Scrobbles count in Library differs from Scrobbles count in Overview

Hi, Last.fm people,

I know there are several other posts like mine, but I thought that I'd add up something.

So here's the deal:
On my Overview I got 65214 scrobbles. On my Library page I got 64406. I have no idea why that is, I also couldn't get it from reading other people's posts with the same problem.

Also something else:
When I go to YEAR by YEAR view and I sum up all the scrobbles for all the years I've been scrobling I get total of 64169.

I know it's not all about the counts, but... which one is the correct one :)

Regards,
Borislav

I've noticed this discrepancy on my profile too. From my own theorising, I believe it only affects people who've imported scrobbles (e.g. from iTunes). In other words, the total scrobbles you see on your Overview is imported scrobbles + scrobbles you've submitted since you created your profile, whereas on your Library page it only lists your non-imported scrobbles, for some reason.

I'm assuming/hoping this minor bug will be rectified at some point but it would be nice to get some official acknowledgement that this is on the to-do list....

@Borislav, when you sum up the yearly numbers, you will not have all the today's scrobbles !
To be more exact, if you check in the graph the total number of scrobbles for year 2016, you will not get a lot (if not all) the scrobbles from today !
As far as I could detect, they appear in the graph after about 1 day (maybe only some hours, I don't know exact number of hours).
But surely, this is the source of the difference when you compare to this amount (by summing up the total scrobbles per each year).

I noticed that the scrobbles aren't adding up at the right spots.

4+ months later and this still hasn't been sorted.

I don't understand why this is so hard to fix - either the site can add up or it can't. If it's able to correctly total our scrobbles on our main profile page, then why does it suddenly fail at certains parts of Library pages...

You acknowledged this first time round, Laura, perhaps you could give us another official update?

Hi, there's no news on this I'm afraid - the associated tickets are in our work backlog.

Cheers,
Laura

Only another actual example: Every track from the album The Jouney Aflame was counted identical with exception of "The World Is Listening" (7 vs. 11) as the screenshots 20 hours later explain. Album: Track:

Are any of these scrobbles imported for this track? i.e. On your track page, is your first scrobble (listed at the bottom) for 'The World is Listening' recorded as "unknown date"?

Hey Elliot. Thank's for asking. All scrobbles are from the same source - Spotify.
But right now I'm seeing 11 scrobbles on both pages. Looks like different upload intervals for the pages. Curious.

Bump. This has literally been a problem since day one and effects a fundamental aspect of the site.

I wish there was a fix for this. or a way to delete a song's scrobbles stats without having scrobbles listed. I imported my itunes library many years ago and there are a few songs with incorrect titles that I can't fix because I can't delete the scrobbles.

You should now be able to do this, thanks to the latest sprint/site update.

Hello, I have the same problem here:
1081 scrobbles for this artist:

But if I check details: 436 scrobbles

When I started Last.fm, I imported scrobbles from iTunes.. and now I want to delete these scrobbles.

Do someone know how to delete only the imported scrobbles and not the whole artist scrobbles please?

Thanks

One other source for the discrepancy, that I've found, is due to the way "Artist" and "Album Artist" is handled in Last.fm. WMP calls these fields "Contributing Artist" and "Artist", which is reversed. I'm not taking a position on which one is right, just that it is what it is.

In my library, which is based in iTunes (because that's where it began when I first created an account on Last.fm), but shared across Mac, Windows (where I use WMP), Linux and Android (both via Kodi, and also Pulsar on Android), I use the "Artist" field for the artist on the label, and I use the "Album Artist" field to consolidate artists that have used different names under their predominant name.

This worked great until I started using WMP, where the "Artist" field corresponds with the "Album Artist" on iTunes, and apparently other players. Now, I have scrobbles that show up in the total play count on the "Top Artist", "Top Albums", and "Top Tracks", as well as the charts under the Library tabs for "Artists", "Albums" and "Tracks". But when you drill down to a specific artist's, or album's or track's Library page, they're just not there. If I look at the "Library" > "Tracks" tab, and start at the bottom, I can begin to find them. They're attributed to the correct artist (note the lack of initial capitalization) in the list, but they're invisibly filed under the "Album Artist". Problem is, many of these misfiled scrobbles are lost in the middle of the chart. Considering there are 1000+ artists and tens of thousands of tracks in my library, and 65,000+ scrobbles, it would take days of careful scrutiny to find them.

I stopped fretting over it when I realized the pain it was going to be to correct it.

This issue is back. New system now shows most of my artist album plays down. So I’ve lost all this data by the looks of it.

This is a slightly different issue, which we're tracking in this thread.  The short answer is that we know there's a problem with your account, and several other users concerning albums in the new database, and it's being fixed.

Thanks Jon. It’s cool if you know it can be fixed. I’d rather know if not.

Just to clarify: is it connected with your database switching?

So far I've found only one example. And you haven't replied in main thread.

Rather than a bump up a thread from 2016, I'll reply to your other post; but yes, it's a bug that is being discussed here.
