I had over 2,000 artist waiting to be checked out by me, stored for years and now? I only remember some names, I might have miss my next favorite band because of that and exploring was one of the fundamental uses of last.fm

I cannot agree more with you! I have more than 1000 artist and specific songs (which were recommended by friends, journalists, familiars etc) that I didn't download them because I trust faithfully on last.fm and the "add to my library button" because I know that the cloud sometimes isn't a safe place but last.fm was my favorite site and I still have some hope it would be again. As YOU SAY MUSIC EXPLORING was unique!
We are talking about data of users and subscribers that wouldn't change the dynamic of the site, this being told WE NEED SOME ANSWERS!!!

This API is working if you want to export scrobbles http://benjaminbenben.com/lastfm-to-csv/

But what with the whole bunch of artist or songs that were added to the library?? Devs give us a hand to save the sinking of this Titanic!!

absolutely agree!!! NOR THEY DELETED my 2000 artists which I scrobbled! They Deleted also 2000 which I added to check on up later and was one by one checking every day!

Everything is lost! It's REALLY RUDE TO DO SUCH THING FOR US OLD USERS WHO ENJOYED STAY HERE AND DISCOVERING NEW MUSIC.
I couldn't agree more!
GIVE US A CHANCE TO EXPORT OUR LIBRARY or SAVE IT SOMEHOW before new thing launches!
make it as script or any other way so we can regain our old library!

Who marked this as "not planned"? Why are you not planning this feature, staff? It sounds just about as easy as all the other features you forgot to add.

I really hope it's just a very bad joke or a mistake caused by new design... all these artists without scrobbles can't be lost, I want to at least import such list, just like many other users. Don't make it disappear without any warning! That would mean I've lost few thousands of artists in my library...

Why has this been marked as "not planned" without reply? Quite disrespectful, to say the least.

The data won't be lost. And I suspect the "not planned" references the request to give you access to an old version of the site.

Don't hold me to this, but I'm fairly confident that all your data will still be stored in their databases - they won't have deleted it, it's just not visible yet because they rushed the site out before it was ready... *sigh*

There are a few posts by the staff saying that large swathes of functionality will be restored over the coming weeks, so I'm staying optimistic. This doesn't make the launch any less of a shambles, but I'm willing to forgive and forget if the come through on their promise.

I'm not so confidence that this is precisely a functionality problem, Last fm has become a closed minded corporate thing mournfully AND ALL THEY WANT IS MORE SCROBBLES AND FUSES WITH BIG FISHES LIKE SPOTIFY YOUTUBE IN A DYNAMIC WAY! They think this will be the thing that keeps his subscribers and users alive but THEY ARE FORGETTING THAT THEY HAVE (HAD) THE BEST EXPLORING MUSIC SITE IN THE WEB, and because they tight to the streaming philosophy using the most mainstreamed platforms THEY DON'T WANT TO KNOW NOTHING ABOUT ARTIST OR SONGS THAT ARE NOT PLAYED IN YOUR LIBRARY,

IT'S ALL ABOUT STREAMING HERE!!!! SUCH A DULL WITTED THOUGHT WHEN MUSIC LOVERS EXPLORE THE SITE DIARY ADDING NEW ARTIST THEY WILL LISTEN not now but SOON!!!! I've found out here tons of people that uses this mechanism adding music with the so called "add to my library".......SPOTIFY HAS THE SAME BUTTON TO ADD TO YOUR LIBRARY BUT LAST FM WAS A WAY BETTER EXPLORER.

C'ME ON LAST FM PUT THE OLD LIBRARY WITH THE WHOLE NUMBER OF ARTISTS WE AS USERS AND SUBSCRIBERS BEING ADDING THROUGH ALMOST A DECADE.

Thank you.

this was was in my opinion the worst thing they did... this was utter upsetting above all else... my dedicately built library of over 11000 artists droped to only 6000...I'm sick of this site, nothing ever changes to the best, it's only pains in the ass all the time... can only hope they won't ignore this thread like a lot of others, or will come with a fucking generic evasive answer

Think about it from a business perspective - can you think of a reason why last.fm would focus on a business model that involves streaming music from other services?

There's no money to be made from streaming from Spotify, nor Youtube. Last.fm won't make a penny from this.

And even if they did, how does that tie in with your suggestion that Last.fm don't want people to discover new music?  That's literally what last.fm was designed for, and they admit themselves this is one of their core aims. Both points contradict each other.

Here's a more reasonable explanation - it didn't make it to the site before release because they released far too early, and it'll be back in the next couple of weeks. Along with a ton of other features that they've already said they'll be adding back over time.

Be patient.  Yes, I know it's a pain, but give the guys a chance. Don't get sucked into this ridiculous conspiracy theory about corruption and hatred of users.  Next you'll be claiming jet fuel can't melt steel beams ;-)

But it's not really a pain though, is, it? I can honestly say that apart from the return of duplicated scrobbles, which I'll be able to fix once the facility becomes available, I've had no problems using the new site whatsoever. I dont miss journals because I didn't produce any and I don't miss the about me section because although I had put some stuff on it, I don't think I'm interesting enough to merit such a thing. But the team will slowly roll out new features, some of which I may like, others which I won't even look at. Ultimately though the site still works for me as it did before. I play a piece of music and it magically gets added as part of my listening data. I still get childish satisfaction out of that, so I do.

I guess it's a pain for some people, if you use the features.

I do empathize though. I remember when Twitter bought Posterous and shut them down, and I lost 2 years of blog posts.  I was gutted, but I got over it - and they weren't even offering an alternative.

But yeah, tell me about it. Something about scrobbling. It's basically hardcore stat porn. Plus there's something really cool about being able to see who your favourite bands were 5 years ago!

I became a member five years ago. I can't remember why I did but, anyway, I didn't even know I was scrobbling until I started receiving friend requests. I thought it was mental that the music I had been listening to for months was being organised into data and pretty little charts. All unbeknownst to me. So I was hooked and am still, to this day, amazed that this all still happens no matter where I am in the world. The magic has never gone for me. But then I have to concede that maybe I'm not the most grown up person on earth.

last.fm team i have to say thank you because right now i can see most artists i have added again. i though that theyll be gone forever so i feel really realieved man. so THANK YOU to the guy or guys who make that possible. i hope you make the added albums and songs available too because when i click on artists witho zero plays it doesnt show anything even in those cases where i added a particular song or album even in those tagged.

Svelatna the number isn't on the main page profile, Try go to the library and at your left side there is a star that is when the artist pages are, the link would be someone like this in my case,
http://www.last.fm/user/Strato_Frantic/library/artists?page=26 1283 artist and only 382 artists with 100 thousands of scrobblings.
I hope the artists numbers would finally be included in the main profile page, also there is a lack of tools for organizing the library like sorted by "last added" "alphabetically" etc

Yep they released our kinadpped ARTISTS Yay for that!!! It costs me an upper doze of clonazepam but it's ok, I see they are "working" on it, I give praise to the Team!!
Now WE WANT those SEIZED ALBUMS AND SONGS  that appeared to be there but they are not, cos when you dive into the library pages there is still a glitch that gets you back to the first page.

Respect to the unscrobbled Albums and Songs is respect to the users and subbies that bet for this site using it for years and consider it the best exploring music site out there.

I don't know why or who marked this idea as "Not Planned", but the problem with status tags in Get Satisfaction is that they are pre-defined and not editable and differ for ideas, problems and questions. "Ideas" are meant to be used for new feature suggestions here, quite similar to the Ideas section in the Spotify community. So as this is not a new feature suggestion, but rather a problem or a question, the available status tags ("Planned", "Implemented", "Under Consideration", "Not Planned") do not fit anyhow.

Furthermore I have seen a similar related thread with staff reply elsewhere recently, and when I have found it, I might merge this one  into it.
