, not some shitty, covered with crap minimalistic website, I could browse tags simply by typing something in Search bar. Now, when I type something in, it gives me Artists and Albums and nothing else. How can I browse a tag if I don't know any artist within this tag? For example, I tried to find whole HOUSE tag, but I find nothing. Is this a bug or is this website fucked up permanently?
Seriously, I almost don't visit this website now, because there's nothing to visit anymore, but I wanted to find some music. And what? How do it do it?

Do you mean the tracks page for a tag, when you have to type it in to the url? Like https://www.last.fm/tag/house/tracks?...
I find most music now from googling after reading or hearing something on the radio, then adding an album or track to a "to check" Spotify playlist.
~~~~~~~~
.... I think the main time I look at lastfm now is for a quick wiki on an artist and to check if/when I heard a track.
It makes me sad .. It would be much better (more useful, informative) to see my tag list on the corresponding tag pages (оr on the library page). Bring it back, please. It was such a good way to organize a music collection ((
It was the best function. Please, bring it back. Or do it optional.
