Scrobbles not working

Hello! I noticed just over a week ago that my scrobbling had stopped working and it is very frustrating and annoying that it has stopped working. I disconnected my spotify from my last.fm account and reconnected it and it still didn't work. I even went and made an alternate account to see if it was broken still and when I connected that one to my spotify it was working. SO I honestly have no idea what is going on with it. I then went on twitter and saw that there were some issues going on so I just waited. But it was then announce that the problems should be fixed and mine still has not been fixed. I would love to hear what is going on with this and if I can get some help to resolve this issue.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Scrobbles have not been working for over a week.

Hello Again, I am posting this again as I have not got a response to my first post explaining my problem. As I have posted before my last.fm account is not scrobbling my music from spotify. I have done everything I can to fix this issue and nothing has worked. I thought initially it was an issue with my spotify, but after making an alternate last.fm account and connecting it to my spotify there were no problems on that one. So, I am at a lost as to what to do and annoyed with the lack of support from the last.fm team.

Ntram455. You will see that I have some scrobbles that I manually put into there by using 'open scrobbler' but Last.fm has stop automatically scrobbling my music since February 27th

It looks like the problem lies on the Spotify side, as was explained here https://getsatisfaction.com/lastfm/to.... At the moment I can recommend you to use the Spotify web player https://support.spotify.com/is/listen....

After reading this page I have already done and tried what is suggested to fix it. I also just tried using spotify web player and that did not fix it.  It is still not scrobbling. My spotify works perfectly fine on a different last.fm account I made but it does NOT work on my main account.

This add on does indeed work for my account. However, this is very inconvenient to have to use spotify web player instead of the application. It also doesn't help that I listen to music on my phone a lot of the time and the scrobbles would not work there. I do appreciate your help in this situation and at lest there is some progress regarding this issue

You can run web player and desktop app in parallel while listening with the desktop app. In fact that is one of the tricks to re-enable Spotify scrobbling if it has stopped again for some unknown reason. Furthermore the browser extension lets you edit your scrobbles and even remembers those edits the next time you scrobble the track again.

Running them parallel did in fact keep my scrobbling going. However, it was not scrobbling the correct album when doing so. Also, it did not fix my scrobbling as my phone still does not scrobble my music nor does my laptop that does not have the chrome extension installed.

You can edit the scrobble (e.g. adding or changing the album title) with the browser extension while it has not been submitted yet, i.e. during the first 50% of the track length. Just click on the green Last.fm icon in the upper right corner of your browser indicating that it is currently scrobbling the track.

If your phone still does not scrobble, it means that the Last.fm feature of Spotify scrobbling is not working. Maybe try again to delete it on your connected apps page and reconnect again. You could also delete it (= Remove Access) in your Spotify account settings, by the way, so the reauthenticating process with your Last.fm account is initiated again. Don't mix it up with the Last.fm Player which is a different feature for using Spotify as playback source for Last.fm content.

Having to edit the scrobbles would be very inconvenient and annoying as It would require me to do it every time when a song plays. As for your suggestions with the phone I have done both of those already. I appreciate your helpfulness and suggestions but I am just at a lost at what to do to fix it. I just want it to scrobble like it use to.

Concerning edited scrobbles the browser extension can save them if you enable that option in its setting, and then you don't have to do it every time you scrobble the same song.

I would still have to manually do it for every song that doesn't scrobble correctly and at that point I would be putting a lot of time and effort into doing that. I want everything to back to normal where it all scrobbles automatically and correctly on all platforms that I have been using for the past 3 years. So, if you have any more suggestions or input on what I can do to bring it back to its normal state I am all ears.

If you have an Android device, you can use the Last.fm Android App. This app enables you to track what you listen to on a number of services including Spotify. Make sure the option "Device Broadcast Status" is enabled in the Spotify settings.

Regarding the original problem - does disconnecting / reconnecting from your applications settings not help?

https://www.last.fm/settings/applications

If not, one thing I've heard from others, but have not been able to verify myself, is to try enabling a private session in the Spotify settings for some time (I guess 15 minutes?), and then switch the private session off.

Unfortunately the problem is with Spotify's api - they're looking into, but so far haven't been able to fix the problem.

I did disconnect/reconnect my application settings and it did not work. I also tried going into private mode for 15 minutes and that did not work as well. However, it is good to know that the problem on spotifys end is being looked into
